The continual need for building in developing economies and countries such as Jordan increases the obstacles and problems faced by Project Management Units in completing projects on time, with quality assurance, and at lower prices. However, as more and more new types of project management approaches such as (Design-Bid DB) are introduced, the binding conditions of contracts are growing tougher in order to reduce risks during project execution. In this paper, the researcher tries to provide a fair comparison between (Design-Bid-Build DBB) and (Design-Build DB) approaches which are already used in the construction project in Jordan and offering a good vision for both owners and contractors equally

Green buildings have recently become a key aspect of the construction field and bring along a renovation of the whole industry chain. Such changes introduce new challenges for all subjects involved, and designers are also affected by such issues, especially for the development of projects based on international green building standards. Within this scope, project management plays a key role in the optimization of the design phase. This research analyzes the design process of international projects from the project management perspective through a multiple case study approach, considering the sustainability-related tasks that negatively affect the project design development under two types of contractual approaches: Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build. It aims to identify whether the Design-Build or Design-Bid-Build process is the best solution for developing green building projects. Two case studies in Italy and two case studies in Spain are analyzed, and the effects of the project management issues are evaluated under three different points of view: Time, cost, and level of sustainability of the building. A poorly planned process for the achievement of the various green building features of the project can impact the project schedule and the budget, whereas, a poorly managed project could also negatively impact its green building features. Finally, this research also highlights the positive relationship between process integration and green building design development.

The article discusses the features of the implementation of investment projects in the construction industry, the main trends in project management in this area. The importance of the construction industry for the country’s economy is substantiated, the key indicators of the construction sector and its contribution to GDP are highlighted. The analysis of the development of the construction industry for the period from 2009 to 2020 is carried out. The reasons for the decrease in investment in construction are identified, among them the most important ones are highlighted. In the article discusses the key characteristics of the construction industry in our country. The conclusion is made about the need for a systematic and integrated approach to the management of investment projects. The authors propose to use the tools of project management to improve the efficiency of the implementation of investment projects. The main tools of project management (tools for defragmentation of work, tools for managing the time in the project, tools for managing resources for project implementation, tools for managing project costs) are named and examples of their use are given. The concepts of «team», «project management team», «matrix of responsibility» are considered.

The study of various management concepts at the present stage of economic development contributes to improving the efficiency of activities in various areas through intensive development. As a result, in each economic entity, the issue of applying not only advanced production technologies but also management approaches becomes relevant. At the moment, a significant number of management concepts have been developed and actively used. Still, project management can be considered the universal one, as it helps implement the set goals in conditions of resource constraints. The degree of effectiveness of the project approach to management is largely determined by the ability of an economic entity’s accounting and analytical system to form the necessary information base. Scientific and practical interest is a study aimed at creating elements of the information field for making effective management decisions in the context of the project approach to management, which is the purpose of the work. The result should be considered a set of distinctive features of project management in setting and maintaining management accounting in an economic entity.

High level of quality during design, design-build and construction stages is a fundamental requirement to ensure that structure serves its intended purpose. Establishment of a quality assurance manual is prime necessity. Lack of quality control during design, review and approving design drawings are major reasons for structural failures. Designers and design checkers need to work in tandem to ensure more adequate Quality Assurance & Control (QA/QC).

In structural design Durability is a key parameter and becomes critical for service life of 100/120 years. In design build and construction stages controlling work quality is important to maintain performance standards. Tailor made quality plan for Design-build Contract is essential. Quality procedures, inspection and testing needs implementation in practice to verify full compliance and prevent occurrence of faults and defects towards durability and service life. This paper deals with Quality with special emphasis on durability in design and construction through case studies of design build contracts.

Design-Build (DB) and Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) contracts are the two types of public-private-partnerships that are widely used in the region that are aimed in this study. The objectives of this study were to analyze and compare DB and BOT projects in terms of project costs and durations. In order to analyze and compare Design-Build (DB) and Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) projects, this study collected data by means of convenient random sampling, from construction projects built by five ministries of Republic of Turkey. Statistical tests were conducted to determine if the metrics related to cost and schedule were significantly different from each other in these two types of projects. The findings of this study will help the public agencies decide what delivery method is best for their projects in terms of controlling costs and schedule. Results show that DB projects outperform BOT projects in terms of cost and schedule. The results of this research will enable governments to become more familiar with comparisons between DB and BOT distribution methods, and the findings will help the ministries to choose swhich delivery method is suitable for use on a project-based.

AbstractProject management is general planning, coordination and inspection of the project, from the initial stage all the way to final phase, its purpose is an accomplishment of the accepted task and creation of the functional final effect, without exceeding established costs, time-frames and fulfillment of required standards of the quality. The present article was devoted to the issue of the project management in the construction sector in order to reduce the business risk. The study is based on literature examinations with an own methodological solution for project management in the construction industry. After introducing a set of definitions of the project and describing the concept of project management, a characterization of the project management in the construction industry and its effects in the economic space were described
