Context-sensitive assistance systems offer a huge potential for the optimization of work processes. Through the integration of digital twins, context information can be provided instantly, whereby a modeling of work processes is hardly standardized. The following article presents a solution of an interactive software application for context-sensitive assistance systems combined with process patterns for a modeling of service activities.

With the mounting demand of web applications, a number of issues allied to its quality have came in existence. In the meadow of web applications, it is very thorny to develop high quality web applications. A design pattern is a general repeatable solution to a generally stirring problem in software design. It should be noted that design pattern is not a finished product that can be directly transformed into source code. Rather design pattern is a depiction or template that describes how to find solution of a problem that can be used in many different situations. Past research has shown that design patterns greatly improved the execution speed of a software application. Design pattern are classified as creational design patterns, structural design pattern, behavioral design pattern, etc. MVC design pattern is very productive for architecting interactive software systems and web applications. This design pattern is partition-independent, because it is expressed in terms of an interactive application running in a single address space. We will design and analyze an algorithm by using MVC approach to improve the performance of web based application. The objective of our study will be to reduce one of the major object oriented features i.e. coupling between model and view segments of web based application. The implementation for the same will be done in by using .NET framework.

Current Building Information Model (BIM) based applications do not integrate well with the varying and frequently changing work processes of Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) professionals. One cause for this problem is that traditionally software developers apply software design methods that aim to design software that cater to a broad range of different users without accounting for the possibility of changing work processes. This chapter theoretically introduces a different method to design software - context sensitive software development – and theoretically argues that it is poised to enable application developers to adjust BIM based applications to the varying and frequently changing work processes of AEC professionals. As a first starting point for the practical applicability of the theoretical method, first user categories that BIM based application developers can use as a starting point for the analysis of different user contexts are provided. These categories were derived from the author’s experience supporting more than ten projects with the implementation of BIM based applications and from what they learned on a number of industry BIM workshops. The chapter closes by mapping out future research directions to evaluate the practical value of the method and with a theoretical analysis of how researchers can apply state-of-the-art software development methods, software development technologies, and software dissemination models to support their research.

The advancements in mobile technologies make the collection of customers’ context information feasible. Service providers can now incorporate context information of customers when providing personalized services to them. This type of services is called context sensitive mobile services (CSMS). Context refers to the environment around customers when there are business transactions between customers and service providers. Location, time, mobile device, services, and other application specific information are all possible components of context. Compared to other types of mobile services, CSMS can fit to customers’ demands better. CSMS can follow push model or pull model. Different context sensitive services are sensitive to different context information with different degrees of sensitivity. In the future, CSMS can find good support from data mining approaches to understand customers better. Security is currently an important issue for CSMS.

Flex Projector is a free, open-source, and cross-platform software application that allows cartographers to interactively design custom projections for small-scale world maps. It specializes in cylindrical, and pseudocylindrical projections, as well as polyconical projections with curved parallels. Giving meridians non-uniform spacing is an option for all classes of projections. The interface of Flex Projector enables cartographers to shape the projection graticule, and provides visual and numerical feedback to judge its distortion properties. The intended users of Flex Projector are those without specialized mathematical expertise, including practicing mapmakers and cartography students. The pages that follow discuss why the authors developed Flex Projector, give an overview of its features, and introduce two new map projections created by the authors with this new software: the A4 and the Natural Earth projection.

Contemporary assistance systems support a broad variety of tasks. When they provide information or instruction, the way they do it has an implicit and often not directly graspable impact on the user. System design often forces static roles onto the user, which can have negative side effects when system errors occur or unique and previously unknown situations need to be tackled. We propose an adjustable augmented reality-based assistance infrastructure that adapts to the user’s individual cognitive task proficiency and dynamically reduces its active intervention in a subtle, not consciously noticeable way over time to spare attentional resources and facilitate independent task execution. We also introduce multi-modal mechanisms to provide context-sensitive assistance and argue why system architectures that provide explainability of concealed automated processes can improve user trust and acceptance.

Introduction. The paper considers the creation and application of digital twins at various stages of the life cycle of mobile transport and transshipment rope complexes (mobile ropeways), the equipment of which is mounted on the basis of wheeled or tracked chassis of high load capacity. The work objective is to improve safety in using such transport systems based on real-time forecasting of potential failures. This will prevent the occurrence of emergencies in a timely manner. Materials and Methods. The structure of the digital twin of the mobile transport and transshipment rope complex is proposed. Approaches to the analysis of ongoing work processes in order to prevent accidents have been developed. They are based on simulation modeling of the system dynamics using new complex mathematical models built through the system approach. Results. The developed method was tested on a large-scale layout of a mobile transport and transshipment rope complex created by 3D printing methods. A mathematical model of this system was developed; it was used to construct a digital double of the experimental model. The possibility of predicting failures in the layout is shown experimentally through the example of a rope slipping case. To do this, the actual value of the load suspension point coordinate obtained through the video stream processing method was compared to the predicted value calculated using a digital twin.Discussion and Conclusions. The research results provide the creation of an industrial digital twin of a mobile transport and transshipment rope complex mounted on cross-country wheeled chassis.
