Multicomponent reactions involving polyfunctional 4-amino-5-carboxamido-1,2,3-triazole and cyclic carbonyl-containing CH-acids were studied under conventional thermal heating, microwave and ultrasonic irradiation. The features of the reactions studied were discussed and the optimized procedures for the synthesis of final triazolopyrimidines were elaborated. In contrast to the similar MCRs of numerous other aminoazoles, a change of direction of the heterocyclizations in the case of 4-amino-5-carboxamido-1,2,3-triazole was not observed when microwave or thermal heating was substituted by ultrasonication at ambient temperature.

Treatment of 2-Mercaptothiazoline, 2-Mercaptobenzimidazole, 2-Mercapto-1- methylimidazole with [M2(CO)10] (M = Re and Mn) at ambient temperature in presence of decarbonylating reagent Me3NO give the complexes [Mn2(?-?2-C3H4NS2)2(CO)6] (1), [Re2(?-?2-C3H4NS2)2(CO)6] (2), [Mn2(?-?2-C7H5SN2)2(CO)6] (3), [Re2(?-?2- C7H5SN2)2(CO)6] (4), [Re2(?-?2-C4H5N2S)2(CO)6] (5) and [Re2(?1-C4H5N2SH)(CO)9] (6) respectively. All the compounds have been characterized by IR, 1H NMR and mass spectral data. The heterocyclic ligands are expected to be coordinated to two or single metal atom through the nitrogen and sulfur atoms or via only sulfur atom.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/jbcs.v25i1.11775 Journal of Bangladesh Chemical Society, Vol. 25(1), 62-70, 2012>

Biginelli, an important multicomponent reaction provides an avenue for the synthesis of different biologically active heterocyclic compounds. During the past decade, one pot multicomponent reactions have attracted the attention of organic and medicinal chemists due to high atom economy, time and enery saving convergent nature. The present manuscript reports a simple one pot three component synthesis of 3, 4-dihydroprimidin-2(1H)-thiones from various diversely substituted aldehydes, ethyl acetoacetate and thiourea using a orange peel powder as a natural catalyst on ultrasonic irradiation in aqueous medium as the solvent. The advantages of this reaction are less reaction time, high yield, easy availability of the catalyst and green nature.

Keeping the human body in a thermal comfort state inside a room has become a challenge in recent years. While the most common strategy is to heat buildings, it requires a lot of energy. Reducing this energy consumption will have positive impacts, both economically and environmentally. We propose here to act directly on the personal thermal heating of the human body, by modulating the absorption and transmission properties of a synthetic polymer membrane in the mid-infrared (MIR). We show numerically that 5% SiO2 submicron particles inserted in polyethylene (PE) and nanoporous polyethylene (nanoPE) membranes increase the radiative heating of the membrane, reducing the required ambient temperature of a room by more than 1.1 °C. The proposed membrane can be flexible enough to be easily integrated into conventional textiles.

Aldehydes or ketones reacted with acetic anhydride in dichloromethane at ambient temperature to produce gem-diacetates in good to excellent yields in the presence of gallium triiodide, which was generated in situ from gallium and iodine. This catalyst was also useful for the deprotection of carbonyl compounds in the presence of water.
