Digitization of academic discourse causes changes that influence the work of researchers and flow of information in the scientific community. One can observe strong globalization and internationalization processes in the current terminological system wordlwide. The need to index the emerging works in the bibliographic databases, which have the goal to provide the necessary information for their users and to preserve the reflection of science and culture for future generations, does not disappear. This means that indexers are forced to skillfully maneuver between the quality and the amount of information provided. The paper presents some thougts on including and combining the international and native terms in the classes of equivalence in the iSybislaw system. To provide a complete and relevant information retrieval they both should be considered as an accesses point to the knowledge offered by the system.

Information retrieval is the activity to organize information in a certain way, and according to the users demand to find out the related information from a collection of resources. Retrieval process and technology can be based on metadata or full-text indexing. Most of the relevant information retrieval systems are devised on the computer. However, with the highly development of the embedded technology, some popular application have been developed on the platform. In this paper, we will introduce an information retrieval system on the iOS platform which is more convenient, practical, and effective compared with the traditional system. And we will introduce an application based on this system design. The experiments shown that this system was exactly effective utilized to retrieval audio information.

This Research aim to know the retrieval effectiveness on Online Union Catalog of UGM Library, index pattern at data bases, knowing which's more effective of searching at entri oftitle and subjec and also to know the cause ofeffectiveness difference retrieval at the both entri. Along with growth and information accretion, the main problem have shifted from way of accessing information become to chosen the relevant information with its requirement. Information retrieval is not possible to be done in the manual system, because very big information corps and non-stoped growing larger. The information retrieval system is very needed to to assist the consumer in finding information. One of the information retrieval system is online union catalog. With the online union catalog, by users easily can look for the book title, pickings of research and other documentation of library where from and any time. Getting a number of relevant document with the requirement represent the crux in the searching activity, and effectiveness from online union catalog is this represent the key. Effectiveness from a system influenced by a lot of component which each other related/relevant like: quality of input metadata in data bases, index, searching strategy, ability of system application and keyword election. A system told effective if the system can find more amount document/ appropriate information of request by precission /high accuracy. Research done by testing search at online union catalog to use the natural language keyword. Keyword inclusion done at entri of title and entri subjek. Keyword of taken as sampel come from one of title matakuliah of each; every faculty in UGM. From each; every the topic then translated /formulated into 4 natural language keyword. Data obtained is grouped by relevant level. From the acquirement data; then analysed with the test ofnonparametrik Mann Whitney. From processing data got by conclusion that ratio of retrieval at title entries of equal to 66,6% and subject entries of equal to 58,3%. Data got by mean at title entries of equal to 85,9 document with the detail: very relevant 42,4%, less be relevant 24,2% irrelevant and also 33,5%. While at subject entries found by a mean data of equal to 62,5 document with the detail: very relevant 31,9%, less be relevant 26,45 and irrelevant 30,6%. Pursuant to this research result is suggested to increase performance from Online Union Catalog of UGM library. Is things required to improved by technique ofsearching and ability of searching system, the importance of taking care ofquality ofdata input, similarity ofmetadata and always the existence of renewal /updating ofcatalogue data from all member library. Keywords: effectiveness encounter ofretrieval information retrieval system online union catalog.

The performance evaluation of an information retrieval system is a decisive aspect of the measure of the improvements in search technology. The Google search engine, as a tool for retrieving information on the Web, is used by almost 92% of Iranian users. The purpose of this paper is to study Google’s performance in retrieving relevant information from Persian documents. The information retrieval effectiveness is based on the precision measures of the search results done to a website that we have built with the documents of a TREC standard corpus. We asked Google for 100 topics available on the corpus and we compared the retrieved webpages with the relevant documents. The obtained results indicated that the morphological analysis of the Persian language is not fully taken into account by the Google search engine. The incorrect text tokenisation, considering the stop words as the content keywords of a document and the wrong ‘variants encountered’ of words found by Google are the main reasons that affect the relevance of the Persian information retrieval on the Web for this search engine.

Domain ontology introduces a new theory and method for information retrieval. In this paper, we analyze the deficiencies of traditional information retrieval and explore the relationship between domain ontology and information retrieval, as well as the basic design ideas of information retrieval based on domain ontology. Finally we present a domain ontology-based intelligent information retrieval system, so that the information retrieval can be promoted from the keyword level to the semantic level. With the rapid development of the national economy and the growth of information resources, traditional methods relying on the browser, database fields, keyword matching, or even manual retrieval query has become increasingly difficult to meet people's information retrieval needs. How to quickly and accurately identify the needed information resources has become a urgent question in front of us. Information retrieval is a technology which can find out the relevant information the user needs from a collection of large amounts of information. It has experienced manual retrieval, computer retrieval stage, now it has developed to the network and intelligent stage. The objects of information retrieval extend from a relative closed, stable and consistent, centrally managed information content by an independent database to an open, dynamic, quickly update, widely distributed, and loosely managed web content; the users of information retrieval also spread from professional intelligence agent to the common including government officials, businessmen, managers, teachers, students, professionals, etc. They ask for the higher and more diverse requirements from the results to the manner of information retrieval. Adapting to the need for network, intelligence and personalization is a new trend of information retrieval technology.

Obtaining the right information at the right time is one of the main challenges for modern societies. This holds especially for companies that must handle complex business processes that require case dependent information. Unfortunately, case dependent and relevant information is often widespread over different document systems. Users must interact with various applications and search for semantically related (and helpful) documents without any, or with only little, support by the disparate retrieval systems. In this work, a system called Advanced ontologybased Information Retrieval System (AIRS) is introduced that includes methods of state-of-the-art enterprise search technology and combines them with an ontology called AIRS Knowledge Base (AIRSKB). AIRS is deeply integrated with advanced information retrieval technologies to make search processes in large heterogeneous document landscapes more effective and increase the quality of search results. ...

Today's digital library is a necessity. A system that provides all-digital information and services requires that all aspects of it should be accessed effectively. In the context of information retrieval in digital libraries, the information retrieval systems are important instruments. The system becomes a link between relevant information and its users. Evaluation of the information retrieval system to determine its effectiveness is important to ensure that users receive good retrieval services. Recall and precision are approaches to measure the effectiveness of information retrieval systems that are widely used. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the ISI Yogyakarta digital library retrieval system based on recall and precision approaches. This study will provide benefits for librarians in knowing the effectiveness of the information retrieval system and the extent of their accuracy in indexing. This research uses an experimental method with a quantitative approach. The researcher chose a sample of the searching keywords purposively and then tested them by searching on the portal http://digilib.isi.ac.id/. The data obtained were analyzed using the formula recall and precision. In this study the subjects tested were interior design subjects. The precision measurement of 10 keywords on the subject of interior design gets 92.37% results while the recall measurement gets 80.79% results. The result stated that precision is higher than recall, it showed that the information retrieval system of ISI Yogyakarta’s digital library is quite effective.
