The paper aims to summarize and analyze the statistical data on the generation structure and price behavior in the Russian electric power industry and, based on the analysis, make a statistical contribution to the discussion on the outcomes of the electricity reform in Russia. A brief review of this topic is provided. The study states that the electric power industry should be regarded as a combination of four sub-industries when regulation, market design, and industrial organization problems are discussed. These four sub-industries are generation, transmission, distribution, and sales because of different regulations applied to these businesses. The main trends in the retail price index and some other indexes in the four sub-industries are observed from 2009 to 2018. The trends in electricity consumption and generation structure are discussed as essential components of economic processes in the industry. The findings suggest that the four sub-industries make different contributions to the overall growth of the electricity supply costs for end consumers. Most growth was determined by regulated government-granted monopolies in network businesses (transmission and distribution companies). The sales business is represented in the research by suppliers of last resort.

The life-supporting role of the electric power industry during the spread of the coronavirus was especially pronounced. Electricity has become necessary for remote education of children, video calls, hospitals, etc. The main trends in electricity demand include changes in the ratio of electricity consumption in industry, transport and commercial sectors, as well as households due to the quarantine of some consumers. The paper identifies key risk-forming factors for the energy industry at the macro level and, based on an expert assessment, identifies the most probable and most powerful risks. By analogy with external risk-forming factors, the internal risk-forming factors of energy companies were analyzed, and their range of internal risks was determined.

The presented study is devoted to ensuring the balance of production and consumption of electric energy in order to preserve the environment for future generations and ensure environmental safety. The work analyzed statistical data reflecting indicators of production and consumption of electric energy, volumes of commissioned capacities and balances of the flow of electric energy. Based on the data analyzed, it was concluded that the electric power industry is able to satisfy its own needs, however, solely by ensuring the flow of electric energy from surplus areas to scarce areas. The commissioned volumes of capacities will make it possible to ensure exclusively an increase in the consumption of electric energy; however, this does not make it possible to solve the problems associated with wear and tear of capacities. At the end of the study, a model was proposed to ensure the balance of production and consumption of electric energy, which contains a set of mechanisms ensuring the stability of the energysystem.

The article is devoted to the study of the characteristics and role of the Russian electric power industry in the national economy in comparison with the countries of the world. The materials provide an empirical comprehensive analysis of the performance indicators of the electric power industry sectors in the context of the countries of the world, with the identification of Russia's place in the world electric power balance. The information base of the study was the parameters of electricity consumption and the volume of gross domestic product of various countries of the world, as well as the characteristics of the structure of electricity production and consumption. The methods of analysis and synthesis, mathematical and statistical analysis were used. Based on the indicators of the electric intensity of the gross domestic product and electricity consumption per capita, a comparative assessment of the characteristics of the energy efficiency of Russia is carried out in comparison with various countries of the world. The materials provide a comparative analysis of the indicators of the structure of electricity generation by type of sources, as well as by type of fossil fuel used, with the identification of characteristics of electricity production in Russia. Based on the analysis, the author draws conclusions about the main advantages of the electric power complex of Russia over the countries of the world, as well as about the advantages existing over electricity consumers operating within the country. The analysis made it possible to develop recommendations on the general directions of the implementation of the policy in the field of increasing the energy efficiency of electricity consumption on the scale of the Russian economy.

Subject. This article deals with the issues relating to improving integrated reporting in terms of dovetailing strategic objectives with capital changes. Objectives. The article aims to develop a system of indicators for disclosure of capital types in integrated reporting of electricity generating companies, as well as recommendations aimed at implementing the fundamental concepts and guiding principles of integrated reporting. Methods. For the study, we used the methods of analysis and synthesis, comparison, generalization, and abstraction. As a case study, we conduct a comparative analysis of the disclosure of six types of capital by the largest electricity generating companies, namely PAO Inter RAO, AO Rosenergoatom and PAO RusHydro. Results. The article formulates proposals for disclosure of capital information to address such a lack of accountability as a contradiction to the principle of coherence. It proposes a system of indicators (core and additional) for disclosure of six types of capital by electricity generating companies. Conclusions. A significant reporting problem is the lack of correlation between key strategic objectives and capital changes. The formulated recommendations for disclosure of capital information can help solve this problem, and increase the attractiveness of the integrated report for capital providers.

The digital economy implies a structural transformation in many industries, including the energy sector, without taking into account the state specifics of the industry, for which full-fledged digitalization can be harmful. The aim of the study is to develop a methodology and determine the readiness of countries for digitalization in the electric power industry, taking into account all the main industry groups of factors. The paper analyzes the concept of “energy transition” and defines the indices that are applied to assess this transition at the global level. A system of indices is proposed to determine the degree of readiness for a digital transition in the electric power industry as one of the components of the “energy transition” and the most possible scenario for the transformation of this industry in Russia. The analysis of key areas of digital energy development is presented. The degree of readiness of the leading 100 countries in terms of GDP for digitalization in the electric power industry according to the proposed methodology has been calculated, and the further direction of basic research in this direction has been indicated. Conclusions have been drawn on the appropriateness of developing state programs and the main directions to which DM decision should be drawn with due desire to digitize the industry have been highlighted.
