With the recent electronics upgrade of Antarctic neutron monitors (NMs) DOMC and DOMB in 2019, the Oulu cosmic ray station (Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory, Finland) receives a significantly larger amount of data than before. This has led to a need for an important upgrade of the configuration of servers working at the station. The new configuration has three types of servers: a web-server, a datamaster server and data acquisition machines. The web-server provides a user interface for services of the station: the main website, the GLE database and other services. The datamaster is the main server, which stores all data in raw files and a database. Data acquisition machines are computers that directly receive data from the instruments and send the files farther to the datamaster server. This work describes technical details of the cosmic ray station setup providing reliable and secure data acquisition, handling and publication.

Day by day, the number of users are increasing on the internet and the web servers need to cater to the requests constantly, also if compared to the past years this year, due to a global pandemic and lockdown in various countries, the requests on the web have surged exponentially. The complexity of configuring a web server is also increasing as the development continues. In this paper, we propose a Lightron web server, which is highly scalable and can cater many requests at a time. Additionally, to ease users from the configuration of the web server we introduced Graphical User Interface which is beginner friendly.

The near-Earth cosmic ray flux has been monitored for more than 70 years by a network of ground-based neutron monitors (NMs). With the ever-increasing importance of quantifying the radiation risk and effects of cosmic rays for, e.g., air and space-travel, it is essential to continue operating the existing NM stations, while expanding this crucial network. In this paper, we discuss a smaller and cost-effective version of the traditional NM, the mini-NM. These monitors can be deployed with ease, even to extremely remote locations, where they operate in a semi-autonomous fashion. We believe that the mini-NM, therefore, offers the opportunity to increase the sensitivity and expand the coverage of the existing NM network, making this network more suitable to near-real-time monitoring for space weather applications. In this paper, we present the technical details of the mini-NM’s design and operation, and present a summary of the initial tests and science results.

String searching is a common process in the processes that made the computer because the text is the main form of data storage. Boyer-Moore is the search string from right to left is considered the most efficient methods in practice, and matching string from the specified direction specifically an algorithm that has the best results theoretically. A system that is connected to a computer network that literally pick a web server that is accessed by multiple users in different parts of both good and bad aim. Any activity performed by the user, will be stored in Web server logs. With a log report contained in the web server can help a web server administrator to search the web request error. Web server log is a record of the activities of a web site that contains the data associated with the IP address, time of access, the page is opened, activities, and access methods. The amount of data contained in the resulting log is a log shed useful information.

The identification of sequence (amino acids or nucleotides) motifs in a particular order in biological sequences has proved to be of interest. This paper describes a computing server,SSMBS, which can locate and display the occurrences of user-defined biologically important sequence motifs (a maximum of five) present in a specific order in protein and nucleotide sequences. While the server can efficiently locate motifs specified using regular expressions, it can also find occurrences of long and complex motifs. The computation is carried out by an algorithm developed using the concepts of quantifiers in regular expressions. The web server is available to users around the clock at http://dicsoft1.physics.iisc.ernet.in/ssmbs/.

ABSTRACT Current meters are equipment widely used for estimating flow velocity in rivers and streams. Periodic calibrations of current meters are important to ensure the quality of measurements, but the required testing facilities are complex and only available in a few institutions. However, advances in electronics and automation may contribute to developing simple and reliable calibration systems. Thus, this study aimed to develop an automated system for testing current meters, which consisted of a trapezoidal channel, a step motor, a tow car and a management system, composed of a supervisory application and microprocessed modules to control the motor and the data acquisition. Evaluations of the displacement velocity showed that it matched the reference value up to 1.85 m s-1 for a vertical-axis current meter and 2.3 m s-1 for a horizontal-axis one. The developed system showed reliability during tests, for both current meter movement and data acquisition. The management of the system based on the developed modules and the supervisory application improved its user interface, turning all the procedure into a simple task.
