Sensory stimulation is used by various brands to induce desired behaviours among their customers. Although its effectiveness is recognised in business contexts, little research has been conducted on sensory marketing. In order to contribute to filling this gap, this study sought to build a model that explains how sensory stimulation influences intentions to purchase a brand. Brand experience and brand equity were expected to mediate this relationship. The empirical validation of the model was conducted by carrying out an online survey with a convenience sample of 302 customers of a brand of the catering industry. The data collected were processed using PLS-SEM methodology. The results reveal that sensory stimulation positively influences brand experience and brand equity, which, in turn, have a positive impact on intentions to purchase the brand in question. The relevant contributions that emerged from this study include not only bridging the aforementioned gap in the literature but also offering significant managerial implications.

Studies in the developed economies report that corporate social responsibility (CSR) has effect on brand’s performance. However, there is a dearth of such studies in developing economies like India. Therefore, this study attempts to examine the nexus of CSR and brand equity (BE) in Indian business perspective. For the purpose of this study, questionnaire-based online survey was conducted to collect the empirical data. Structural equation modelling (SEM) technique using AMOS 22.0 was utilized to test structural model. Results indicate that firm’s CSR activities have positive effect on its BE. However, brand awareness, brand image, brand loyalty and purchase intention mediate the CSR and BE relationship. This study adds to the existing CSR literature theoretically and also offers the managerial implications. The findings of this study would help the companies to renovate their management strategies from traditional profit oriented to socially responsible business approach for sustainable business performance.

The mobile phone industry is one of the major technological-based area that the fastest growing industry in the overall world. The purpose of the research report was to find out how the brand preference effect as a mediating variable between brand equity and purchase intention. According to the study, the researcher investigated the level, relationship, and impact of those variables. The study mainly considering the primary data and secondary data. Structured questionnaire was used as the method of data collection and there are 31 research questions. Among them five questions are consist with personal information of the respondent and other twenty-six questions are research information. The five likerts point scale was used which ranging from “strongly agree” to “strongly disagree”. It has been conducted a pilot test to test the reliability of the questionnaire and all the questions are reliable. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS computer package having the univariate and bivariate analysis. A sample of 204 respondents was selected for the study from mobile phone users in Trincomalee district Town and Gravets area. Convenience sample method used to make the sampling frame of the study and also quantitative research approach used for this study. The finding of the study reveals that the brand equity, brand preference and purchase intention were in high level among mobile phone users in Trincomalee district Town and Gravets area. There were high positive relationship among brand equity, brand preference and purchase intention in mobile phone users in Trincomalee district Town and Gravets area. The final objective showed that the positive impact of brand equity on purchase intention, positive impact of brand equity on brand preference and purchase intention, positive impact of brand preference on purchase intention and brand equity and brand preference positively impact on purchase intention. The mediating analysis reveals partial mediation by brand preference the relationship between brand equity and purchase intention.

The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between electronic word of mouth (eWOM) valence, consumer-based brand equity (CBBE) dimensions, and purchase intention. An online survey was conducted to collect the data, with a total of 209 valid responses. The study conducts a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Results provided support for role of eWOM valence in influencing the development of CBBE. Specifically, eWOM valence strongly influences consumer perception of brand quality. Perceived quality and brand preference have strong and positive impact on purchase intention, confirming the importance of brand equity in building purchase intention toward a brand. The study is one of the first to examine the effects of eWOM valence on CBBE dimensions, demonstrating the importance of eWOM valence in the building of brand equity.

In 2001, the website of the Palace Museum was opened to the public, marking that museum’s first step into the digital era in China. Numerous studies and much research has concentrated on how to employ this new technology in order to digitize the museum and its collection. However, little attention has been paid to research regarding visitor satisfaction’s regarding museum websites in China. This research aims to fill the gap. Consequently, this conceptual model has been proposed, and the Palace Museum website was as the research objective. Empirical methodology has been applied and the online survey was created to gather data, which results in a total of 557 questionnaires being analyzed though the SPSS 20.0. The findings demonstrate that system quality, perceived usefulness, perceived usability, and the museum’s image have a positive impact on visitor satisfaction regarding their continuance intention. Furthermore, managerial implications are proposed for museum practitioners.

The purpose of this research is to examine the influence of consumer sentiments on purchase intention toward foreign products and to determine which personality traits are responsible for the formation of consumer sentiments. In this study, we employed Structural Equation Modeling to test the research model using data collected from a survey of 400 young Vietnamese consumers in Ho Chi Minh City. The results provide empirical evidence of the positive impact of consumer cosmopolitanism and xenocentrism on consumers’ purchase intention toward foreign products. Furthermore, through this study, we indicated that certain personality traits shape consumer sentiments. Generally speaking, in the context of foreign consumption, there is an enhanced link between personality traits and purchase intention via the mediating role of consumer sentiments. Theoretical and managerial implications are also discussed.

The aim of this study is to examine the effects of event quality, spectator satisfaction and experience on brand equity of the sponsor in a sport event. In order to carry out this study, 352 spectators that attended the Banco do Brasil (Bank of Brazil) Circuit of Beach Volleyball answered a closed questionnaire. For data analysis, it is used the structural equation modeling. The results indicated that the quality of the event generates satisfaction, which confi rms increases the brand equity of the event sponsor. In addition, the spectators’ experience with the sponsoring brand also confirms the positive impact on brand equity. The quality of the event, the satisfaction of the spectators with the event and their sponsor's brand experience are elements that, if well managed and explored, contribute positively to sponsors’ brand equity. These strategies should be aimed both by sports managers, as a way to attract and retain sponsors, and by sponsors’ brand managers, as a way to get return on investment. For this purpose, the sport managers and sponsors should undertake a planning together to offer a high-quality event enabling an environment that provides spectators’ satisfaction and a positive experience with the sponsor brand. In theoretical terms, this research brought greater knowledge about the return of investments made by companies on sport sponsorship, and, the use of statistical methods in this study can be replicated, adjusted or even enhanced in future researches that investigate the theme sport events and their sponsors.

Businessmen’s marketing strategies that take advantage of the fame of celebgrams as influencers are incredibly appropriate in the social media era. The present study deals with the dynamics of celebgram trustworthiness and social interaction with their followers in relation to possession envy and consumer purchase intention. To test the proposed model, the researchers collected data from 181 respondents in Indonesia through an online survey and analyzed it using the Smart PLS. The results of the present study showed that celebgram trustworthiness had no positive effect on possession envy but it had a positive effect on consumer purchase intention. Furthermore, parasocial interactions had a positive effect on possession envy and consumer purchase intention and possession envy had a positive effect on consumer purchase intention. The present study provides a theoretical contribution to the literature on retail and consumer services and offers managerial implications for instafamous-based marketing.

PurposeThe COVID-19 outbreak has been rapidly spreading around the world for more than a year. However, few studies have explored the connection between the perceived severity of COVID-19 and purchase intention of the health-related products, for example, organic food. Based on the stimulus–organism–response (S-O-R) framework, this study examines the influencing mechanism of perceived severity of COVID-19 on purchase intention of organic food.Design/methodology/approachTo evaluate the proposed model, an online survey was utilized to collect 1,104 valid questionnaires from China.FindingsThe findings suggest that (1) the perceived severity of COVID-19 has a significant positive impact on purchasing intention; (2) health consciousness acts as a mediating role between perceived severity of COVID-19 and purchasing intention and (3) perceived inconvenience negatively moderates the connection between perceived severity and purchase intention.Originality/valueThe findings of this paper provide new insights into the positive effects of COVID-19 and pave the way for governments and enterprises to promote the purchase behaviour of organic food.

Purpose In the highly saturated sports industry where sport teams represent a complex offering loaded with intangible and tangible attributes, it is important to implement appropriate marketing strategies that will ultimately contribute to the development of strong brand equity. In this paper, the authors focused on the relationship between brand variables and marketing activities on the development of brand equity. More specifically, the purpose of this paper is to study the impact of brand personality on the evaluation of marketing promotional activities and the impact on the brand equity. Design/methodology/approach Respondents (2,400) were recruited through an online survey and data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Findings The survey revealed that the congruence between the brand personality and the promotional activities has a positive impact on its evaluation and on brand equity. In addition, the results showed that consumers who consider the financial strength of the team as an important factor evaluate more positively the value of congruent and incongruent promotional activities. Practical implications Brand managers should maintain consistency between their brand personality and their promotional activities in order to maintain and increase their brand equity. Originality/value The results contribute to the literature by investigating the impact of brand personality on the evaluation of promotional activities. Also, it examines an important factor (financial consciousness) that could influence how fans react in front of an incongruent promotional activity. This research brings a better understanding of the impact of brand personality on marketing strategies and brand equity.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is twofold: first, to explore the influence of an individual’s attitude towards advertising and country-of-origin (COO) images (brand origin (BO) and country of manufacture (COM)) on brand equity creation; and second, to investigate how brand typicality moderates the effect of BO macro image on perceived quality. Design/methodology/approach The data to test the hypotheses were elicited from a consumer survey in the Greater Lisbon area (305 Portuguese consumers). The product category of smartphones was selected for two main reasons: it has not been extensively analysed in previous studies on the subject of brand equity; it is a device well-known to Portuguese consumers (particularly in the Greater Lisbon area). Three criteria guided the selection of the brands. The first criterion is to select brands which are well-known to consumers. The second is to choose brands with a distinctive BO and a main COM. The third and final criterion is to consider brands in different positions in the brand ranking. In order to estimate structural path coefficients, R2, Q2, and bootstrap techniques, the current study employs the partial least squares approach. Findings The results show that individuals’ attitudes towards advertisements have a positive impact on brand equity creation, whereas those towards the COM do not significantly influence brand equity creation. Attitudes towards BO only have a partial influence. Brand typicality, however, exerts a significant direct effect on brand equity dimensions and, hence, does not have a significant moderating effect. Research limitations/implications The authors suggest analysing the influence of COO on dimensions of brand equity considering consumer segmentation, types of industry and a range of brands, as well as different levels of consumer involvement with the product category. Several brands with the same COO should be analysed in order to understand whether the effects on brand equity depend on the product category. Although the current study is a first attempt to combine the potential effect of individuals’ attitudes towards advertisements and COO on creating brand equity, further research should examine additional potential antecedents of brand equity. Finally, cross-cultural studies are recommended. Practical implications Regarding managerial implications, three main aspects should be taken into consideration. First, creative, original and different advertising strategies are more effective than the COO in creating brand equity and, consequently, in building loyalty among smartphone consumers. Second, consumers do not tend to care about the place, country or region where the smartphone is produced, but the image of the country where the brand originated may be important. Finally, managers should be aware that, at least, in the smartphone sector, the way consumers create favourable associations with the brand and typicality, trust the company and consider it good value for money, are more effective in building brand loyalty than the perceived quality of the product/brand. Social implications Relating to the interrelationship between COO and brand equity, the results of the current study prove that the effects of COO are category specific. Therefore, more studies focussed on other contexts of products and brands are still needed to know in more detail how COO exerts an influence on brand equity dimensions. Even within a product category context, the results can depend on individual brands being analysed. Originality/value To the knowledge of the authors, this study is the first to investigate the dual (simultaneous) effect of individuals’ attitudes towards advertisements and COO images on brand equity dimensions. Adding to the originality of the paper, the category of smartphone with respect to brand equity has not been extensively analysed in previous studies.
