Introduction: Between 2004 and 2007, a birth cohort of Egyptian children was analysed to evaluate the epidemiology of enteric diseases. Methodology: A stool sample was collected from the study children every two weeks as well as whenever they experienced diarrhea. Samples were tested for routine bacterial pathogens as well as enteropathogenic viruses and parasites. A secondary goal of the study was to evaluate the burden of less commonly reported pathogens including Aeromonas hydrophila. Results: Of the 348 study subjects, 79 had A. hydrophila isolated from their stool at some point during the study.  Thirty-six children had exclusively symptomatic (S) infections while 33 had exclusively asymptomatic (AS) infections. However, 10 children had both S and AS infections. Among symptomatic cases, A. hydrophila was the sole pathogen isolated 36% of the time. An important aspect of A. hydrophila associated diarrhea was the high level of resistance to cephalosporins. Conclusion: Although relatively uncommon, A. hydrophila was found to be associated with diarrhea among children living in Egypt and was frequently multi-drug resistant.

The present study was isolate Bacterial pathogens form Urinary Tract Infection and identified the Bacterial pathogens from UTI patients. Determination of the antibiotic drug resistant pattern of the isolated pathogenic bacteria using standard antibiotic discs Ampicilin (25μg), Erithromycin (15μg), Chloramphenicol (10μg) Gentamicin (10μg) and Tetracycline (30 μg).The study was carried out, in vitro screening of ethanolic extracts of some medicinal plants against the bacterial pathogens Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosawere isolate from the UTI. When compared with standard antibiotic disc selected plants extracts were showed maximum zone of inhibition against all the pathogens. This investigation strongly recommends that phytochemical studies are required to determine the types of compounds responsible for the antibacterial effect of these medicinal plants. Linkages between diet and other lifestyle factors may confound observational studies. We used cluster analysis to analyze how the intake of food and nutrients during pregnancy co-varies with lifestyle, clinical and demographic factors in 567 women who participated in the NICE (nutritional impact on immunological maturation during childhood in relation to the environment) birth-cohort in northern Sweden. A food frequency questionnaire, Meal-Q, was administered in pregnancy Week 34, and the reported food and nutrient intakes were related to maternal characteristics such as age, education, rural/town residence, parity, pre-pregnancy smoking, first-trimester BMI, allergy and hyperemesis. Two lifestyle-diet clusters were identified: (1) High level of education and higher age were related to one another, and associated with a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and fish, and (2) smoking before pregnancy and higher BMI in early pregnancy were related to one another and associated with a diet that contained white bread, French fries, pizza, meat, soft drinks, candy and snacks. More than half of the women had lower-than-recommended daily intake levels of vitamin D, folate, selenium, and iodine. Complex lifestyle-diet interactions should be considered in observational studies that link diet and pregnancy outcome.
