With the development of computer and internet technology, web-based autonomous learning is increasingly becoming an essential element in the learning process for college students. Web-based autonomous learning, based on humanism and constructivism, has combined autonomous learning and internet technology, and opened up a new path to college English learning. Mastering English is even more important for engineering students whose native language is not English, as many engineering graduates encounter difficulties in their English-related work. Most scientific papers or journals globally are written in English. Most engineering graphs are also marked in English. To prepare engineering students for their future careers and life-long study, research is conducted in this paper to investigate the current situation of web-based autonomous English learning of engineering students in particular and current problems in their process of learning. Based on research findings, possible solutions and suggestions are proposed to solve the problems and improve students’ autonomy in English learning.

<p>In college education, more emphasis is placed on the subjectivity and freedom of students, so weak self-control often affects the final learning effect in English learning. Learning foreign language needs patience, so how to cultivate college students' self-learning ability is one of the problems worth thinking about in the current education. The cultivation of students' autonomous learning ability will directly affect the teaching efficiency of teachers, so in the process of teaching, teachers should consciously cultivate students' autonomous awareness of English learning, so as to improve students' self-control ability and optimize the effect of English learning. This paper is mainly based on the current situation of college students' autonomous learning ability, and gives corresponding optimization strategies, in order to better enhance students' enthusiasm in English learning.</p>

To improve the English proficiency of college students, this paper attempts to promote autonomous English learning among these students using artificial intel-ligence technology. Specifically, the principles, features and application fields of artificial intelligence were introduced in details, and the requirements, structure, database and processes of autonomous English learning systems were discussed at length. On this basis, the backpropagation (BP) neural network, a typical artifi-cial intelligence technique, was selected to design the modules of the autonomous English learning system for college students. The proposed system was then im-plemented in integrated open environment of Visual Studio, the architecture of the browser/server system and the SQL Server database on the Windows platform. The results show that the proposed system provides college students with intelli-gent and open self-evaluation tests and effective learning feedbacks. The research findings shed new light on improving the English learning of college students and reliving the pressure on college English teachers.

The cultivation of students&rsquo; autonomous learning ability is one of the significant and essential tasks of college English teaching. In this paper, the current situation of college students&rsquo; insufficient autonomous English learning ability is thoroughly analyzed. Some effective and feasible strategies to cultivate students&rsquo; autonomous English learning ability are put forward based on the factors that influence this ability. Interaction, continuous thinking, cultural introduction and a good network environment are indispensable to develop and enhance this autonomous learning ability.

Based on the demand of modern teaching, this paper researches the application of and problems faced by Mongolian information processing and computer multimedia technology in computer-assisted instruction. It also sets the teaching software content and learning goal and further designs the teaching software according to the English learning features and characteristics of choosing the medium of information of Mongolian college students. This software is suitable for use in learning and teaching bilingualism second language to Mongolian students, and teachers and can realize the independent code of bilingual characters, Mongolian input and output, Mongolian character handling and bilingual inter-translation functions. Manufacture and development of bilingual teaching software facilitates the enthusiasm of Mongolian college students to learn English, improve the language learning environment and plays a positive facilitation role in multilanguage integration and cultural development of the Mongolian area.

Since the turn of the 21st century, many Chinese higher institutions followed the trends of Web-based Computer-assisted Language Learning (CALL) in College English instruction. After one decade's development, the effectiveness of this west-originated approach remains to be investigated. This chapter analyses two cases from two Chinese higher institutions, examining to what extent Web-based computer-assisted language learning is integrated into College English teaching and how the instructors and students adapt to it. The findings in the two cases show that lack of training for both faculty and students, technological defects of online systems, hybrid levels of students' English proficiency within one class have presented great challenges to the implementation of the new mode of instruction. While defining these obstacles, the second case, in particular, explored ways to address some of these challenges by the innovative use of internet technology.

College English learning now has attracted a great deal of attention, but many non-English majors students have major problems in terms of English learning, and how to improve the non-English majors' autonomous learning efficiency is the problem that the majority of English educators can not ignore. Through a college non-English major students' English learning science test survey, usual English learning and English language proficiency scores for tracking and monitoring, and data for scientific analysis, and monitoring results, this article indicates that by increasing the non-English majors' autonomous learning teaching mode, the students' efficiency and academic performance have improved significantly. From subsequent cognitive satisfaction survey for self-acceptance, this teaching mode's performance is quite satisfactory.

Since the 21st century, the cultivation and improvement of college students&#39; English autonomous learning ability have become an important symbol of deepening the reform of College English teaching. The reform of teaching model is the critical to it. With the help of the self-constructed flipped classroom teaching model, this paper designs the corresponding teaching process, aiming at investigating the three dimensions of self-management learning ability, self-learning psychology and self-learning behavior of non-English majors. After the investigation and experiment on the control class and the experimental class for the whole semester, the experimental results show that the self-regulated learning model of College English based on the flipped classroom can greatly improve the comprehensive English level of College students, and the flipped classroom teaching model of College English can effectively improve the students&#39; self-management learning ability, stimulate students &#39;motivation of autonomous learning and activate students&#39; autonomous learning behavior. Thus, it opens up a new path for the cultivation of College Students &#39;autonomous learning ability.

Based on the researches of listening strategies at home and abroad, this study tries to explore the use of listening strategy by Chinese non-English major college students under the internet autonomous learning environment. The results from the questionnaires and interviews of listening strategies used by different level students have some implications for teachers. Listening strategies play an important role in the process of listening comprehension and skillful listeners tend to use all the listening strategies more frequently than the unskillful ones in their listening activities. So it is necessary for college English teachers to conduct strategy training in students’ listening comprehension especially in this new learning environment.
