Today educational technology and computer applications can enhance the level of impact of the educational process, currently a heavy research has more and more interested in computing technologies and applications. This work presents a proposed architecture of an intelligent system for the automated assessment of student's production when modeling an UML class diagram from textual specification, this assessment becomes really difficult in problem of diagrammatic answers. The main objective is to develop a system to assess the UML class diagrams by defining differences, errors made by the students, grading them and providing critical feedbacks, and this could be easier for any teachers to assess any number of students. To achieve this goal we have to analyze, transform and compare the student’s diagram with the reference’s production provided by teacher.

Developing and using conceptual models require modelers’ cognitive efforts. To identify and analyze the cognitive difficulties of modelers in developing and using conceptual models, two laboratory studies were conducted using UML class diagram as a conceptual modeling technique. In the first study, two groups of modelers were trained to develop UML class diagrams, with only one group being trained to develop the diagrams using ontological rules. All these diagrams were then provided to a different set of modelers who used them to answer domain understanding tasks. It was found that modelers who used the ontological rules had less difficulty in developing the diagrams than those who didn’t. Similarly, modelers who used the diagrams developed by the group trained with rules had less difficulty in performing problem solving tasks than the modelers who used the diagrams developed by the group without training. It was observed that the cognitive difficulties of the modelers of the first study were transferred to the modelers in the second study.

This paper deals with the problem of the evaluation of the student's productions during the construction of a UML class diagram from textual speciations, which can be a tedious task for teachers. The main objective is to propose a method of summative and semi-automatic evaluation of the class diagrams produced by the students, in order to provide an educational reaction on the learning process, and to reduce the evaluation work for the teachers. To achieve this objective, we must analyze these productions and study the transformation, matching, similarity measurement and comparison of several UML graphs. From this study, we adopted a method based on the comparison and matching of the components of several UML diagrams. This proposal is applied to evaluate UML class diagrams and focuses on the structural and semantic aspects of the UML graph produced by students compared to several solutions proposed by the teacher.

The development of the pharmaceutical industry is one of the priority tasks of our state, aimed at providing the population of the Russian Federation with modern safe and effective medicines. The solution to this problem is impossible without the formation of a highly qualified personnel potential that meets the demand and expectations of the pharmaceutical market and society as a whole. In this regard, in the system of training of pharmacists in recent years, quite dynamic and flexible transformations have been taking place, dictated by the urgent needs of domestic health care. It should be noted that in the process of implementing this educational standard, the competency-based approach to organizing the process of training modern pharmacists comes to the fore. One of the effective tools for the formation of professional competencies in various educational fields is the case study method. Case study is a training method based on the analysis of real situations from various areas of professional activity and contributing to the development of specialist competency. The competency-based orientation of the case study method is in line with modern ideas about the organization of the educational process for the training of pharmacists. The case study method is actively used in the process of teaching disciplines of the curriculum of the Federal State Budget Educational Establishment of Higher Education KubGMU of the Ministry of Health of Russia, specialty 33.05.01 Pharmacy. Examples of case study tasks as educational technology are presented in the work programs of the curriculum disciplines of the specialty 33.05.01 Pharmacy developed at the Department of Pharmacy. Depending on the content of the taught discipline, these tasks simulate a particular situation from the professional activities of pharmacists, offered to students for a comprehensive analysis and evaluation. The use of this educational technology contributes to the integration of knowledge, skills acquired in the learning process and their competency-based profiling in accordance with the current level of development of domestic health care.

Purpose The development of context-aware applications in ubiquitous environments depends not only on the user interactions but also on several context parameters. The handling of these parameters is a fundamental problem in these systems. The key purpose of this work is to enrich the unified modeling language (UML) class diagram with new constructs to provide a universal model capable of coping with the context-awareness concerns. Design/methodology/approach The authors provide a review of existing context handling approaches. Afterward, they relied on the UML extensibility mechanisms to propose a heavyweight extension for the UML class diagram. This generic approach allows describing the different context parameters since the modeling phase. Findings Existing solutions for context handling apply the contextual constraints on finished applications or tend to be dependent on a specific development process. This paper presents a solution based on UML, which allows dealing with context since the modeling phase, and independently of development processes. This proposal is implemented as an eclipse editor and illustrated through a case study in the healthcare field. Originality/value This paper addresses the problem of context handling, and it presents a review of the foremost existing solutions. The paper also presents a heavyweight extension for the UML class diagram, which consists in enriching it with additional constructs, capable of monitoring how applications are linked to context parameters and how the values of these parameters may affect the application behavior.
