This paper explores the factors of enhancing employed job seekers intention to use social networking sites as a job search tool. 190 survey questionnaires were distributed to employed job seekers who have used social networking sites via the snowball sampling approach. The collected data were analysed using both linear and multiple regression analysis. The results showed that perceived usefulness and perceived enjoyment are positively and significantly related to the behavioural intention to use social networking sites as a job search tool, whereas perceived ease of use is not positively and significantly related. The study implies that the developers of social networking sites need to provide additional useful functionalities or tools in the social networking sites to help users of social networking sites with their job search. The paper provides an insight for employed jobseekers to find employment by using social networking sites as a job search tool.

This paper examines job searching among employed job seekers through the social networking sites. One hundred ninety survey questionnaires were distributed to employed job seekers who have used online social networking sites via the snowball sampling approach. The collected data were analysed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique via the Analysis of Moment Structure (AMOS 16) computer program. The results showed that perceived usefulness and perceived enjoyment are positively and significantly related to the behavioural intention to use online social networking sites as a job search tool, whereas perceived ease of use is not positively and significantly related. The study implies that the developers of online social networking sites must provide additional useful functionalities or tools to help users with their job searches. These sites must also assure that they do not disclose individuals’ private and confidential information without the consent. The paper provides insight for employed jobseekers by using online social networking sites as a job search tool.

This chapter aims to examine the factors influencing employed job seekers’ acceptance of social networking sites as a job search tool. It was found that perceived usefulness and perceived enjoyment are positively and significantly related to the behavioral intention to use social networking sites as a job search tool, whereas perceived ease of use is not positively and significantly related to the behavioral intention to use social networking sites as a job search tool. The study implies that the developers of social networking sites need to provide additional useful functionalities or tools in the social networking sites to help users of social networking site with their job searches. There needs to be an assurance that social networking sites will not disclose an individual’s private and confidential information without his or her consent.

This research is conducted to examine the factors that influence the behavioural intention of millienials in using SNS when seeking for a job. The data was collected from respondents who are from the generation Y demographic and actively looking for jobs. The respondents must possess some experience in using SNS when job hunting. The data was then gathered and analyzed using partial least square (PLS) which encompasses the measurement and structural models of the study. The findings revealed that three of the constructs as applied in TAM are statistically significant to behavioural intention. The three factors that influenced the job seekers’ intention to use SNSs as a job search tool are; perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and privacy concerns. All these factors are elements which contribute to and have a significant relationship with job seekers’ intention to use SNSs, as verified using PLS data analysis. The recruiters or employers who intend to adopt SNSs in the recruitment process are advised to design the recruitment plan regarding the utilization of SNSs to be more convenient and user-friendly. This study provides insight and knowledge regarding the impact of technology in online job application and hiring processes.

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to determine the beliefs that influence university students to use social networking sites (SNS) for expressive participation in social movements. Design/methodology/approach – The original technology acceptance model (TAM), a quantitative methodological approach, and a survey were used to collect responses from 214 university students in Spain. Structural equation modelling was used to test the proposed relationships. Findings – Results confirm that the perceived ease of use (PEU) and perceived usefulness (PU) of SNS significantly affect a student's intention to use SNS for expressive social participation in social movements, with use intention significantly affecting actual participation. There was no significant moderating effect of students' gender on these relationships. Originality/value – Although there is much discussion in the popular press about how people use SNS, there is no published empirical research on the determinants that contribute to a person's intention to use and actual use of SNS in the context of social movements. This paper is one of the first studies to investigate young people's perception of the SNS usefulness and ease of the use for participation in social movements.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine the views of university students on social networking sites (SNSs) adoption for educational purposes and investigate the factors that motivate students to use SNSs for academic purposes.Design/methodology/approachA survey method of research was adopted and questionnaires were administered to the respondent group. A total of 522 valid responses from the University of Ghana Business School Students were used in the empirical analysis. Regression analysis was used to examine the relationship among the key constructs of the study.FindingsThe results of this study suggest that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, the existence of facilitating conditions and the purposes of SNSs are the key factors that motivate students to adopt SNSs for academic purposes. However, the influence of other people in society and the desire to be identified with social groups were found not to be important predictors of SNSs use by students for educational purposes.Research limitations/implicationsThe data examined in this study are based on sample responses from only one university, which may limit the extent of generalization of the findings.Originality/valueThis paper provides some useful insights into the key predictors of SNSs adoption for educational use by university students from the perspective of a developing country.

Current wave of Social Networking Sites (SNS) has become a part of peoples’ daily lives. This study investigates the role of Personal Innovativeness in Information Technology (PIIT), in acceptance of SNS. The theoretical perspective of Technological Acceptance Model (TAM) and PIIT were used to explain the relationships developed in the study. This research is descriptive in nature and is based on primary data collected through self-administered questionnaires, among a sample of 216 undergraduates in Sri Lanka. Findings reconfirmed the relationships in original TAM, enabling to use TAM in SNS context. Further, PIIT significantly predicts the Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) of SNS. However, PIIT did not moderate the relationship between Perceived Usefulness (PU) and Intention to Use (IU) SNS. Theoretical and practical implications of these findings and directions for further research are discussed.

The LINE application is often conceived as purely social space; however, the authors of this paper wanted to determine if it could be used for academic purposes. In this study, we examined how undergraduate students accepted LINE in terms of using it for classroom-related activities (e.g., submit homework, follow up course information queries, download materials) and explored the factors that might affect their intention to use it. Data were collected from 144 undergraduate students enrolled in an English course that utilized some activities based on LINE app using a questionnaire developed from TAM. Data were analyzed to see if relationships existed among factors when LINE was used to organize classroom experiences. The findings revealed that perceived usefulness and attitude toward usage had positive relationships with intention to use while perceived ease of use was positively related to perceived usefulness. In contrast with TAM assertions, this study did not find any relationship between perceived ease of use and attitude toward usage. Also, the number of social networking sites that students are using had no relationship with intention to use. The study also suggested some kinds of LINE-based learning activities preferred by students, which would be proposed for future courses. This study revealed several useful implications that TAM can be employed as a useful theoretical framework to predict and understand users’ intention to use new technologies in education.

With the rapid growth of information technology, electronic money has played an important and central role in the e-payment. Development of electronic money is able to create a trend less-cash society, which is a society’s behavior using non- cash transactions by utilizing the simplicity offered through electronic transactions. The purpose of this research is to determine the factors affecting the intention to use electronic money. We designed a questionnaire and used it to survey a simple random sampling of people who use of e-money in DKI Jakarta. The actual samples used for the study are 125 respondents. We analyzed the data using Structured Equation Modeling to evaluate the strength of the hypothesized effects. The result of the analysis showed that perceived ease of use has no significant effect on attitudes towards the use of e-money. Perceived ease of use has a significant effect on the perceived usefulness of e-money. Perceived usefulness has no significant effect on the intention to use e-money. Perceived usefulness has a significant effect on attitudes towards the use of e-money. Attitude has a significant effect on the intention to use e-money. Subjective norm has a significant effect on the intention to use e-money. Perceived behavioral control has no significant effect on the intention to use e-money. Keywords: electronic money, technology acceptance model, the theory of planned behavior.
