To further open the conversation about women's empowerment and global collaborations using new networking technologies, this chapter problematizes some prevalent ideas about creativity and social networking, notes suggested change that carry anti-feminist sentiments throughout the world, and suggests a number of ways that women and men can all benefit from an opening of queries about innovative ways of working together online. With the suggested expansions, the authors welcome more inclusive and invitational discussion about future digital media research and development.

The assumption that women are not capable of generating big ideas is entrenched in the mainstream consciousness and may appear in many guises. In the current mainstream discourse on women’s use of social networking technologies, similar assumptions implicitly presuppose that, compared with men’s use of the new social networking technologies, women’s ideas and activities on the social Web are deficient and less serious. To open further the conversation about women’s empowerment on the social Web and enhance feminist global collaborations using new social networking technologies, the authors problematize seven hidden assumptions in both the academic and popular discourse about women’s ideas, interests, and practices on the social Web and raise more questions about women, ideas, and social networking technologies. The analysis reveals that until gendered assumptions about women’s ideas and social networking are examined, digital inequities cannot be adequately addressed.

This paper intends to explore further about the widow empowerment activities carried out by the Women Farmers Group (KWT) located in Giri Mulyo Village, Kayu Aro Barat District, Kerinci Regency. As it is known, KWT Pelangi Kopi aims to improve the lives of the people of Giri Mulyo Village by prioritizing women who are widows. KWT Pelangi Kopi focuses its activities on local agricultural products, such as coffee, oranges, and turquoise eggplants. Agricultural products are processed into various products to sell, so that it can increase the income of the members. This community is important and interesting to study, because the activities / programs they run are closely related to the poverty alleviation agenda and improving people's welfare which is an important agenda of the government, even in all countries in the world. This community has become even more interesting because its members are only women and are also managed by women. Thus, besides being related to poverty and welfare issues, this community is also closely related to women's empowerment.

This article explores social movement theory and attempts to modernize and explain contemporary movements with consideration of the digital tools being utilized by citizens on the ground. The ability to transcend borders and traditional boundaries using digital media, to facilitate international participation and develop communication, and the dissemination of information and coordination among activist networks around the world is hugely important. This article asserts that modern contentious collective actions and contemporary movements have received an infusion of autonomy and grassroots energy fueled by digital technologies, and social networking platforms.

This chapter asserts that modern contentious collective actions and contemporary movements have received an infusion of autonomy and grassroots energy fueled by the internet, digital technologies, and social networking platforms using Applied Programming Interface (API). Arab Spring movements in Egypt and Tunisia illustrate the use of social media within this emergent framework.

AbstractSince the first description of a coronavirus-related pneumonia outbreak in December 2019, the virus SARS-CoV-2 that causes the infection/disease (COVID-19) has evolved into a pandemic, and as of today, >100 million people globally in over 210 countries have been confirmed to have been infected and two million people have died of COVID-19. This brief review summarized what we have hitherto learned in the following areas: epidemiology, virology, and pathogenesis, diagnosis, use of artificial intelligence in assisting diagnosis, treatment, and vaccine development. As there are a number of parallel developments in each of these areas and some of the development and deployment were at unprecedented speed, we also provided some specific dates for certain development and milestones so that the readers can appreciate the timing of some of these critical events. Of note is the fact that there are diagnostics, antiviral drugs, and vaccines developed and approved by a regulatory within 1 year after the virus was discovered. As a number of developments were conducted in parallel, we also provided the specific dates of a number of critical events so that readers can appreciate the evolution of these research data and our understanding. The world is working together to combat this pandemic. This review also highlights the research and development directions in these areas that will evolve rapidly in the near future.
