A lot has been said about the digital natives and their natural way of integrating the internet in their daily activities. Millennials have been considered a unique segment of consumers by researchers and practitioners alike, due to their ability and propensity to adopt and adapt new media to their daily routine. Although it is expectable that they are particularly keen on embracing IoT, extant literature is scarce on their views on the adoption of IoT to their home, work, and leisure activities. In this chapter, the authors analyze the potential of the millennial segment to IoT products and services. Results of a qualitative study with Portuguese consumers are included and provide interesting cues to marketers working with IoT offers.

Drying clothes is one of the daily activities of people who use solar energy. With these conditions, people are very dependent on weather conditions that are sometimes erratic. One of the right ways is by utilizing technology, namely using an automatic clothesline using a Wemos D1Mini microcontroller, equipped with an LDR sensor that will read light intensity and the DHT11 sensor will read humidity and temperature around the environment. This tool is also based on the Internet of Things which can be accessed from anywhere as long as it is connected to the internet. Keyword: Microcontroller, LDR sensor, DHT11 sensor, Internet of Things.

Abstract: The Internet of Things (IoT) is the most recent technology platform. We may regulate our daily routine work, such as home applications, control, and simple communication systems, using IOT, and improve our digital services. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a system that intelligently adds everyday content information to the internet in order to facilitate communication between objects and humans, as well as among themselves. In this study, we demonstrate how IoT can improve home automation. The relay, Node MCU, which is a network access component, is used in our suggested system. We can control that equipment using an IoT-based system technique. Mobile phones, computers, and tablets are used as user interfaces in home automation systems. They can connect to the home automation network through a wireless internet connection. The user will interact with the system directly via the control interface, while home appliances will be controlled remotely via a mobile app. An additional aspect of the home automation system is that it may be protected remotely. This redesigned design concept provided a home automation system that could be controlled efficiently. Keywords: IOT, home automation, smart home, relay, response time, Node MCU (ESP8266)

Internet of Things is a concept where internet connectivity can exchange information with one another with the existing devices around it. IoT can help humans in their daily activities. In general, Internet of Things-based devices can perform controlling and scheduling. In this research, an analysis of the level of power saving using smart lamp and smart plug devices based on the Internet of Things will be carried out. The analysis carried out in this study used the PIECES method which is a framework that can classify a problem, opportunity, and directives. Research on the efficiency of electricity savings based on IoT devices will be supported using devices and applications from Bardi Smart Home. In addition to the PIECES method, this analysis and research is supported by using the IoT framework: Conceptual Framework, and will be supported by IoT-based devices from Bardi Smart Home.

Internet of things (IoT) is increasingly present in our lives. As a consequence of connecting devices, IoT can make people's lives more convenient and comfortable. However, despite unquestionable benefits offered by IoT, there is still a great deal of concern from users and companies about the security and privacy of their data. In this sense, this study conducts a qualitative study based on three case studies of companies in the IoT field, which aims to characterize how these IoT companies look at the security and privacy challenges posed by IoT. The findings allowed the authors to identify the main challenges faced by IoT companies during the past years, the main privacy risks exposed by IoT devices, and the countermeasures that companies and users can adopt to increase the security of IoT.

Communication between people isunavoidable nowadays; sending and receiving information through internet among people is our daily routine which is known as Internet of People. Hence, this kind of communication has grown even more, making possible to communicate not just people but also things which is known as Internet of Things, one of the trendiest technology. The Internet of Things or IoT refers to the billions of physical devices around the world that are now connected to the internet, collecting and sharing data. The increase of population in urban places and their requirements impose the creation of a system that will satisfy all of these requirements. Due to the increasing number of population the numbers of things that people own has grown enormously. Therefore, this fact generated the idea of adding sensors and intelligence to basic objects. Thanks to cheap processors, wireless network, sensors and actuators is possible to turn anything, from a pill to an aeroplane, into part of the Internet of Things. Combining these digital things in the past was very difficult or barely possible simply because the technology was not ready. The IoT integrates the interconnectedness of human culture- our “things” with the interconnectedness of our digital information system- “the internet”.The development of modern technologies and the Internet of Things establishmentmerged the digital and physical worlds, namely adding digital intelligence to devices that would be otherwise dumb, enabling them to communicate. The potential of this tendencyincreases day by day, enabling a very wide usage. The Internet of Things aims to provide a simple interaction between the physical world and virtual world, integrating a large number of devices of the real world to the internet. The Internet of Things promises to make our environment - our homes, offices and vehicles smarter, more measurable and chattier. The benefits of Internet of Things depend on the particular implementation, but the key is that enterprises should have access to more data about their own things and their own internal system and a greater ability to make changes as a result. It is impossible to predict all IoT applications considering the swift progress of technology and the diversely requirements of consumers. Thus, in our paper we will mention some of the most used and most important applications of IoT, as well the benefits of its implementation in different platforms in different environments. In the end, we emphasize the challenges we face during IoT application, moreoverthe common issues in the adoption of IoT on a large scale.

The existing stand-alone multimedia machines and online multimedia machines in the market have certain deficiencies, so they cannot meet the actual needs. Based on this, this research combines the actual needs to design and implement a multi-media system based on the Internet of Things and cloud service platform. Moreover, through in-depth research on the MQTT protocol, this study proposes a message encryption verification scheme for the MQTT protocol, which can solve the problem of low message security in the Internet of Things communication to a certain extent. In addition, through research on the fusion technology of the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, this research designs scheme to provide a LightGBM intelligent prediction module interface, MQTT message middleware, device management system, intelligent prediction and push interface for the cloud platform. Finally, this research completes the design and implementation of the cloud platform and tests the function and performance of the built multimedia system database. The research results show that the multimedia database constructed in this paper has good performance.

This paper discusses the organisations involved in the development of application standards, European regulations and best practice guides, their scope of work and internal structures. It considers their respective visions for the requirements for future standardisation work and considers in more detail those areas where these overlap, namely human centric or integrative lighting, connectivity and the Internet of Things, inclusivity and sustainability.
