On the Design of Knowledge Management System for R&D Organization

This chapter proposes a framework for designing knowledge management system (KMS) for R&D organization. Broadly, KMS comprises two principal modules: a process management module to administer knowledge activities to generate and utilize knowledge, and a contents management module to deal with knowledge contents, input and output of knowledge activities. The two modules are then materialized through two operational systems: workflow management system (WFMS) for R&D process and R&D knowledge management system (RKMS) for R&D contents. As a building block to integrate the two systems, workflow-based knowledge map is suggested. The authors admit that the research is an exploratory proposal that suggests merely a conceptual scheme. Therefore, it is required to elaborate detailed procedure and materialize real system.

<p class="Abstrak">Meningkatnya jumlah populasi penduduk di Indonesia berdampak pada terbatasnya luas wilayah pertanian di Kota Bogor yang mengakibatkan ancaman produksi pertanian karena konversi lahan persawahan sebesar 88,12% menjadi perumahan dan kebun. Solusi sistem produksi pertanian dengan terbatasnya lahan salah satunya adalah hidroponik. Untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan budidaya hidroponik dan memudahkan akses fasilitas belajar digital sebagai bagian penting dari rencana pemerintah Kota Bogor yaitu <em>smart society </em>diperlukan dukungan teknologi informasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan <em>Knowledge Management System </em>(KMS) budidaya hidroponik dengan mengadopsi metode <em>Knowledge Management Life Cycle</em> melalui identifikasi pengetahuan <em>tacit</em> maupun <em>explicit </em>dari komunitas hidroponik. Proses menangkap pengetahuan berorientasi pada seluruh proses budidaya sayuran hidroponik dengan menggunakan bibit yang siap tanam. <em>Knowledge map </em>digunakan untuk kodifikasi pengetahuan menghasilkan 34 pengetahuan <em>explicit</em> berupa media interaktif video maupun dokumen yang dapat digunakan oleh pengguna. Implementasi sistem menggunakan aplikasi berbasis <em>Web</em> dengan pendekatan <em>object oriented</em> yang sudah diuji oleh pakar dan semua fungsi berjalan dengan baik. Sistem ini memiliki fitur klasifikasi KMS yaitu <em>knowledge capture</em>, <em>knowledge sharing</em>, serta <em>knowledge discovery</em>.</p><p class="Abstrak"> </p><p class="Abstrak"><em><strong>Abstract</strong></em></p><p class="Abstract"><em>The increasing number of populations in Indonesia has an impact on the limited area in Bogor, which has resulted in the threat of agricultural production because of the conversion of 88.12% of paddy fields to housing and gardens. A solution to agricultural production systems with limited land, one of which is hydroponics. Facilitate access to digital learning facilities as an essential part of the plan of the Bogor City government, namely smart society, information technology support is needed as a means of sharing hydroponic cultivation knowledge. Based on this, we developed a knowledge management system (KMS) adopting the Knowledge Management Life Cycle method by identifying tacit and explicit knowledge from the hydroponic community. The process of capturing knowledge is oriented to the whole process of hydroponic vegetable cultivation by using seeds that are ready for planting. Knowledge map is used for codification of knowledge that produces 34 explicit knowledge in the form of interactive media in the form of videos and documents that can be used by user. The output generated from this study is KMS was implemented using Web-based applications with an object-oriented approach that has been tested by experts with system functions is working and has KMS classification features, namely knowledge capture, knowledge sharing, and knowledge discovery.<strong></strong></em></p><p class="Abstrak"><em><strong><br /></strong></em></p>

Through the study of knowledge management system, combining the current situation of the coal industry information, we have developed a set of Mine Safety Information Management System. The system is a platform that contains the internal knowledge and external knowledge of the coal enterprise management in the era of knowledge economy. The system not only establishes a knowledge map of coal mine safety field, but also includes valuable information collection, automatic classification, information retrieval and relevance association.

Information technology is increasingly developing and has a positive impact on the world of education. The implementation of student counseling with a Knowledge Management System is one of the contributions of information technology in the world of education. Many benefits provided by the Student Counseling Knowledge Management System, in managing the knowledge needed by the counselor section to document student consultations. The development and implementation of a KMS counseling system costs more to employ professional staff to maintain and improve; KMS student counseling application; For this reason, it is necessary to design a Cloud Computing-based Student Counseling Knowledge Management System. The research method carried out in the first stage is to collect data and information about Knowledge Management and Student Counseling, and how to use it to create a Knowledge Management System Application, Student Counseling Based on cloud computing. Furthermore, conducting a literature study and literature review, system design is in the form of data architecture compounding, process design, network design, and user interface design. The design results of this system can facilitate educational institutions in conducting online cloud computing-based student counseling

Tingkat EGDI (E-Government Development Index) di Indonesia mengalami penurunan peringkat sehingga dari hal tersebut mencerminkan kondisi perkembangan E-Government di Indonesia masih belum maksimal meliputi: tingkat layanan umum, terjadi ketidak seragaman layanan umum di desa, dukungan perangkat teknologi informasi masih terbatas, belum adanya pengelolaan arsip desa, belum adanya sistem yang bisa mengelola pengetahuan, belum adanya sinergi antar perangkat desa. Desa Dukuh Karya merupakan desa yang termasuk kedalam Kabupaten Karawang, Kecamatan Rengasdengklok. Desa Dukuh Karyamemiliki penduduk sekitar 6000 dan sebagian penduduknya memiliki penghasilan dari hasil pertanian. Perlunya pengelola pengetahuan yang ada di desa sehingga bisa dikelola dengan baik dan menerapkan Knowledge Management System (KMS) berbasis sistem informasi desa bisa meningkatkan layanan umum di desa Dukuh Karya. Dengan menerapkan konsep KMS untuk bisa menghimpun dan mengelola semua pengetahuan yang ada. Membangun Knowledge, menghimpun, menyimpan dan menggunakannya sehingga pemerintah desa lebih transparan dan akuntable sehingga meningkatkan layanan public. Implementasi KMS merupakan suatu cara bagi perangkat desa untuk mengidentifikasi,     membuat, merepresentasikan, mendistribusikan, dan memungkinkan pengadaptasian wawasan dan pengalaman yang terdiri dari pengetahuan, baik yang dimiliki oleh individu maupun pengetahuan yang melekat pada proses atau standar prosedur pelayanan yang mempunyai Tujuan utama untuk memelihara dan mentransfer dengan efektif pengetahuan yang penting untuk meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan perangkat pemerintah desa kepada warganya.

The purpose of this study is to examine how Knowledge level augmented parameters impact on the effective adoption of information and communication technology (ICT) by onion farmers in Perambalur district of Tamil Nadu. Data were gathered from a focus group made up of 60 Farmers in Perambalur district. The paper finds that a willingness of indigenous ICT users is particularly influenced by the recognition and incorporation of visible social imperatives during the adoption process. Research limitations/implications – The outcome of this study highlights important issues for ICT adoption. One particular area that must be taken into consideration is the adoption channel. Perceptions of ICT adoption will differ significantly among adopters. For this reason, the need for developing an appropriate adoption channel that ensures successful diffusion of the innovation should be recognized. The paper also demonstrates that Knowledge Management System among farmers using ICT to yield more profit in onion Production form knowledge distributed by the experts. Hence the research work carried out to acquire, represent, and distribute the knowledge Management system to the Farming community.

Cleanliness is one of many other indicator that have to be held by a tourism destination. It mean that the tourism destination should be clean from garbage or any other dirty things. Indonesia is a tourism destination that have been known as a beautiful and humble country to be visited. As a tourism country, Indonesia should also give a big concern to the cleanliness issue. Various criticisms and suggestions always delivered to the manager or government of the tourist sites, but the response from them was null. There have to be a research to find out what is the root of the environment cleanliness problem and which part of the improvement that was missed. This study covers how to integrate all the stakeholder by using Information Technology in order to address the environment cleanliness issue. Existing policy established will be the basis for analyzing, designing, implementing, and evaluating a product in addressing the issues of garbage. The research is developed under the PEST and SWOT method, and using the Knowledge Management System. Visual Communication Media is a product that was built to help people in controlling the outstanding garbage. Information technology is built to become a medium in managing information related to garbage problems. Meanwhile, Counseling and Socializing is held to provide learning of the importance in maintaining hygiene. The integration of these things is monitored and evaluated to obtain a comprehensive improvement. Index Terms—Cleanliness, Information Technology, Knowledge Management System.
