This article explores the influential factors of acceptance of information communication technologies in high educational institutes. using intentions of the mobile educational information system. Based on available adoption models and theories, a research model was proposed and the data from the 250 questionnaires of Chinese students from Chinese and overseas colleges was analyzed by a quantitative method (PLS-SEM method), indicating several factors influencing the use of mobile educational apps. This study was conducted to check the possible changes in these influential factors because some authors pointed out that there might be some possible differences in different countries, fields and types of IT. The results show that student status quo bias will reduce their motivation in using mobile educational apps; their perceived task-technology fit will positively influence their perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use; and students' perceived descriptive norms of using mobile apps will positively affect their adoption intentions. The study verifies the validity of technology acceptance model, the perceived task-technology fit in explaining technology using behavior. Additionally, the study examines the effect of status quo bias and the mechanism of how task-technology fitness, social norms and status quo bias influence adoption intentions. Finally, study inspires some new research points from the perspective of demographic variables. The study will also help educators and designers to understand the antecedents of acceptance of mobile educational system and promote the quality of education.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the adoption and use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) by school administrators in the management of schools, as well as factors that influence use of ICTs by the administrators. Design/methodology/approach Survey research design was adopted. A two-stage sampling procedure (random and purposive) was used to select the respondents, while quantitative and qualitative methods were used for data collection. Findings Findings reveal that the school administrators use various ICTs to carry out administrative and management duties. Task characteristics, task-technology fit, attitude and perceived ease of use have significant relationships with use of ICTs by the administrators. Research limitations/implications The findings and conclusion from this paper cannot be generalised to all schools in Nigeria because the population was limited to only private secondary schools. Practical implications The study contributes to an existing knowledge on adoption and use of ICTs in schools, and provides information to policymakers on factors that should be given consideration when there is a need to implement ICTs in schools. Social implications This paper could assist school administrators that are yet to adopt and implement ICTs in their schools of the need to do so in order to enjoy the benefits associated with ICTs use in the workplace. Originality/value This paper is one of the first pieces of empirical research that has adopted the integrated technology acceptance and task-technology fit models to investigate use of ICTs by administrators of schools in Nigeria.


The revolutionary developments in information and communication technologies have drastically changed the way we communicate in our personal as well as professional life. Traditionally email was considered as formal mean of communication in organisations but now a days its common to use social networking apps for official communication. WhatsApp in this regard have so much importance as it is being used in various industries because of its security, immediacy, and easy to use features. This paper studies the role of technology acceptance model (TAM) on adoption of WhatsApp for official communication and information sharing. The sample was collected from 328 respondents from 10 Malaysian universities using survey technique. The data was analysed using SMART-PLS. The findings of the research confirm that perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use are the key constructs for adoption of WhatsApp as channel for official communication. Furthermore, the limitations and future directions of the study are also recommended.

AbstractWith the popularization of mobile Internet and smart terminals, mobile reading with diversity and mobility has become a hot issue in the industry and academia. This article comes up with a hypothetical model of mobile reading user acceptance behavior based on the technology acceptance model and unified theory of acceptance and use of technology and conducts an analysis of the reliability and validity of questionnaire data. Based on this, the model fitness is analyzed as well as the path hypotheses testing. We find that user-perceived ease of use greatly influences perceived usefulness (path coefficient=0.841), and user attitude (path coefficient=0.860) and behavioral intention (path coefficient=0.154) are significantly impacted by perceived usefulness. The impact of social influence on user attitude toward using mobile reading is significant (path coefficient=0.341), but the influence of perceived payment is not obvious. The moderating effect of living habit is not obvious because the absolute value of the critical ratio is under 2.58 with a significance level of 0.01.

BACKGROUND: Knowledge is a source of competitive and strategic resource for many small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Securing knowledge assets through secured knowledge management systems (KMS) is a critical concern among SMEs. Due to the socio-technical nature of KMS, the security quality of KMS is an influential factor in KMS adoption by SMEs. OBJECTIVE: This study examines the effects of the security quality of KMS and the task-technology fit on KMS adoption among SMEs in Ghana. It further investigates whether or not the security quality of KMS affects the ease of use of KMS among SMEs. METHODS: Using a structured questionnaire, data were gathered from 281 IT professionals from 67 SMEs in Ghana. We used the technology acceptance model (TAM) to find out how security quality and task-technology fit (TTF) affect users’ acceptance of KMS. To facilitate the data collection process and to strictly focus on small and medium-sized enterprises, we excluded enterprises having 100 or more employees. The analyses used for this study focused on the key constructs and they included correlation, factor analysis, and multiple regression analysis. RESULTS: The study found that both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness influence users’ behavioral intention to accept KMS. Perceived ease of use has a positive relationship with perceived usefulness. Also, the security quality of KMS was found to affect both perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. However, the effect of the relationship between the security quality of KMS and perceived ease of use is higher when moderated by TTF. CONCLUSIONS: The security quality of KMS is fundamental to strengthening knowledge as a source of competitive advantage for most enterprises. It is important for managers to recognize security quality as an opportunity rather than a threat to advance and sustain their competitiveness as well as ensuring knowledge-sharing success.

This study proposes a comprehensive model that incorporates attitudinal variables in the technology acceptance model, motivational variables in the innovation diffusion theory, and the social variable in the theory of planned behavior to investigate the attitude, behavioral intentions, and usage of information and communication technologies (ICT) by employees in Hong Kong travel agencies. It complements trends in current research on technology adoption in the tourism industry. A survey was conducted with 190 employees from travel agencies, and structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data. Our results show that the integrated model of ICT adoption is adequate to predict employees’ adoption behavior. Furthermore, the perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, trialability, and observability of new ICT are the major factors stimulating employees’ attitude toward it. Based on our findings, both theoretical and practical suggestions for stimulating employees’ adoption of ICT are proposed.

Around the world, the adoption of digital health applications is growing very fast. The use of e-health laboratory systems is increasing while research on the factors that impact users to use e-health laboratory systems in Indonesia has not been done much. The objective of this study is to analyze the behavioral factors of e-health laboratory users. This study includes a survey conducted on Indonesian users, and data analysis was carried out thoroughly. Based on the Technology Acceptance Model, this research framework explores a combination of variables consisting of task-driven, technology-driven, human-driven, and adoption variables to form the model proposed in this study. This model was verified using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method for factor analysis, path analysis, and regression. A total of 163 respondents were collected to evaluate this research model empirically and the level of this study were individuals. These three problems are all essential in affecting usage intentions in adopting an e-health laboratory system. Specifically, task technology fit, information quality, and accessibility show a direct effect on both perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use factors perceived by the user, and have an indirect influence on the adoption of an e-health laboratory system through these two factors. The design of an online laboratory system affects perceived ease of use and personal innovativeness factors affect the perceived usefulness that users feel when adopting a laboratory system, while task technology fit and personal innovativeness factors do not affect the perceived ease of use. However, overall technology characteristic and perceived usefulness followed by design are the main predictors of adopting an e-health laboratory system on e-health systems in Indonesia.

Much of research has applied the Task-Technology Fit (TTF) model and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to organizational information systems (OIS) for work-related activities. The Web essentially is a large information system (IS) and is often used for non-work activities. Yet, few studies have related the TTF model and the TAM to the use of Web-based information systems for non-work activities. This paper synthesizes TTF and TAM models and tests whether they are applicable to the Web. The results show that the TAM applies very well to predict the Web user's performance, but the TTF model just produces a weak relationship. The study suggests that the performance of the Web users can be improved through (1) improving the perceived usefulness, (2) improving the perceived ease of use, and (3) having a more aligned task-technology fit.

The increasing popularity of self-service analytics (SSA) is empowering business users to analyze data and generate actionable insights autonomously. While there are many benefits to SSA tools, there is a scarcity of research on the factors influencing their adoption in business organizations. This article presents an extended technology acceptance model (TAM) that incorporates the task-technology fit (TTF), compatibility, and user empowerment as critical antecedents of users' intention to adopt SSA tools for reporting and analytics tasks. To test the proposed model, data were collected through a questionnaire survey of 211 business users working in different industries in Jordan. The collected data were analysed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The results of this study demonstrate that the task-technology fit, compatibility, and user empowerment are significant predictors of users' perceptions of usefulness and ease of use of SSA tools. Both of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use have a positive effect on users' intention to adopt SSA tools. Collectively, all these factors account for 51.6 percent of the variance in the behavioral intention. The findings of this study provide several key implications for research and practice, and thus should contribute to the design and adoption of more user-accepted SSA tools and applications.

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) acceptance research within the field of Information Systems has been limited in its application to higher education. There is a current need to examine utilization of e-learning to improve the success of information system implementation across the higher education sector. This research describes and explains an experience of a teaching centered on the Web, undertaken in Tunisian universities. E-learning is related to three courses for which a platform Web was developed to make it possible for the learners to download the supports of the course, to put their questions to the teachers, etc. First, this work describes the theoretical basis behind the concept of e-learning and the development of a research model; second, it tests the influence of platform characteristics and e-learning usage on learners’ satisfaction. Experimentation was conducted on 241 students and found that perceived ease of use is the most determining factor that influences simultaneously the usage and the satisfaction. The authors also noted that the perceived usefulness of the platform and its perceived compatibility with the needs and the values of learners are important for the active usage of the platform. The results of this study have theoretical and practical applications in the field of e-learning.

Advances in grid technology in the past two decades have enabled some organizations to harness enormous computational power on demand. However, the prediction of widespread adoption of grid technology has not materialized, while cloud technology is increasingly gaining acceptance. Using the online survey engine - Survey Monkey, data were collected from individuals (242 respondents) in schools, businesses and government in USA to determine the influential factors in the adoption process of grid and cloud technology. The multiple regression technique was used to determine the relationship between the intent to adopt grids and the behavioral factors: perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude (competition from alternative technology- clouds) and trust (security). The research established a valuable model to predict acceptance or rejection of grids or clouds. Implications for professionals in business, information technology, and computer science are discussed.
