This study aimed at investigating the influence of students' characteristics (majors, maturity, and gender) on mobile device security practices in the context of a developing country. Focusing on graduate and undergraduate students from both public and private universities, participants' characteristics were measured against three approaches of mobile devices security practices (user-behavior and activities, device settings, and disaster recovery). The sample consisted of 375 students from two public universities and three private university colleges. The results found that Technology and Engineering students differ statistically from Business and Arts students in terms of mobile device settings and disaster recovery practices. The undergraduate students were less engaged in risky activities with their devices compared with the graduate students. Moreover, the younger students were more cautious than the older students regarding user-behavior and device settings. Finally, female students were more negligent when it comes to setting the devices to militate against security threats.

Abstract The paper addresses the women’s movement in the Northern Syrian region known by Kurds as Rojava, a movement whose central role in building an autonomous political project has its roots in the Kurdish nationalist struggle, specifically that organised by the Kurdish Worker’s Party, also known as the PKK, in Turkey. This study brings to the fore reflections on the power relations that cross the struggle carried out by these women, who, for their part, are crossed by the intersection of gender, ethnicity and class, which feeds and composes the critical praxis of this organised struggle. The Kurdish women’s political path is approached through the contradictions and ambiguities they encounter when they face the challenge of becoming aware of their own place in a political project, which at first had a nationalist character and is now beginning to gain new contours. The presence of the female figure in a political context of armed conflict endows these women with the role of challenging the boundaries on which the foundational elements of international politics rely, namely, the boundary between public and private spheres and gender roles played socially and politically. The Kurdish women’s movement in Rojava disturbs the foundational boundaries of the modern nation-state alongside the hegemonic constructions of masculinity and femininity, and the militarised character of politics, which are constitutive of the modern imaginary of political community.

Advent of technology has caused growing interest in using computers to convert conventional paper and pencil-based testing (Henceforth PPT) into Computer-based testing (Henceforth CBT) in the field of education during last decades. This constant promulgation of computers to reshape the conventional tests into computerized format permeated the language assessment field in recent years. But, enjoying advantages of computers in language assessment raise the concerns of the effects that computerized mode of testing may have on CBT performance. Thus, this study investigated the score comparability of Vocabulary in Use test taken by 30 Iranian undergraduate students studying at a state university located in Chabahar region of Iran (CMU) to see whether scores from two administrations of testing mode were different. Therefore, two similar tests were administered to the male and female participants on two testing mode occasions with four weeks interval. Employing One-Way ANOVA statistical test to compare the mean scores and Pearson Correlation test to find the relationship between mode preference and performance revealed that two sets of scores were not different and gender difference was not also considered a variable that might affect performance on CBT. Based on the results, computerized version of the test can be considered a favorable alternative for the state undergraduate students in Iran.

FOR PRIMARY CAREABSTRACTThe present study had as objective to analyze the preparation for action in Primary Care (PC) by undergraduate students of the last year and professors of the physiotherapy course of Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) of public and private sectors of a medium-sized city of Minas Gerais. Cross-sectional research was carried out through individual interviews with 64 undergraduates and 28 teachers who answered a semi-structured questionnaire with aspects about the physiotherapist’s performance for PC. The results showed that undergraduates believe that the disciplines studied related to PC were sufficient to act at this level of attention, unlike the teachers, who believe that their students they are not able to intervene. The opinion of graduates judging the appropriate internship time in PC was very close to those who did not. Regarding extraclass activities related to PC, these are still scarce. Teachers are able to make associations between the disciplines that they minister with PC and during their formation had related disciplines, but these did not provide bases for the practice. It is hoped that the findings contribute to the direction of actions in the academic field, aiming at proposing changes in the curricula of the courses, expanding knowledge about this level of attention and assisting in the formation of a professional in harmony with the principles of the Single System of Health (SSH) and PC, breaking with the strictly rehabilitatingcharacter of the profession.KEYWORDS: Physical therapists.
