This paper introduces the basic theory of thermal analysis and the use of SolidWorks Simulation and ANSYS Workbench to complete the steady-state thermal analysis about related models, thus getting steady temperature distribution of the model. By comparing the differences between SolidWorks Simulation and ANSYS Workbench, we can finally work out the optimal method for product design and simulation .

Kata kunci: Kesan termo–optik, analisis terma, kaedah pembezaan terhingga A thermal analysis in optical waveguides structure is simulated in order to predict the temperature distribution over the waveguide cross–section, when heated by a heating element. A steady state heat equation is solved by using finite difference numerical method. It is observed that by applying different value of thermal conductivities for each waveguide element and further application of convection mechanism to the ambient, obvious differences with other researchers’ work are recorded. Key words: Thermo–optic effect, thermal analysis, finite difference method

Heat can be used as an adjuvant treatment of many diseases and also as a powerful tool to help diagnose cancers, with the advantage to be a noninvasive exam. Some tumors may be best diagnosed by evaluating body temperature distribution, for instance, it is observed that local temperatures of the skin over a tumor are higher than the average skin temperature. Certainly, it is expected from medical diagnostics to be, early, fast and very precise. Especially if the health problem is a tumor, it is necessary to know the shape and the size of the cancer. Thermal images can provide further information about the tumor, generally, the thermal diagnostic is made comparing images of the region with a bioheat model. In this context, the present study shows interesting results about the multigrid method applied to solve the Pennes bioheat equation in two dimensions, using a non-stationary and steady state cases for the skin heath and with melanoma. The multigrid method presented itself as an extremely efficient and fast tool to solve the bioheat equation with refined grids that provide good spatial precision.

The problem of the longitudinal temperature distribution was solved and the bearing of the temperature profiles on the qualitative characteristics of the zones and on the interpretation of the record of the separation obtained from a universal detector was considered. Two approximative physical models were applied to the solution: in the first model, the temperature dependences of the mobilities are taken into account, the continuous character of the electric field intensity at the boundary being neglected; in the other model, the continuous character of the electric field intensity is allowed for. From a comparison of the two models it follows that in practice, the variations of the mobilities with the temperature are the principal factor affecting the shape of the temperature profiles, the assumption of a discontinuous jump of the electric field intensity at the boundary being a good approximation to the reality. It was deduced theoretically and verified experimentally that the longitudinal profiles can appreciably affect the longitudinal variation of the effective mobilities in the zone, with an infavourable influence upon the qualitative interpretation of the record. Pronounced effects can appear during the analyses of the minor components, where in the corresponding short zone a temperature distribution occurs due to the influence of the temperatures of the neighbouring zones such that the temperature in the zone of interest in fact does not attain a constant value in axial direction. The minor component does not possess the steady-state mobility throughout the zone, which makes the identification of the zone rather difficult.

Numerical simulation of automotive tires is still a challenging problem due to their complex geometry and structures, as well as the non-uniform loading and operating conditions. Hysteretic loss and rolling resistance are the most crucial features of tire design for engineers. A decoupled numerical model was proposed to predict hysteretic loss and temperature distribution in a tire, however temperature dependent material properties being utilized only during the heat generation analysis stage. Cyclic change of strain energy values was extracted from 3-D deformation analysis, which was further used in a thermal analysis as input to predict temperature distribution and thermal heat generation due to hysteretic loss. This method was compared with the decoupled model where temperature dependence was ignored in both deformation and thermal analysis stages. Deformation analysis results were compared with experimental data available. The proposed method of numerical modeling was quite accurate and results were found to be close to the actual tire behavior. It was shown that one-way-coupled method provides rolling resistance and peak temperature values that are in agreement with experimental values as well.

Thermal analysis and thermal management of lithium-ion batteries for utilization in electric vehicles is vital. In order to investigate the thermal behavior of a lithium-ion battery, a liquid cooling design is demonstrated in this research. The influence of cooling direction and conduit distribution on the thermal performance of the lithium-ion battery is analyzed. The outcomes exhibit that the appropriate flow rate for heat dissipation is dependent on different configurations for cold plate. The acceptable heat dissipation condition could be acquired by adding more cooling conduits. Moreover, it was distinguished that satisfactory cooling direction could efficiently enhance the homogeneity of temperature distribution of the lithium-ion battery.

In this paper, a comparative thermal analysis is carried out according to the bottom of HR-FD51 electric cooker liner about a large or small fillet. And then the thermal analysis results are applied to stress analysis as the body loads. The results show that it can reduce thermal stress and total deformation with a large fillet, thereby, improves the lifespan of electric cooker liner and thermal effects as well.
