Abstract Through diagnosing plasma density and calculating the intensity of microwave electric field, four 10cm electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) ion sources with different magnetic field structures are studied to reveal the inside interaction between plasma, magnetic field and microwave electric field. From the diagnosing result it can be found that the plasma density distribution is controlled by the plasma generation and electron loss volumes associated with magnetic field and microwave power level. Based on the cold plasma hypothesis and diagnosing result, the microwave electric field intensity distribution in the plasma is calculated. The result shows that the plasma will significantly change the distribution of microwave electric field intensity to form a bow shape. From the boundary region of the shape to the center, the electric field intensity varies from higher to lower and the diagnosed density inversely changes. If the bow and its inside lower electric field intensity region is close to the screen grid, the performance of ion beam extracting will be better. The study can provide useful information for the creating of 10cm ECR ion source and understanding its mechanism.

Abstract In this work, we consider the motion of a polaron in a polynucleotide Holstein molecular chain in a constant electric field. It is shown that the character of the polaron motion in the chain depends not only on the chosen parameters of the chain, but also on the initial distribution of the charge along the chain. It is shown that for a small set value of the electric field intensity and for fixed values of the chain parameters, changing only the initial distribution of the charge in the chain, it is possible to observe either a uniform movement of the charge along the chain, or an oscillatory mode of charge movement.

The article presents a technique of differential ion mobility spectrometry (DMS) applicable to the detection and identification of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from such categories as n-alkanes, alcohols, acetate esters, ketones, botulinum toxin, BTX, and fluoro- and chloro-organic compounds. A possibility of mixture identification using only the DMS spectrometer is analyzed, and several examples are published for the first time. An analysis of different compounds and their mechanisms of fragmentation, influence on effective ion temperature, and high electric field intensity is discussed.

The paper considers the degree of fractal structure impact on the electric field intensity inside thunderstorm clouds using the apparatus of fractional integrodifferentiation. We propose a mathematical model of intensity dynamics of a static electric field in the thunderstorm clouds, taking into account media with fractal dimension. The results obtained confirm the close connection of electrophysical processes in thunderclouds with the fractal medium itself. In this paper, a novel embedded reflective grating (ERG) is presented to realize bi-function polarization operating at infrared band by finite element analysis (FEM). For transverse electric (TE) polarization, a two-port output (0th and −2nd orders) with an efficiency of more than 47% and excellent uniformity can be obtained. For transverse magnetic (TM) polarization, a high efficiency output of 94.72% can be achieved at the −2th order. The results of the analysis of the electric field intensity distribution, angular and wavelength bandwidths further demonstrate the advantages of the proposed grating. In addition, the tolerance analysis of period and duty cycle prove the feasibility of the grating in practical production.

Aiming at the problem that the measured accuracy of the electric field intensity which is affected by the coupling interference by sensor output signal from the component of a three dimensional electric field, the causes of the coupling error was analyzed, and a decoupled calibration method based on support vector regression algorithm for three-dimensional electric field sensor is proposed. The solution of the decoupled calibration matrix was regarded as a multi-objective optimization process, and the optimal decoupling calibration matrix was obtained by the ν-SVR algorithm. The complex inverse calculation of the matrix was avoided, and the calculation error was reduced. A rotary calibration device was designed to accurately measure the angle between the induction electrode of the sensor and the electric-field vector, and an accurate calculation model of the theoretical electric field was established. The experimental results showed that the error between the calculated and theoretical values of the electric-field components obtained by the proposed method were smaller than those obtained by the traditional inverse matrix calibration method, the accuracy of the calibration was improved, the rationality of the calibration method was proven, and the accuracy of the three-dimensional electric-field intensity measurements was further improved.

Abstract As for micro-particles (microspheres or microcylinders) that form Photonic nanojet (PNJ) in near fied,a curved truncated dielectric microcylinder structure (CSTDM) is investigated by finite element method(FEM) which can form ultralong PNJ with the longest effective length:209.49λ. We found that changing parameter h of structure can realize long dynamic range tuning of the effective length of PNJ. The effective length varies quasi-periodically with h; the law of the variation of main indicators of microcylinder are further discussed, such as the effective length, the working distance, peak electric field intensity and full width half height

Various regimes of a charge motion along a chain in a constant electric field are investigated. This motion is simulated on the basis of the Holstein model. Earlier studies demonstrate a possibility of a uniform motion of a charge in a constant electric field over very long distances. For small values of the electric field intensity a Holstein polaron can move at a constant velocity. As the electric field intensity increases, a charge motion acquires oscillatorily character, performing Bloch oscillations. Since the charge motion depends on the whole set of the system parameters the character of the motion depends not only on the value of the electric field intensity. Therefore, the electric field intensity for which the uniform motion takes place differs for chains with different parameters. The character of the charge motion and distribution is considered in chains with different values of the constant of coupling between the charge and the displacements of the chain. We showed that the values of the electric field intensity for which the regime of a charge motion changes are different in chains with different values of the coupling constant. We also demonstrated that for one and the same value of the electric field intensity, in chains with different values of the coupling constant either a uniform motion or an oscillatory motion, or a stationary polaron can be observed.

Abstract The radial transit time oscillator (RTTO) has attracted much attention because of its high power capacity and pure mode of output microwave. To make the high power microwave (HPM) source devices more compact and to enable it to measure the output microwave mode quantitatively, this paper proposed a compact Ku-band RTTO with the power divider extraction structure (PDES). The radial decreasing magnetic field is applied to decreasing the mass of excitation system. Compared the conventional uniform solenoids, it can reduce the mass by about 30%. In the coaxial output waveguide, the PDES is used instead of the traditional support rods connecting the inner and outer conductors so as to convert TEM mode into TE10 mode efficiently. This structure can not only help shorten the axial dimension of the device, but also make it possible to measure the output microwave mode more accurately online. In particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation, the proposed Ku-band RTTO can output HPMs with the power of 3.05 GW and the frequency of 14.36 GHz, and the working efficiency is 40.3%. The maximum radial electric field intensity in the extraction cavity is 0.92 MV/cm, and the maximum electric field intensity in the PDES is 0.52 MV/cm, both of which are lower than the radio frequency (RF) breakdown threshold of metal materials.
