The change of ambient temperature will cause deformation during the machining process of large-scale aerospace monolithic component. Based on finite element simulation, thermally induced deformation of reinforcing plate is studied in such aspects as reinforcement structure, clamping method and temperature change, and contact function in finite element software is used to simulate the unilateral constraint between workpiece and worktable. The results indicate that reinforcing plate will produce warping deformation due to the change of ambient temperature. Different reinforcement structures and clamping methods have important influence on the deformation positions and degrees, and the deformation is proportional to the temperature change.

We expound the finite element simulation and the key points of metal turning by the material properties of the stem in this paper, and select the proper material constitutive equation, then use the adaptive meshing technique, and then finite element modeling was carried out on the valve stem in the professional finite element software Advantedge FEM. The optimization scheme we designed of finite element simulation for the valve stem through the finite element software Advantedge FEM, and we research the influence of the amount of feed and speed cutting process about the cutting force and the cutting temperature.

There are lots of titanium alloy parts which have large-scale micro-structures in astronautic structure and medical implants, so the micro milling becomes one of the effective processing methods in getting the surface micro-structure. Because the titanium alloy has high caking property in processing, it needs a research on the cutting heat and force in order to get better machining precision and surface quality. According to the finite element theory in elastic and plasticity, the influence of cutting speed to the cutting heat and force is got by finite element simulation analysis to the titanium material TC4 in cutting process. It can get the simulation results of cutting heat and force in the micro milling processing by finite element analysis, and then compared, the basic influence which the cutting speed to the cutting heat and force is got. The correctness of the result is checked through cutting experiments.

The evolution of crack models based on fracture mechanics is reviewed. The brittle cracking model in Abaqucs is used to simulate the machining process of Al2O3. The result shows that it’s appropriate to simulate the machining process of ceramics with fracture energy cracking criterion and post-failure constitutive relation in a smeared cracking representation. Although more works are needed in the future to resolve the mesh sensitivity. The material removal mechanism of ceramics is confirmed to be the brittle fracture regime.

Based on metal cutting theory and the key technology of finite element simulation, this paper uses finite element software Deform to establish three-dimensional finite element simulation model and simulate cutting process. This paper uses the work piece material is IN718 high temperature alloys packaged in Deform, and analyzes the processing characteristics of high temperature, choosing the right tools and cutting dosages to simulate. Through the simulation we can get scraps forming process, the surface stress, strain, temperature and cutting force distribution of the workpiece and the tool. We can also get the change rule of cutting force and cutting temperature under the different cutting parameters. The simulation results provide the theoretical basis for the optimization of cutting parameter selection in production practice.

This paper provides a comprehensive assessment on some commonly used thermo-viscoplastic constitutive models of metallic materials during severe plastic deformation at high-strain rates. An hcp model previously established by us was improved in this paper to enhance its predictability by incorporating the key saturation characteristic of strain hardening. A compensation-based stress-updating algorithm was also developed to introduce the new hcp model into a finite element program. The improved model with the developed algorithm was then applied in finite element simulation to investigate the high-speed machining of Ti6Al4V. It was found that by using different material models, the simulated results of cutting forces, serrated chip morphologies, and residual stresses can be different too and that the improved model proposed in this paper can be applied to simulate the titanium alloy machining process more reliably due to its physical basis when compared with some other empirical Johnson–Cook models.

A two-dimensional finite element simulation model of longitudinal welded pipe is established by the nonlinear finite element software ABAQUS. Testing enlargement mould is used for the expanding experiments for the welded pipe under the laboratory condition. The expanding force, ovality and the shape are simulated and measured. Comparing the experimental and the simulated results, the values are fitted well.
