To improve the speed and accuracy of visual detection system, image processing software has been developed. However, it found two problems in the development of the system. The one is OpenCV library function can't directly obtain video data flow from the USB industrial cameras with non-V4L interface on the Linux platform. The other one is the IplImage structure images can't immediately be showed in Qt control. Based on these problems, this paper proposes a new solution, the shared-streams method, and offers the program codes to implement this method. Finally, after experiment and contrast, the results indicate that shared-streams approach has a certain feasibility and superiority.

t is need to experiment to verify the correctness and validity of various stages in system design after gauge visual detection system designing between high signals and contact net. Then it does error analysis from lighting conditions, camera resolution, binocular imaging system installation structure, camera out of synchronized, noise and subsequent image processing operations, etc. It analysis the systematic errors principle and specific impact, then identifies specific improvements.

Abstract The O.9.27 manuscript of Trinity College Cambridge is a minuscule manuscript of Hesiod’s Opera et Dies. In a 2001 PhD thesis on Greek palimpsests in Cambridge by Natalie Tchernetska, this manuscript is described to contain two distinct lower scripts, one of which identified as a New Testament text. The author read four lines and a partial fifth of the one-leaf palimpsest that contain Mark 1:44, which is remarkable considering that the washing made the lower script virtually the same colour as the page. This note re-examines the Markan lower script in O.9.27 and offers an account of the use of image processing software for the purpose to uncover more text in a difficult palimpsest, a method useful when MSI is not available.

Massive military manpower is deployed on borders to keep a vigilant eye on possible infiltration from neighboring countries. This traditional approach is prone to errors because of human factors. To make border surveillance more effective, countries have installed CCTV cameras on borders but generally such systems are passive in nature and require human operators to keep an eye on the captured video footage. This chapter describes a cloud based approach for infiltration detection in border defense environments. The processing of video data, in cloud, and the real-time response are the factors that make system suitable for military purposes. As far as affordability is concerned, the governments can easily bear expense of establishing a private cloud for implementing visual surveillance. This chapter represents pertinent research of authors in the field of visual surveillance as well as other state-of-the-art breakthroughs in this area. The chapter is of multi-disciplinary significance in the field of cloud computing, video & image processing, behavioral sciences, and defense studies.

One of the parameters of exhaust emission testing on diesel engines is the level of smoke opacity. If the opacity is high then the emission quality is bad. The instrument for measuring smoke opacity is called Smoke Opacity Meter. The commonly used basic concept to measure smoke density is by utilizing a light sensor (optical sensor). Development of Smoke Opacity Meter applies the concept of Digital Image Processing. Even though it has initially begun, the measurement result is yet as perfect as Optical Sensor Concept. Therefore, this paper describes on how to implement the Digital Image Processing Method in processing the smoke opacity video data.

The error of the steel tape itself is an important factor to affect the measured length. According to the identification system of the improved identification procedures of steel tape, the industrial cameras are adopted to take photos for the steel tape and the standard steel tape which will be measured. At the same time, the LabVIEW image processing software is employed to process the photographs. Through comparing the errors of each point in the steel tape calculated by the image recognition, the identification results are finally obtained. The experimental results show that the proposed method is effective.

For measuring fiber content of GMT Sheet, moldings should be divided into specimens. And then by burning this specimen, we can get remaining glass fiber ratio. This remaining glass fiber ratio is regarded as fiber content and this process is called 'burning method'. This method yields high value but it can destroy the molding. So any standard method in fiber content measurements isn't established yet. An experimental method is proposed which can be used to measure the fiber content of compression molded glass mat reinforced thermoplastic sheet by image processing. Therefore to predict the fiber content may be useful for determination of optimum molding conditions, charge pattern etc. so far, the burning method has been used for measuring fiber content of glass fiber-reinforced thermoplastic sheet. Then the burning method is precise but breaks the material sheet. In this study, the soft X-pray photograph intensity of the sheet is measured using the image scanner, and the intensity information is worked out by personal computer. We suggested image processing method which can be used to nondestructively measure GMT-Sheet's fiber content. And fiber content measured by image processing method agree well with the one by the burning method. If GMT-Sheet is thick and fiber content is high, fibers overlapped, then photographing soft x-ray is impossible, so the measurements of exact fiber content is difficult.

Stitch per inch is defined as the one of many quality parameters which evaluated in the garment industry. The strength of the stitch will be determined by stitch per inch, both on the clothes and fabrics. Conventionally, stitch per inch determined by using a traditionaly visual method. Many researchers have been developed the image processing technology which applied into various textile fields. In this reserach, it has been developed a new method and a new software which could determine stitch per inch on fabrics using the image processing techniques. Stitch per inch measurement has been done using the box counting method (pixel) on image processing software. Stitch per inch in several fabrics (with different color and structures) has been measured, which shows that the value of the each methods are equal
