The rapid development and expansion speed in the renewal of the China’s industrial cities are not suited to the current situations of large energy consumption of the existing buildings, these current situations causes the urban environment and resources to be destroyed and the sustainable development of cities to be severely hampered. To solve these problems, a variety of resources for urban renewal in the energy conservation reconstruction of the existing building should be deeply developed, such as analysis and research of reconstruction background, local natural environment and natural resources, utilization of waste and recyclable resources etc., at the same time, perfection of the existing building energy saving assessment system is also the key to promote the settlement of the problems. This paper demonstrates the energy conservation reconstruction and comprehensive utilization of the existing buildings in the industrial urban renewal in various aspects in order to promote the sustainable development objectives of the industrial urban renewal.

At present, China is in a period of rapid development of urbanization. However, the current focus of architectural design is mainly in the city, which makes rural residential development has lagged far behind in the town. In fact, in the country's vast rural areas still exists many problems, and the problems of energy-saving are still in the initial stage. Meanwhile, the future development of the rural areas will affect China's overall level of development directly, therefore, promoting and developing green building in rural areas, will be conducive to the sustainable development of our country. The thesis combines the practical problems of the rural areas, discussed the content of the rural residential energy conservation design in detail from the perspective of sustainable development, from the planning and layout, building materials, energy utilization and other aspects, in order to provide a reference for the development of rural residential energy conservation.

Purpose The decisions taken today relating to urban renewal interventions are rarely supported by logical and operational methodologies capable of effectively rationalising selection processes. For this purpose, it is necessary to propose and implement analysis models with the aim of promoting the sustainable development of the territory. The purpose of this paper is to define a model for the optimal allocation of scarce resources. Design/methodology/approach The Discrete Linear Programming (DLP) is used for selecting investments aimed at achieving financial, social, cultural and environmental sustainability. Findings The proposed model lends itself to the construction of investment plans on behalf of both types of decision makers, of both a public and a private nature. Research limitations/implications All projects are evaluated according to multi-criteria logics, so that it is possible to find compromise solutions, in accordance with the stakeholders’ different preferences. Practical implications The model, written with A Mathematical Programming Language using DLP logics, is tested – case study – so as to define an investment programme finalised for urban renewal of a vast area. Social implications The proposed econometric model makes it possible to obtain the optimal combination of projects for urban renewal with a view to achieving the sustainable development of the territory. Originality/value Using the proposed model, all projects are evaluated according to multi-criteria logics, so that it is possible to find compromise solutions, in accordance with the stakeholders’ different preferences.

In order to successfully achieve sustainable development objectives, modern enterprises have to establish a framework and implement appropriate managerial tools for the effective integration of sustainability into business operations. The paper aims to clarify the concept of sustainable development in the mine management context, highlight the main principles of sustainable mining and devise appropriate tools and mechanisms from a managerial viewpoint to implement the strategic sustainability priorities into business practice. Based on a literature review of research on sustainable mine management issues, the main dimensions of the sustainability concept are highlighted and the specific goals corresponding to each of the priority focus areas are identified in the paper. As a result of the study, the key organizational aspects and firm-level mechanisms that should be primarily taken into account from a management decision-making viewpoint to embed the strategic sustainability principles into business practices and corporate activities of mining operators are pointed out. From a practical perspective, the findings can be used by mining operators for defining strategic sustainability priorities and setting related corporate objectives, as well as devising guidelines for the effective implementation of the integrated sustainable mine management system.

This paper aims to identify the current level of implementation of the principles of sustainable development among hotels in the mountain area of Romania, how these standards influence the occupancy rate with the help of communication strategies, and to what extent the implementation of international management standards leads to an increase in the profitability rate. The research was carried out on the basis of questionnaires addressed to the hotels in the mountain areas of Romania, with information being collected from a number of 77 hotels, rated between 2 and 5 stars. The results obtained from the research highlighted the existence of positive correlations, both between the use of a communication strategy on the sustainable development objectives and the occupancy rate, as well as between the implementation of international management standards and the increase of the profitability rate.

At present, in terms of the architectural heritage protection, the rapid development of Chinese economics and the accelerating urbanization process have caused a great deal of "constructive destructions" to the architectural heritage and have accelerated its demise. In order to change the situation and to deepen the people's understanding to the value of the architectural heritage, the paper will make further analysis and research on the culture value and economics value from the view of cultural economics and then give the architectural heritage the third-largest value -- social value. The ultimate goal is to establish the architectural heritage value system so as to promote the protection and the sustainable development of the architectural heritage.
