AbstractRNA sequencing offers unprecedented access to the transcriptome. Key to this is the identification and quantification of many different species of RNA from the same sample at the same time. In this study we describe a novel protocol for simultaneous detection of coding and non-coding transcripts using modifications to the Ion Total RNA-Seq kit v2 protocol, with integration of QIASeq FastSelect rRNA removal kit. We report highly consistent sequencing libraries can be produced from both frozen high integrity mouse hippocampal tissue and the more challenging post-mortem human tissue. Removal of rRNA using FastSelect was extremely efficient, resulting in less than 1.5% rRNA content in the final library. We identified > 30,000 unique transcripts from all samples, including protein-coding genes and many species of non-coding RNA, in biologically-relevant proportions. Furthermore, the normalized sequencing read count for select genes significantly negatively correlated with Ct values from qRT-PCR analysis from the same samples. These results indicate that this protocol accurately and consistently identifies and quantifies a wide variety of transcripts simultaneously. The highly efficient rRNA depletion, coupled with minimized sample handling and without complicated and high-loss size selection protocols, makes this protocol useful to researchers wishing to investigate whole transcriptomes.

In this paper we propose a new family of algorithms, ATENT, for training adversarially robust deep neural networks. We formulate a new loss function that is equipped with an additional entropic regularization. Our loss function considers the contribution of adversarial samples that are drawn from a specially designed distribution in the data space that assigns high probability to points with high loss and in the immediate neighborhood of training samples. Our proposed algorithms optimize this loss to seek adversarially robust valleys of the loss landscape. Our approach achieves competitive (or better) performance in terms of robust classification accuracy as compared to several state-of-the-art robust learning approaches on benchmark datasets such as MNIST and CIFAR-10.

In recent years in the virtual reality the developers succeeded in creating an artificial environment that simulates reality so that the user has the impression of an almost real physical presence in the virtual world. By overlapping and synchronizing the projected images with spatial sounds and even forces that interact with the user, there is a detachment of the user from the real environment and an all-encompassing involvement in the virtual world. The virtual reality is present in aviation, medicine, military training and other top fields. The advantages of using the virtual environment are obvious for areas where inexperience can cause very high loss of life and material loss. Although the participants are immersed in the scenario of the virtual environment, the errors produced allow an evaluation of the mistakes made and their correction, the experience gained being then used in professional activity in the real world. Through the experience of the virtual environment, the fear of various dangers can be overcome, so that the objectives of the exercise can be fulfilled. The aim of the paper is to offer to the rescuers opportunities to interact with the elements of the virtual space to fulfill the purpose of the exercise.

This article addresses the importance of parking system which makes the movement of moving vehicles to be unrestricted thus providing integration between hominid classification and sensing systems. If two distinct systems are combined, then all the vehicles can monitor the parking space, and they can directly move towards the destination end within short span of time. In addition for this type of establishment, rapidity of transportation vehicles is calculated with error minimization technique where all technical hitches will be avoided by sustaining the user constraints. Further, to solve the designed user constraints, a nonlinear optimization which is termed as machine learning algorithm is introduced for avoiding high loss during packet transmission technique, and percentage of efficiency is analyzed using simulated results with network simulator (NS2). Moreover, from simulated results, it is substantiated that the projected method on automatic parking of vehicles provides high efficient operation, and even cost of installation is reduced.

AbstractVarroa destructor is considered a major reason for high loss rate of Western honey bee (Apis mellifera) colonies. To prevent colony losses caused by V. destructor, it is necessary to actively manage the mite population. Beekeepers, particularly commercial beekeepers, have few alternative treatments other than synthetic acaricides to control the parasite, resulting in intensive treatment regimens that led to the evolution of resistance in mite populations. To investigate the mechanism of the resistance to amitraz detected in V. destructor mites from French and U.S. apiaries, we identified and characterized octopamine and tyramine receptors (the known targets of amitraz) in this species. The comparison of sequences obtained from mites collected from different apiaries with different treatment regimens, showed that the amino acid substitutions N87S or Y215H in the OctβR were associated with treatment failures reported in French or U.S. apiaries, respectively. Based on our findings, we have developed and tested two high throughput diagnostic assays based on TaqMan technology able to accurately detect mites carrying the mutations in this receptor. This valuable information may be of help for beekeepers when selecting the most suitable acaricide to manage V. destructor.

Mariculture is a well-known high-risk industry. However, mariculture insurance, which is an important risk management tool, is facing serious market failure. An important reason for this market failure lies in the unsound premium rate and pricing method. Due to a lack of long-term yield data, empirical rates are often adopted, but this adoption can lead to a high loss ratio. This paper provides an improved method for premium computation of mariculture insurance using an information diffusion model (IDM). An example of oyster insurance in China shows that, compared with the traditional pricing approach, the IDM can greatly improve the accuracy and stability of premium rate calculations, especially in cases of small samples.

The thickness and dielectric properties (dielectric constant and loss tangent) of fabric substrate play a key role in the design and properties of wearable antennas. Related research shows that a thicker substrate with a low dielectric constant and high loss tangent can enhance the bandwidth of antennas. Here, sewing multiple fabrics together was a good way to increase the thickness while maintaining flexibility, but it is hard to control the dielectric properties because of the lack of the relationship between the dielectric properties and that of the components. Although previous works have established the equivalent capacitance model of sewed multilayer fabric, they cannot obtain its dielectric properties completely. In this work, based on the circuit model proposed by Chin and Lee, the equivalent capacitance and resistance models of sewed multilayer fabric were established to predict its loss tangent. The sewed multilayer fabrics were fabricated and measured by split post dielectric resonator at 1.11 GHz to validate the model. From the comparison of the predicted and measured loss tangents of sewed multilayer fabrics, it was found that the predicted loss tangents agreed well with the experimental results. It is believed that the proposed model is beneficial to the rapid and rational configuration of the components for multilayer fabric according to thickness and dielectric properties of the components, and will provide a theoretical basis for the design of multilayer flexible electronic substrate.

The distributed generation (DG) refers to the use of the nearby units of small generation or in the sleefelzentres. Revisions have shown that unfitting choice of the position and scope of the DG can lead to bigger system sufferers than DG's sufferers. Public services are already available before the high loss of energy loss and of the mediocre voltage profile, in particular developing countries cannot tolerate any increase in losses. From optimal allocation, public services in the reduction of system losses improve tension adjustment and improve delivery reliability. This article aims to minimalize the annual system's annual loss through the appropriate positioning and size of the DG units. The artificials bee colony (ABC) of EPA are inspired by the behavior of the API feeding, this method is incredibly conventional, a stroke or a peoplated stochastic optimization algorithm to meet the solution of the specified problem. At MATLAB, a probabilistic approach is simulated to reach the target indicates that the size of the DGs to be installed to reduce almost the same loss as a percentage that the situation in which the load power is considered constant.
