This paper documents an interactive graphics installation entitled Lucid Mapping and Codex Transformissions in the Z-Buffer. Lucid Mapping uses the Virtual Reality Modeling Language to explore textual and narrative possibilities within three-dimensional (3D) electronic environments. The author describes the creative rationale and technical design of the work and places it within the context of other applications of 3D text and typography in the digital arts and the scientific visualization communities. The author also considers the implications of 3D textual environments on visual language and communication, and discriminates among a range of different visual/ rhetorical strategies that such environments can sustain.

Indonesia is rich in culture, ethnicity which one example is the traditional houses that exist in each province. Introduce Indonesian traditional house to users by using information technology as a medium of information could be one way to preserve the nation's culture. Limitations of the media information about traditional houses that currently can only be enjoyed through pictures or visit the traditional houses directly make society can not know the traditional houses in Indonesia optimally. Therefore we need a media so that people can know more about traditional houses in Indonesia without the need to visit directly into sites or less information such as 2-dimensional images in the book. Application developed is combination between virtual reality and website. Application built using the waterfall method. The virtual technology is embedded in a website that allows users to access them anytime and anywhere. Aplication was developed using VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) and 3ds Max modeling software, and using the programming language PHP, HTML, CSS, and MySQL database. The browser needs Cortona3D Viewer plug-in for displaying three-dimensional file. The results of making this application is an application that utilizes the VRML technology to display traditional house on the island of Java in three dimensions. The results show that this application runs in accordance with the design functionality that has been made.

Virtual Reality Modelling Language (VRML) is description language, which belongs to a field virtual reality (VR) system. The file, which is in VRML format, can be interpreted by VRML explorer in three-dimensional scene. VRML was created with aim to represent virtual reality on Internet easier. Development of 3D graphic is connected with Silicon Graphic Corporation. VRML 2.0 is the file format for describing interactive 3D scenes and objects. It can be used in collaboration with www, can be used for 3D complex representations creating of scenes, products or VR applications VRML 2.0 enables represent static and animated objects too. Interesting application of VRML is in area of automated workplaces simulation.

Gyrocompass is an important instrument which provides course to vessels, but its complex three-dimensional structure and principle of pointing towards the North is a bottleneck of studying gyrocompass. The master compass of Anschütz 4 gyrocompass are simulated by virtual reality modeling language VRML, so that using three-dimensional interactive to show the structure of the gyrocompass and the work principle is implemented and learners will have a direct cognition to each part of the gyrocompass and its work principle. The realization process of simulation in the virtual reality environment is described in detail and the relevant source codes is given.

A Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML)-based interactive three dimensional museum on the Web is designed and implemented. Users may walk through a 3D representation of the whole museum, viewing its collections, and seeing objects in 3D together with information about them. To allow all of these, we have designed a set of interactive dynamic Web pages, using a client-server platform that delivers the information required by the user, both 3D data of the objects and texts and 2D information. All this information is stored in a database to enable easier access and management.

By combining three-dimensional panorama technology with geometric modeling technology, the models of the primary and secondary equipment of substations are built to get a three-dimensional (3D) virtual environment. This method makes it easy to view the equipments and improves the integration of substation monitoring information. This paper analyzes and discusses two kinds of solutions which are based on Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) and Open Scene Graph (OSG) together with Qt as the main technologies.

The Genetic Sculpture Park seeks to engage artists and observers in a creative dialogue and to empower novices in the creation of complex computer-graphic models. Each visitor to the park experiences a unique set of sculptural forms and takes part in a cooperative conversation with the computer to produce more aesthetically pleasing designs. Inspired by Darwin's theory of evolution, the project uses genetic algorithms to allow visitors to “breed” forms tailored to their individual sense of aesthetics. In this article, the authors recount investigations into evolutionary design methodologies (using shampoo bottles and three-dimensional head models) and describe their implementation in the Genetic Sculpture Park, an interactive Java/Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) world.

To develop the storage and display system of two-dimensional and three-dimensional images with vivid effect and fast browsing speed based on VRML and JSP technology, this system uses three-tier MVC architecture, and based on a virtual reality modeling language (VRML) and JSP technology as a development platform to realize program and page-design separation to easy too change page-design. The system uploads WRL file to save through the background platform and magnifies two-dimensional images by JQuery technology.
