Since recently almost all housing built in Korean have shared walls and floor, diverse problems are unavoidable including noise between floor arising from noise and vibration. Many efforts have been made by the Korean government, but the number of complaints related with the noise between floors has been gradually increasing. Therefore, through the field measurements by house type, the current state of noise was understood. To do this, the noise between floors was measured in an apartment household and a multiplex house to perform a comparative analysis. As the result, the differences in the noise between the two house types were clarified. The findings of this research are expected to contribute to reduction of the noise between floors in an apartment building in the future.

This article is a comparative study of withdrawal as a defence to the criminal liability of an offender in Jordan (a civil law jurisdiction) and Australia (a common law jurisdiction). The analysis in this paper reveals that, in both jurisdictions, criminal laws have long accepted withdrawal as a conduit through which the offender’s liability can be modified or completely quashed. However, there has been no serious attempt, at least in Jordan, to provide anything approaching a complete explanation of the conditions under which the defence may be available and to explore its limits and boundaries. Neither has any serious effort been made to offer an account of the defence’s conceptual nature and governing rationale. The present paper seeks to identify and explore the defence’s conceptual basis and rationale, its current state of law and the appropriate direction in which the defence might be developed. To achieve this purpose, the paper is divided into three sections. In Section 1, it explores the conceptual nature of withdrawal. Section 2 addresses the rationale of the defence in light of the underlying principles of criminal liability in both jurisdictions. In Section 3 a comparative analysis of the defence’s qualifying requirements is undertaken in relation to both primary and accessorial criminal liability. Comparative analysis shows that withdrawal can be used as a defence to all forms of criminal complicity with differing degrees of variations in relation to both its qualifying requirements and the extent to which it may affect the liability of an offender. In cases involving incitement, however, the inciter cannot rely on the defence to avoid criminal liability although his or her punishment can be reduced pursuant to his or her voluntary withdrawal under the JPC.

This paper is devoted to the participle system in Bulgarian and Greek, presenting in a comparative plan the formation, meanings, functions and use of the different types of participles in the two languages. The paper focuses on the similarities and differences in the different types of participles, giving information about the frequency of their use in both languages. The traditional types of active and passive participles are considered separately. However, for some of the types of participles there are different opinions whether they should be included in the participle systems of the two studied languages, the article presents the relevant views and arguments of researchers. Such are, for example, the past imperfect active participle and the present passive participle in the Bulgarian language, as well as the present active participle and the aorist active participle in Greek. The present study is the first attempt to present the participle system in Bulgarian and Greek, with the comparison made at the system level in both languages. Apart from the theoretical plan, the conclusions formulated as a result of the comparative study of the participle systems of the two languages would be useful in practice in the assimilation of certain types of Greek participles by Bulgarians learning Greek. In the future, the field of study could be expanded into the comparative analysis of the participle system in Bulgarian and Greek at the level of speech (for example, on the basis of a translation corpus).

Введение. Приводится сопоставительный анализ имен числительных русского и персидского языков в семантико-структурном и функциональном плане. Цель – сопоставительное изучение русских и персидских числительных и выявление их расхождений и сходств для улучшения преподавания этой части речи персоязычным студентам. Материал и методы. Материалом исследования послужили разряды числительных в русском и персидском языках, которые отражены в русских и персидских пособиях и книгах по грамматике, а также словари и энциклопедии на русском и персидском языках. Результаты и обсуждение. Выясняются различия и сходства между разрядами числительных в русском и персидском языках. Обнаруживаются проблемы, с которыми сталкиваются персоговорящие учащиеся при употреблении русских имен числительных, особенно при переводе с персидского языка на русский. Заключение. В русском и персидском языках числительные делятся на несколько разрядов: количественные, порядковые и дробные числительные совпадают по значению и употреблению в обоих языках; собирательные числительные отсутствуют в персидском языке, а распределительные – в русском. Ни один из разрядов числительных в персидском языке, в отличие от русского, не склоняется. Это порождает ряд трудностей для персоговорящих студентов, изучающих русский язык, и проблема обостряется, когда некоторые числительные склоняются как существительные, а некоторые – как прилагательные во множественном числе. Русские неопределенно количественные числительные в персидском языке входят в разряд количественных наречий. Несмотря на то, что количественные числительные в русском и персидском языках совпадают по значению, употребление русских количественных числительных в винительном падеже при одущевленных и неодушевленных существительных различается, у персоязычных студентов часто возникают проблемы с правильным использованием этих числительных с одушевленными существительными. Introduction. The article is devoted to the comparative analysis of Russian and Persian numerals in semanticstructural and functional terms. The purpose of the study is a comparative study of Russian and Persian numerals and the identification of their differences and similarities in order to improve the teaching of this part of speech to Persianspeaking students. Material and methods. The material of the study is the digits in the Russian and Persian languages, which are reflected in Russian and Persian manuals and books on the grammar of both languages. Results and discussion. The differences and similarities between the digits in the Russian and Persian languages are clarified. There are problems that Persian-speaking students encounter when using Russian numerals, especially when translating from Persian to Russian. Conclusion. The author comes to the conclusion that, firstly, in the Russian and Persian languages, numerals are divided into several groups, among which the quantitative, ordinal and fractional numerals are the same, secondly, there are no collective numerals in the Persian language, and thirdly, there are no distribution numerals in Russian, fourthly, the category of numerals in the Persian language is not inclined, and in Russian almost all digits of the numerals are declining, fifthly, the indomitability of Persian numerals and the inclination of this part of speech in Russian are the source of a number of difficulties for Persons speaking Russian and the problem is exacerbated when some numerals are inclined as nouns, and some as adjectives in plural, sixth, Russian indefinitely quantitative numerals in the Persian language are included in the category of quantitative dialects.

In this paper, we perform a comparative analysis between the future proposed long-baseline experiments ESSnuSB and T2HK in measuring the leptonic CP phase [Formula: see text]. In particular, we study the effect of the neutrino mass ordering degeneracy and the leptonic mixing angle [Formula: see text] octant degeneracy in the measurement of leptonic CP violation and precision for both experiments. Since the ESSnuSB (T2HK) experiment probes the second (first) oscillation maximum to study neutrino oscillations, the effect of these degeneracies are significantly different in both experiments. Our main conclusion is that for the ESSnuSB experiment, the information on the neutrino mass ordering does not play a major role in the determination of [Formula: see text], which is not the case for the T2HK experiment. However, the information on the true octant compromises the CP sensitivity of the ESSnuSB experiment as compared to T2HK if [Formula: see text] lies in the lower octant. These conclusions are true for both the 540 km and 360 km baseline options for the ESSnuSB experiment. In addition, we investigate the effect of different running times in neutrino and antineutrino modes and the effect of [Formula: see text] precision in measuring [Formula: see text].

This paper,first presented on 21 October 1995 at ajoint seminar ofthe Scottish Law Commission and the Faculty of Law, University of Edinburgh, on the subject of breach of contract, considers the future development of the law in this area, first by considering its history and current state in comparative terms and drawing the conclusion that it is characterised by a mixture of Civilian and Common Law elements; second, by comparing Scots law with the provisions on breach contained in recently published proposals for a harmonised law of contract (the UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts, the Principles of European Contract Law prepared by the Lando Commission, and the draft “code”for the United Kingdom prepared on behalf of the English Law Commission by Harvey McGregor in the late 1960s) and in international conventions on the sale of goods. Although Scots law emerges reasonably wellfrom this exercise, there are a number of points to be taken on board in any future reform, as well as some insights into important underlying principles.

Listening skills should be given more attention as listening takes precedence over anything else when it comes to acquiring a language (Putriani, Sukirlan & Supriyadi, 2013). Even with the booming of various technology to facilitate teaching and learning of listening skills in class, the assessment conducted to identify students’ level of understanding of certain topic is still not up-to-date and not parallel with the advancement of technology. The current studies show that the use of mobile apps for listening purpose is proven to be effective in reducing students’ anxiety (Rahimi & Soleymani, 2015), sustaining students’ motivation (Read & Kukulska-Hulme, 2015), and improving students’ linguistic competencies (Ramos & Valderruten, 2017). This study is aimed to test the effectiveness of mobile application in assessing students’ listening skills. Diploma students from various faculties in UiTM Shah Alam were randomly chosen to answer listening comprehension questions via the prototype developed, named Pocket E-Li. The results demonstrate that the majority of the students provided positive response towards the implementation of mobile application for listening assessment. Almost all respondents agreed that listening assessment should be conducted via mobile application in the future. It can be concluded that listening assessment via mobile application is beneficial to students since it meets the students’ demands and needs which is equivalent with the use of current technology.

This paper will first briefly map out the shift from disciplinary to control societies (what I call designer capitalism, the idea of control comes from Gilles Deleuze) in relation to surveillance and mediation of life through screen cultures. The paper then shifts to the issues of digitalization in relation to big data that have the danger of continuing to close off life as zoë, that is life that is creative rather than captured via attention technologies through marketing techniques and surveillance. The last part of this paper then develops the way artists are able to resist the big data archive by turning the data in on itself to offer viewers and participants a glimpse of the current state of manipulating desire and maintaining copy right in order to keep the future closed rather than being potentially open.
