Research on order quantity plays an important role in logistics and supply chain (SC) whether for traditional economy objective or for low carbon objective. The paper summarizes the research framework of economic order quantity (EOQ) in brief. It also introduces and reviews the new research field carbon footprint order quantity (COQ). Comparing with the research of EOQ, it finds that the research on COQ is just beginning and the research assumptions still remain at the case of the “Square Root” era of EOQ a century ago. Based on some related literatures, the paper analyzes the effect of low carbon on social economy especially some influence factors related to order quantity. And it refers some important market forces affected by low carbon that are ignored by the literatures of COQ currently. Then the paper purposes the basic research approach of COQ. Finally, it provides several important topics of COQ for further research.

Under the background of increasingly severe climate warming, it is very important to advocate green travel and low carbon tourism behaviors. Taking Xingwen World Geopark as the research object, this paper study on the carbon footprint of tourism activities in terms of traffic, and how to coordinate the contradiction between the environment and traffic construction in tourism development. The results showed that different vehicles have different carbon emissions based on calculation of traffic carbon footprint in Geopark. Finally, through analyzing the influence factors of traffic carbon footprint distance, transport, energy structure and capacity, the paper put forward some suggestions on low carbon tourism development of Geopark.

This article outlines the original research concept developed and applied by the Voronezh researchers, which brought both quantitative and qualitative results to the field of linguistic comparative research. Their monograph is devoted to the macrotypological unity of the lexical semantics of the languages in Europe. In addition, semantic stratification of Russian and Polish lexis has been analyzed. Their research concept is now known as the “lexical-semantic macrotypological school of Voronezh.” Representatives of this school have created a new research field in theoretical linguistics – a lexical-semantic language macrotypology as a branch of linguistic typology. The monograph has been widely discussed and reviewed in Russia.

This article presents the conceptual foundations for the formation of a new research field “Judicial Geography”, including the prerequisites for its creation, academic, and theoretical development, both in Russia and abroad. The purpose of the study is to study the possibility of applying geographical methods and means in criminal law, criminal procedure, and in judicial activity in general via the academic direction “Judicial Geography”. The author describes in detail the main elements of judicial geography and its role and significance for such legal sciences, as criminal law, criminal procedure, criminalistics, and criminology among others. The employed research methods allow showing the main vectors of the development of judicial geography, taking into account the previous achievements of Russian and worldwide academics. The author indicates the role and place of judicial geography in the system of legal sciences. This study suggests a concept of using scientific geographical methods in the study of various legal phenomena of a criminal and criminal-procedural nature when considering the idea of building judicial bodies and judicial instances, taking into account geographical and climatic factors. In this regard, the author advises to introduce the special course “Judicial Geography”, which would allow law students to study the specifics of the activities of the judiciary and preliminary investigation authorities from a geographical point of view, as well as to use various geographical methods, including the mapping method, in educational and practical activities. The author concludes that forensic geography may become a new milestone for subsequent scientific research in geography and jurisprudence.

The increase in global temperatures requires substantial reductions in the greenhouse emissions from consumer choices. We use an experimental incentive-compatible online supermarket to analyse the effect of a carbon-based choice architecture, which presents commodities to customers in high, medium and low carbon footprint groups, in reducing the carbon footprints of grocery baskets. We relate this choice architecture to two other policy interventions: a bonus-malus carbon tax on all grocery products; and moral goal priming, using an online banner noting the moral importance of reducing one’s carbon footprint. Participants shopped from their home in an online store containing 612 existing food products and 39 existing non-food products for which we had data on carbon footprint, over three successive weeks, with the interventions occurring in the second and third weeks. Choice architecture reduced carbon footprint significantly in the third week by reducing the proportion of choices made in the high-carbon aisle. The carbon tax reduced carbon footprint in both weeks, primarily by reducing overall spend. The goal priming banner led to a small reduction in carbon footprint in the second week only. Thus, the design of the marketplace plays an important role in achieving the policy objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The expansion of Xi’an City has caused the consumption of energy and land resources, leading to serious environmental pollution problems. For this purpose, this study was carried out to measure the carbon carrying capacity, net carbon footprint and net carbon footprint pressure index of Xi’an City, and to characterize the carbon sequestration capacity of Xi’an ecosystem, thereby laying a foundation for developing comprehensive and reasonable low-carbon development measures. This study expects to provide a reference for China to develop a low-carbon economy through Tapio decoupling principle. The decoupling relationship between CO2 and driving factors was explored through Tapio decoupling model. The time-series data was used to calculate the carbon footprint. The auto-encoder in deep learning technology was combined with the parallel algorithm in cloud computing. A general multilayer perceptron neural network realized by a parallel BP learning algorithm was proposed based on Map-Reduce on a cloud computing cluster. A partial least squares (PLS) regression model was constructed to analyze driving factors. The results show that in terms of city size, the variable importance in projection (VIP) output of the urbanization rate has a strong inhibitory effect on carbon footprint growth, and the VIP value of permanent population ranks the last; in terms of economic development, the impact of fixed asset investment and added value of the secondary industry on carbon footprint ranks third and fourth. As a result, the marginal effect of carbon footprint is greater than that of economic growth after economic growth reaches a certain stage, revealing that the driving forces and mechanisms can promote the growth of urban space.

This main objective of this study was to introduce and investigate the concept of load of perceptual indifference (LPI) for assessment of load heaviness in manual lifting tasks. The loads of perceptual indifference were defined as those box weights which would result in the same values of subjective compatibility scores for a given pair of perceptual categories of load heaviness. At the point of indifference, the loads are perceived as to be acceptable, safe or not-too-heavy with an equal strength as the loads judged to be too-heavy for continuous lifting. The linguistic magnitude estimation (LME) method (Karwowski, 1990) was used for experimental and modeling purposes. This allowed to develop a quantitative model for the human assessment of four categories of lifted loads of interest. The results indicate that the lack of cognitive benchmark introduces inconsistency in subjects perception of load acceptability and safety compared to the concept of to-heavy load. In order to overcome this problem, a new research approach to manual lifting tasks is needed, based on the integration of cognitive engineering, active psychophysics and ecological approach.

Building on the diverse economies perspective of JK Gibson-Graham, this chapter discusses how conceptions of just and sustainable economies in the context of the Anthropocene can be generated and, more importantly, performed through social and solidarity economies in the global North. It reviews concepts of the SSE in the global North, and discusses the extent that the UK social economy sector has been tamed and neoliberalised as more antagonistic conceptions of co-operative and grassroots economies created by green and socialist activists in the 1970s and 1980s have been transformed into neoliberal conceptions of social enterprise, with an inbuilt assumption that the private sector is more effective than the public. It discusses how in conditions of austerity social enterprise can legitimate the abandonment of socially excluded communities, and that to counter this, the social economy sector in the UK should develop more antagonistic perspectives, learning from Latin Americans. Finally, it discusses the contribution of Transition Initiatives in rekindling conceptions of grassroots sustainable economies.

Superplasticity in fine-grained oxide ceramics has been generally elucidated on the basis of their experimental strain rate-flow stress relationship and phenomenological analysis of cavity nucleation and growth. It has been widely accepted that the high temperature superplastic flow and failure in ceramics is significantly influenced by the atomic structure and chemistry of grain boundaries. Such phenomenon cannot be explained based on the classical phenomenological analysis. Our research group has therefore proposed to establish a new research field, grain boundary plasticity, to describe the superplastic deformation related to the grain boundary atomic structure. This paper aims to point out the importance of the atomistic analysis of grain boundary to develop new superplastic ceramics.
