The technology of forming metal / plastics compound parts combined metal rolling, plastics extrusion and the bonding of metal and plastics were introduced. On compound forming, the principle on adhesion interface and the purpose and method of surface treatment on sheet metal were analyzed. The experiments on compound forming of zincked sheet metal / TPO were progressed as a example.

Properties and functional behavior of modern products are strongly influenced by their surface characteristics - like their appearance and haptics as well as their optical, tribological and fluidic performance [1]. In present production processes these functional features are mostly generated by surface treatment processes (e. g. grinding, etching, coating). In contrast to these costintensive and complex off-line sequences rolling provides an opportunity to apply functional structures on sheet metal products using non-pollutive synergy-potentials of the process.

The application of high strength aluminum sheet metal components in automotive and aviation products effectively saves material and thus weight. Material strengthening can be realized by accumulative roll bonding (ARB), which belongs to the severe plastic deformation processes. Through repeated rolling steps a multilayered sheet metal is produced, which possesses increased strength due to its ultra-fine grained microstructure. Prior to each rolling step a surface treatment via wire brushing is mandatory for removing the oxide layer and roughening the sheet surface, which enables the bonding between the unique layers during rolling. The necessary surface treatment of the sheets is not fully understood by the current state of the art. In the past, it was not possible to achieve a defined and stable surface finish, because the brushing operation was done manually. The improvement of the process stability is essential to determine the relationship between the input parameters for brushing and the resulting bond strength of multilayered ARB sheets. For this reason, a robot-controlled surface treatment is introduced. The investigated material is the precipitation-hardened aluminum AA6014 with a sheet thickness of 1 mm. A suitable brushing kinematic under constant load is implemented and its effects on the surface properties are investigated by roughness measurements. The investigation shows, that the parameter combination leads to comparable or even higher roughness values than through manual brushing. Through 16 consecutive brushing paths a homogeneous and sufficient high surface roughness is realized, which enables material bonding in the rolling step. Thus, the research results indicate, that the robot-assisted surface treatment of ARB sheet metal is a promising method for a better automation and reproducibility of the brushing and the overall ARB process.

To determine the accuracy of the readjustable punches for separating operations (perforation + punching out) of sheet-metal forming, the accuracy parameters were analyzed using the random balance method using the method of experiment planning. Analytical dependencies are obtained to determine the values of deviation of the outer and inner contour dimensions of perforated and punched out sheet parts. From the dependencies obtained, it is possible to estimate and predict the value of deviation in the dimensions of the resulting part at any time during the operation of the punch. Practical recommendations on the calculation of the actuating dimensions of the working elements (stamping punch, matrix) of readjustable punches are offered.

During the last decades, researchers have been growing the interest in surface treatment with an antimicrobial agent. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are widely used in biomedical fields due to their potent antimicrobial activity. So, in this study was investigated silver particles (isles) coated on titanium surface for dental and orthopedic application. Silver particles coating process on titanium surface were performed via sputtering that is a plasma-assisted deposition technique with and titanium without treatment was applied as comparing standard. Plasma treatment parameters were optimized so that the result was not a thin film of Ag but dispersed particles of Ag on the Ti-cp surface. The alloy surfaces were investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). In order to investigate antibacterial potential Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli have been used at Agar diffusion assay. The results were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) in order to verify significant difference antimicrobial activity between samples that have shown no difference between the surfaces studied treatments. For silver deposition scattered particles (isles) over titanium surface for a 10-minute treatment, EDS revealed by silver clusters that the particles were not properly scattered onto surface, hence, the low effectiveness in antibacterial activity.
