ABSTRACT

Smart home technology today has been widely developed, including the home automation and security systems. In the home automation system developed is a system of lights, fans, and faucet water ablution automatically. This home automation system was developed for the purpose of supporting electricity and water conservation programs. Then in the home security system developed among them is a gas leak detection system and also fire. Gas leak detection systems are developed with the aim of preventing gas leakage from continuing so as to minimize explosion. Then in the fire detection system was built with the aim to prevent the occurrence of widespread fire that is equipped with fire extinguishers. Smart home technology developed, both in home automation systems and security will be controlled centrally by the microcontroller. The purpose of this development is for the house to be an efficient house with electricity savings as well as water savings, and can be a safe and comfortable place to live.
Keywords: smart home, automatic lighting, automatic fan, automatic water tap, gas leak detection, fire detection

Home automation, through computers, electronics, and telecommunications, is at the service of people with disability in terms of security, comfort, and social bonding. It is based on the ability to interact remotely with the house's equipment, which makes it "Smart". Thus, the fact of being able to activate equipment without moving by utilizing voice or a remote control allows reducing movements and therefore retain a certain autonomy.

In this paper the home automation systems to support elderly and physically challenged people in providing them secure, safe and controlled environment is reviewed. Various technologies like Brain Controlled Interface (BCI) technology, Human Computer Interface system, GSM SMS services, Bluetooth, PIC Microcontroller with ZigBee modulation, Voice controlled home automation, Novel Electroculogram (EOG), Assistive Visible Light Communication (VLC) etc. are discussed. By using smart home technology, the life of such people becomes easier and comfortable. The proposed paper is dedicated to old age and physically impaired people.

The article examines the dependence of the “smart home” technology on the technical capabilities of the engineering infrastructure. Home automation ideas have been evolving since the early 20th century. However, this technology is not widespread yet due to a number of features of the system. We consider the dependence of the reliability of the system on the characteristics of external power grids. There are technological developments in housing construction sphere that make it possible to maximize the satisfaction of the needs of residents. At the same time, the irrational distribution of capacities, the unpredictability (for operating organizations) of territorial development plans, and increased consumer demands hinder the use of modern technologies.

In this paper, the design and application of smart wheelchair and charging station for disabled citizen is realized. The first stage of the paper is to make the wheelchair used by our disabled citizens able to access smart home technology via the vehicle via touch screen. The ability of citizens with disabilities to call with direct access via touch screen is also in the wheelchair designed. Thanks to the touch screen placed on the vehicle, disabled citizens are provided with the control of smart automation to control many objects such as curtains and doors in the home. In the second part of the paper, a solar powered charging station is designed and installed in order to charge battery powered wheelchairs. In the charging station made a special card reader system and has the charger to charge the card with disabilities to actively and means are provided.

Smart thermostats represent an innovative smart home technology and a growing commercial opportunity, yet little is known about the salient factors that affect the adoption of such devices. To address this gap in research, we conduct a three-stage study that progresses through belief elicitation, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factory analysis within a nomological network. We leverage the mixed methods approach to explore the factorial structure of salient perceived benefits and concerns associated with smart thermostats, and we examine the effects of the emergent factors on the adoption intention. We discover that a novel factor, which we term techno-coolness, is the key predictor of the smart thermostat adoption intention. Techno-coolness encompasses the perceptions that a smart thermostat can make a home look modern and futuristic, be fun to use, and make the user feel technologically advanced. We also find that compatibility concerns as well as privacy concerns are significant impediments to the smart thermostat adoption intention.
