Mesostructured nickel phosphate was synthesized with urea as alkali by sol-gel method. The obtained material nominated as NiPO-3 was characterized by means of XRD, ICP, FT-IR, TEM, and N2 adsorption. In contrast to mesoporous nickel phosphate NiPO-1 and NiPO-2 we reported before, NiPO-3 exhibits relatively longer nanotubes reached up to 400~600 nm. N2 adsorption shows that NiPO-3 possesses high BET surface area (345.8 m2g-1) and pore volume (0.46 cm3g-1). The catalytic performance of NiPO-3 showed that the total selectivity of epoxycyclohexane and hexadienol was as high as 83.38%.

Ag/ZnO nanocomposite photocatalysts with high photocatalytic performance were successfully synthesized via a facile sol-gel method. The prepared Ag/ZnO products were characterized by XRD, SEM, EDS, FT-IR, BET surface area, TG and DSC. Photodegradation experiments of the samples were carried out by choosing Methylene Blue (MB) as a model target under UV irradiation with homemade photocatalytic apparatus. Among these products, when the molar ratio of Ag to ZnO was fixed at 0.07 and the calcination temperature was around 450 °C, the obtained samples exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity.

TiO2/stellerite composite photocatalysts were prepared by dispersing TiO2 onto the surface of HCl, NaOH, or NaCl treated stellerite using a sol-gel method. The materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), BET surface area analysis, and X-ray diffraction (XRD). HCl and NaCl modification result in the promotion of the pore formation at the stellerite surfaces and induced the microscopic changes, while the surface morphology and structure of the stellerite were almost ruined by NaOH modification. Supported TiO2 calcinated at 200°C presented anatase structure. The photocatalytic degradation activities of TiO2 loaded HCl and NaCl modified stellerite were better than that of natural stellerite, accompanied with increasing specific surface area. On the contrary, NaOH modification induced the loss of photocatalytic ability of composite due to the generation of silicates.

SomeTiO2powders, prepared from titanium(IV)tetraisopropoxide by the sol-gel method and thermally treated between 100 and1000∘C, have been characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and by nitrogen adsorption and desorption at 77 K to calculate the BET-specific surface area, from which the micropore volume and the external surface area can be derived. The photocatalytic activity (ka) of the above powders has been evaluated considering theTiO2-sensitized photo-oxidation of 4-methoxybenzyl alcohol inCH3CN as the test reaction. The decrease ofkahave been related to the decrease of the BET surface area, the micropore volume, and the external surface area of theTiO2powders, but a satisfactory linear correlation is observed only for the last superficial parameter.

Abstract Sonicated sol-gel method was used to prepare LaNiO3 from lanthanum nitrate hexahydrate La(NO3)3.6H2O(LN), nickel nitrate Ni(NO3)3.6H2O(NN), glycine and urea. Nanocrystalline LaNiO3 powder was formed after heating at 175 °C in 5 min. Particle size of LaNiO3 nanopowder was determined by Debay Scherrer’s equation and was found 48 nm. Prepared nanocatalyst characterized with the help of XRD, TGA, SEM, IR, BET surface area, EDX. Surface area of LaNiO3 was 9.22 m2/g. We have reported first time good antibacterial activity of LaNiO3 for Staphylococcus aureus. Zone of inhibition for LaNiO3 was 13 mm studied with the help of agar cup method.

In this present study, the spherical silica support was synthesized from tetraethyloxysilane (TEOS), water, sodium hydroxide, ethylene glycol and n-dodecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (C12TMABr). The particle size was controlled by variation of the ethylene glycol co-solvent weight ratio of a sol-gel method preparation in the range of 0.10 to 0.50. In addition, the particle size apparently increases with high weight ratio of co-solvent, but the particle size distribution was broader. The standard deviation of particle diameter is large when the co-solvent weight ratio is more than 0.35 and less than 0.15. However, the specific surface area was similar for all weight ratios ranging from 1000 to 1300 m2/g. The synthesized silica was spherical and has high specific surface area. The cobalt was impregnated onto the obtained silica to produce the cobalt catalyst used for CO2 hydrogenation.</

The La0.75Sr0.25Cr0.5Mn0.5O3-δnanometer powders were prepared by citric acid sol-gel method. The samples were characterized by DTA, FT-IR, XRD, TEM techniques. The preparation process, morphology of synthesized powders, the best heat-treatment temperature and the electrochemical performance had been studied. The results show that the spherical nanometer powders can be obtained and the best heat-treatment temperature is 800°C. The particle size is about 30nm and Ea is 0.071 eV.

NanosizedTiO2powder was synthesized via sol-gel method using titanium tetraisopoxide (TPT) as the precursor. Mol ratios of water to TPT were varied from 1 (Powder A), 2 (Powder B), 3 (Powder C), and 4 (Powder D) to evaluate effect of hydrolysis degree. TG/DTA curves showed that amorphous phase turned to anatase crystal structure at ca. 415, 337, 310, and339∘C for Powders A, B, C, and D, respectively. XRD analysis showed that all the synthesizedTiO2powders were 100% in anatase form with Powders B and C showing considerably higher crystallinities. The powders obtained at lower water to TPT mol ratios were spherical in shape and they became bar-like shapes higher mol ratios. The lower hydrolysis degree led to higher surface area of the Powder A (24.8 m2/g) compared to Powder B (14.6 m2/g). From phenol photocatalytic measurement, Powder B was the most efficient attributed to its higher crystallinity.
