: Some species of Cordyceps sensu lato are famous Chinese herbs with significant biological activities, often used as edible food and traditional medicine in China. Cordyceps represents the largest entomopathogenic group of fungi, including 40 genera and 1339 species in three families and incertae sedis of Hypocreales. Objective: Most of the Cordyceps-derivatives have been approved clinically for the treatment of various diseases such as diabetes, cancers, inflammation, cardiovascular, renal and neurological disorders and are used worldwide as supplements and herbal drugs, but there is still need for highly efficient Cordyceps-derived drugs for fatal diseases with approval of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Methods: Computer-aided drug design concepts could improve the discovery of putative Cordyceps- derived medicine within less time and low budget. The integration of computer-aided drug design methods with experimental validation has contributed to the successful discovery of novel drugs. Results: This review focused on modern taxonomy, active metabolites, and modern drug design techniques that could accelerate conventional drug design and discovery of Cordyceps s. l. Successful application of computer-aided drug design methods in Cordyceps research has been discussed. Conclusion: It has been concluded that computer-aided drug design techniques could influence the multiple target-focused drug design, because each metabolite of Cordyceps has shown significant activities for the various diseases with very few or no side effects.

A mild heteroatom methylation protocol using trimethyl phosphate (TMP)-Ca(OH)2 combination has been developed, which proceeds in DMF, or water, or under neat conditions at 80 oC or at room temperature. A series of O-, N- and S-nucleophiles, including phenols, sulfonamides, N-heterocycles such as 9H-carbazole, indole derivatives, 1,8-naphthalimide, and aryl/alkyl thiols are suitable substrates of this protocol. The high efficiency, operational simplicity, scalability, cost-efficiency, and environmental friendly nature of this protocol make it an attractive alternative to the conventional base prompted heteroatom methylation procedures.

The paper surveys and analyzes the basic present condition of Suiling black pottery in Heilongjiang Province, and innovates and designs black pottery products. This paper combines traditional technologies with modern design methods to enrich the categories of black pottery products, expands the industry chain, and promotes the economic development of Suiling. The rapid development of modern industry led to the decline of handicraft, and the development of Suiling black pottery has stagnated. Handicrafts should be designed and transformed to ensure the inheritance of traditional culture and skills.

New design methodologies at higher abstraction levels are necessary to deal with the increasing complexity of modern embedded systems. As a consequence, new design paradigms must supersede traditional design methods to bridge the abstraction gap which often exists between specification and implementation. This paper examines several examples which evaluate the applicability of Esterel, a language with well-defined semantics for specification and verification of reactive control systems. Implementation size, performance and design effort were selected as measures to assess the benefits of this design approach in comparison to a traditional one.

According to requirements of fire service, turbopump is used to supply water from low-level water resources. The efficiency of agricultural irrigation turbopump is too low to provide sufficient water to fire control, so a fire turbopump is designed in this paper. It is common to design a turbopump by empirical methods, but this causes turbopump not to operate at best efficiency point. Therefore, three design concepts of new turbopump model, existing hydraulic match model and turbopump conversion model are discussed. Their theories and application conditions are also listed. After design of fire turbopump by new turbopump model, numerical simulation is conducted to analyze the pressure field to predict operating status. The open rig experiment is also presented to confirm its performance characteristics. The pump head and flow rate of the designed turbopump meets the requirements of fire ground and it is proved that the efficiency of fire turbopump is much higher than irrigation turbopump, which indicates the new turbopump model is an effective strategy to design turbopump.
