PurposeOne of the most significant threats of COVID-19 in the world is the closure of universities, schools, training courses and even companies and organizations. In such a situation and with the free time that has arisen, this threat of education closure can become a golden opportunity for learning and progress in virtual education. E-learning uses information technology (IT) to distribute knowledge and information for training and education. Also, cloud computing is a technology utilized in the IT domain. It can be employed in performing e-learning. Therefore, the main goal of this study is to assess the impact of cultural characteristics, economic situations, skills and knowledge on the development and success of CELS in the COVID-19 era.Design/methodology/approachCloud-based e-learning system (CELS) provides all e-learning requirements like software and hardware resources to promote conventional e-learning technologies. The CELS stands on several factors of diverse aspects that have been of high significance in CELS success. So, these systems must be checked to analyze their significance rate and successfully carry out their effectiveness. On the other hand, these days, the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) changes our daily lifestyles. Therefore, the present investigation provides a new model investigating the development and success of CELS in the COVID-19 era. Also, an online questionnaire was used to gather the data. The content validity of the questionnaire was obtained by applying the opinions of ten experts from e-learning specialists. The collected data are analyzed using LISREL and Smart PLS software.FindingsThe results from the path coefficient and the sample t-test have implied that skills and knowledge positively influence CELS in the COVID-19 era. In addition, the relationship between cultural characteristics and CELS in the COVID-19 era has been positive and significant. The relationship between the economic situations and the CELS in the COVID-19 era is positive and significant.Practical implicationsThe proposed model helps managers get a big picture of CELS necessities and more effectively in the COVID-19 era. This research has a unique impact on universities to develop an e-learning platform to facilitate the education process in the COVID-19 era. It provides guidelines for educational institutions to effectively implement the learning management system to facilitate students' education.Originality/valueCELS are getting increasingly essential to offer training courses more efficiently in educational institutions. Although the intersection between cloud computing and e-learning has increasingly grown in both practical and academic contexts, few studies on the impact of cultural characteristics, economic situations, skills and knowledge on the development and success of CELS in the COVID-19 era. This paper explores the ignored but critically important subject of CELS. This paper's main contribution is to present a new and integrated model containing the essential aspects of the development and success of CELS in the COVID-19 era. The proposed framework comprises cultural characteristics, economic situations, skills and knowledge aspects simultaneously, as well as sub-criteria denoting each element.

The teaching-learning process, especially in higher education has always been a matter of great concern in developing countries as it makes the nation’s youth capable and is a mainstay towards its development. With the introduction of ICT, it has become even more important to change the learning methodology using the latest technologies like e-Learning, m-Learning, Cloud Computing etc., to match with the education standards of developed countries. This aim of this paper is to provide an insight about the use of e-Learning and cloud computing in HEIs. The paper also discusses the various cloud based adoption technologies used for HEIs and illustrates the comparative analysis of the web based and cloud based e-Learning system.

An aircraft engine (aeroengine) operates in an extremely harsh environment, causing the working state of the engine to constantly change. As a result, the engine is prone to various kinds of wear faults. This paper proposes a new intelligent method for the diagnosis of aeroengine wear faults based on oil analysis, in which broad learning system (BLS) and ensemble learning models are introduced and integrated into the bagging-BLS model, in which 100 sub-BLS models are established, which are further optimized by ensemble learning. Experiments are conducted to verify the proposed method, based on the analysis of oil data, in which the random forest and single BLS algorithms are used for comparison. The results show that the output accuracy of the proposed method is stable (at 0.988), showing that the bagging-BLS model can improve the accuracy and reliability of engine wear fault diagnosis, reflecting the development trend of fault diagnosis in implementing intelligent technology.

The present review will try to sum up the research on the microstructure and properties of the Ti(C,N)-based cermets materials in recent years. Firstly, the development history, the microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti(C,N)-based cermets, and the relationship between Ti(C,N)-based cermets microstructure and their properties were introduced respectively. Secondly, Compared with different microstructure and properties of Ti(C,N)-based cermets material which were made by different composite constituent. Furthermore, the relationship between mechanical properties of Ti(C,N)-based cermets and sintering method was introduced. Results show that the high performance products can be produced by means of fast sintering techniques at low temperature successfully, such as spark plasma sintering technology. However, the most widely used way is vacuum sintering method. Lastly, the development trend of Ti(C,N)-based cermets were included.

It is a development trend to build a network learning platform for the current university course teaching, but universities or colleges can’t share the learning information with each other effectively. Meanwhile, the whole screen synchronous display will consume wireless network mobile data. This network learning platform can combine the grid with the network synchronization technology to synchronize the information displayed on the multimedia equipment with the learners' computers. Besides, it can share the network instructional resources. A new teaching technology combining the course synchronous system with the network learning platform proposed in this article with the grid, the network teaching system and the synchronization technology of network learning platform as the theoretical basis is composed of 2 parts: the learning module (including the course learning function and the assignment uploading and correcting function) and the synchronous display module. We tested the practical effect of the new network learning platform and found that this platform could broaden the learning space of the architecture specialty, facilitate the sharing of learning resources, improve the learning quality effectively, and complement the implementation of traditional learning methods beneficially.

In recent years, traditional development techniques for e-learning systems have been changing to become more convenient and efficient. One new technology in the development of application systems includes both cloud and ubiquitous computing. Cloud computing can support learning system processes by using services while ubiquitous computing can provide system operation and management via a high performance technical process and network. In the cloud computing environment, a learning service application can provide a business module or process to the user via the internet. This research focuses on providing the learning material and processes of courses by learning units using the services in a ubiquitous computing environment. And we also investigate functions that support users’ tailored materials according to their learning style. That is, we analyzed the user’s data and their characteristics in accordance with their user experience. We subsequently applied the learning process to fit on their learning performance and preferences. Finally, we demonstrate how the proposed system outperforms learning effects to learners better than existing techniques.

Combing through the concept of cloud computing and e-services, analyzes the relationship between e-services, e-government and e-commerce of the three concepts. The current model of development of electronic services, mainly in the following categories: process integration model, information sharing patterns, front and back of a mixed mode operation. The development trend of the cloud computing model of electronic services is bound to relying on the cloud platform to build electronic services.

This study will present an application design process in the style of Representational State Transfer (REST) architecture to support the E-Learning platform in the cloud computing ecosystem. An application optimization process will be presented to provide E-Learning applications for schools, faculties or universities that in most cases need manual deployment and require more time for server provisioning. This process is optimized by providing application solutions that can provide speed of provisioning. The core system used Kubernetes containerization technology to provide scalability of growing E-Learning tenants. Evaluation of the core system architecture uses the Architecture Trade-off Analysis Method (ATAM) to evaluate aspect of performance and scalability as quality attributes. From the experimentalresults, the process of making new tenants for schools requires an average time of around 173.4 seconds. This meets the expectations of the set time limit of 5 minutes. The results of stress tests for 250 concurrent users show that the system has availability above 98%.Thus,education stakeholders such as schools and universities, no longer need to provide expensive e-learning infrastructure in the form of hardware or manpower to deploy the e-learning application on premise. In the future, this solution will provide a scalable E-Learning system that can spread at scale on the cloud computing ecosystem and support a Software as a Service solution in educational technology.
