Using Yb(NO3)3•6H2O and Fe(NO3)3•9H2O as raw material, the YbFeO3 nanoparticles were synthesized by microwave assisted method. The YbFeO3 nanoparticles were characterized by thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). It was found that the prepared YbFeO3 show an average grain size of 80 nm in diameter, and strong visible-light absorption with absorption onset of 608 nm, indicating a narrow optical band gap of 2.04eV. Consequently, the YbFeO3 nanoparticles show high photocatalytic activity for decomposition of methylene blue under visible-light irradiation.

Using Fe (NO3)3⋅9H2O, Y(NO3)3⋅6H2O and citric acid as the main raw material, the YFeO3 nanoparticles were synthesized by ultrasonic assisted process and calcination. The YFeO3 nanoparticles were characterized by thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). The results show that the perovskite structureYFeO3 (YFeO3-800) can be obtained through the calcination of ultrasonic processed YFeO3 precursors at 800 °C, and the resulting product has a particle size of 70 nm and an optical band gap of 2.0 eV. Consequently, the YFeO3-800 nanoparticles show high photocatalytic activity for decomposition of methyl orange under visible-light irradiation.

The samples were characterized by thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). It was found that the single phase ErFeO3 can be obtained through the calcination of microwave processed ErFeO3 precursors at 800°C, and the resulting product was approximation flake of 20-80 nm. The visible-light photocatalytic activity of ErFeO3 nanoparticles was investigated in experimental simulation wastewater containing 10 mg/L methyl orange (MO). The results show that ErFeO3 nanoparticles appear high photocatalytic activity for the decomposition of MO under visible-light irradiation.

Using La (NO3)3·6H2O, TiCl4 , and citric acid as the main raw materials, nanocrystalline La2Ti2O7 samples were prepared by microwave assisted method. The structure and morphology of samples were characterized by thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity of La2Ti2O7 was studied for methyl orange (MO) used as simulated sewage. It was found that the single phase La2Ti2O7 could be obtained through the calcination of microwave processed La2Ti2O7 precursors at 600 °C. The resulted product had an approximate spherical shape and average grain size of 50 nm in diameter. Under UV light, the photocatalytic experiment indicated that the prepared La2Ti2O7 nanocrystalline had high photocatalytic activity for degradation of methyl orange.

The LaNiO3 nanoparticles were prepared by a sol-gel process. The LaNiO3 nanoparticles were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). XRD and SEM demonstrate the successful synthesis of single phase perovskite LaNiO3 and an average grain size of 80 nm in diameter. It was found that the as-prepared LaNiO3 shows strong visible-light absorption with absorption onset of 545 nm, indicating a narrow optical band gap of 2.28 eV. Consequently, LaNiO3 nanoparticles show high visible-light photocatalytic activity for decomposition of methyl orange in comparison with the commercial Degussa P25. The photocatalytic experiment shows the high photocatalytic activity for the decomposition of methyl orange under visible-light irradiation, which is attributed to the strong visible-light absorption.

BiOBr nanoplates, marked asα-BiOBr andβ-BiOBr, were synthesized via hydrothermal method using cetylpyridinium bromide (CPB) and NaBr as reactants, respectively. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), N2adsorption/desorption, UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-Vis DRS), and cyclic voltammetry (CV) were employed to characterize the obtained BiOBr. The results showed thatα-BiOBr andβ-BiOBr can absorb visible light and both the band gaps of them were about 2.76 eV. Under visible light irradiation, the photodegradation of organic dye sulforhodamine (SRB) and salicylic acid (SA) usingα-BiOBr andβ-BiOBr as the catalysts was carried out. The reaction kinetic constants of the degradation of SRB byα-BiOBr andβ-BiOBr were 0.00602 min−1and 0.0047 min−1, respectively, which indicated that the photocatalytic activity ofα-BiOBr was higher than that ofβ-BiOBr. The UV-Vis DRS and total organic carbon (TOC) were also monitored, and the TOC removal rate ofα-BiOBr andβ-BiOBr was 86% and 48%, respectively. At the same time, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and active radicals were measured and analyzed, which showed that the main active species wasOH∙during the photocatalytic reaction.

Consequently, the prepared nano-Bi2MoO6show high visible-light photocatalytic activity for decomposition of Rhodamine B in comparison with the commercial Degussa P25, which was ascribed to the visible-light absorption.

Using Er (NO3)3·6H2O, Fe (NO3)3·9H2O, Ni (NO3)3·6H2O as main raw materials, the nanosized Ni2+-doped ErFeO3 was prepared by microwave assisted method. The Ni2+-doped ErFeO3 samples were characterized by thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). The different doping amount was studied for photocatalytic properties of samples. The results show that the Ni2+-doped ErFeO3 is perovskite structure (ABO3), and its average grain size is nearly 80nm. Under the visible-light, using the methyl-orange as simulate sewages, the Ni2+-doped ErFeO3 has higher photocatalytic activity than pure ErFeO3 powder, and the doping amount of 0.02 to ErFeO3 is the best. When the illumination time of the visible light is 120 min, the degradation rate of the best ratio of the samples can rise to nearly 100% for the decomposition of methyl orange. Therefore, the nanosized Ni2+-doped ErFeO3 is an excellent visible-light photocatalyst.
