In order to achieve the carbon reduction targets committed by China, Liaoning Province must take the way of low-carbon economy. Based on the related Statistical Yearbook data, applying the IPCC carbon emissions equation and Kaya model, this paper analyses the influencing factors of the carbon dioxide emissions produced from the power consumption of Liaoning Province. and then put forward some suggestion on reducing carbon emissions. The results show that Liaoning Province can achieve the goal, but unit GDP CO2 emissions reduction is mainly due tothe investment expansion of the second industry and construction industry investment expansion. As a result, it puts forward some suggestions.

The depletion of fossil fuels and climate change concerns are drivers for the development and expansion of bioenergy. Promoting biomass is vital to move civilization toward a low-carbon economy. To meet European Union targets, it is required to increase the use of agricultural residues (including straw) for power generation. Using agricultural residues without accounting for their energy consumed and carbon dioxide emissions distorts the energy and environmental balance, and their analysis is the purpose of this study. In this paper, a life cycle analysis method is applied. The allocation of carbon dioxide emissions and energy inputs in the crop production by allocating between a product (grain) and a byproduct (straw) is modeled. Selected crop yield and the residue-to-crop ratio impact on the above indicators are investigated. We reveal that straw formation can consume between 30% and 70% of the total energy inputs and, therefore, emits relative carbon dioxide emissions. For cereal crops, this energy can be up to 40% of the lower heating value of straw. Energy and environmental indicators of a straw return-to-field technology and straw power generation systems are examined.

China's CO2 emissions from 1990 to 2010 were calculated as well as two economical models were established, and the relationship between carbon dioxide emissions, economic growth, foreign direct investment (FDI) and export trade was analyzed. The result shows that the relations between China's carbon emissions and GDP showing the "N" type. Economic growth and export trade had significantly promoted China's carbon emissions, while the relations between FDI and China's carbon emissions are not significant. During the past years, exports have played an important role in promoting china's economic development. However, the main exporting industries are energy and emission intensive, which reveals disadvantage for carbon reduction. To reverse the negative impact of the export to china's carbon dioxide emissions, export structure should be optimized, and the outdated technology, equipment and products should be eliminated, while energy-conservative and environmental friendly industries should be promoted.

The research estimates the carbon dioxide emissions of energy consumption from 2003 to 2011 using the method in IPCC national greenhouse gases listing guidance, by adopting the method of Kaya identities and Laspeyres index decomposition technique to analyze the influencing factors and the influencing degree. The result shows that the main factors influencing carbon dioxide emissions are energy structure and per capita GDP, and to develop clean energy, to improve energy structure are important choice to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of energy consumption, realize low carbon in the future. This research provides an important reference to protect the environment and to promote the sustainable development of economy.

Carbon emissions exacerbate global climate change. Transitioning away from coal is a cost-effective path to a low-carbon economy. Although many articles have considered the issue of manufacturers' production and emission of pollution. Few papers have discussed the impact of environmental tax and fuel tax on the cost of environmental degradation. This paper seeks to fill this gap by developing a theoretical model to discuss the relationship between environmental pollution and economic growth. Furthermore, in order to support the theoretical results and testify the relationship between carbon emissions and taxation, we take South Africa as a case for discussing the effect of environmental taxation and fuel levy on firms' carbon emissions. We show that the impact of environmental taxes on carbon dioxide emissions is greater than that of fuel taxes on carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, we find that the GDP level of South Africa is on the left of the inflection points of Kuznets Curve. In other words, the current growth of South Africa's economy is at the cost of worsening the environmental degradation.

Currently, the global economic growth model is based on the input of resources, especially the input of energy. Throughout the energy structures all over the world, mostly coal, oil, natural gas and other high-carbon fossil fuels, and those high-carbon fossil fuels have become the main source of atmospheric carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. Economic growth and energy consumption, there should be causal relationship between economic growth and carbon dioxide emissions, the economic growth model can get rid of the fossil energy constraints, whereas carbon dioxide emissions can be disconnected from the economic growth, to cope with these problems facing the development of low-carbon economy in Mongolia. The research makes use of time-series model to test the causal relationship between economic growth and energy consumption, economic growth and carbon dioxide emissions as well as between energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.

As an emissions abatement mechanism focusing on property rights theory and market trading methods, carbon emissions rights trading plays an important role in achieving low-carbon economic development, which has already garnered broad worldwide recognition. In the aftermath of the implementation of an initial, seven-province/city, carbon emissions rights trading pilot project, in 2017 China launched a carbon emissions trading rights market on a national basis. The authors of this paper provide a theoretical basis for research into this trading market’s impacts on energy conservation, reduction of emissions, and on economically sustaining, healthy development, from the following four perspectives: the history of the market’s development, a comparison of carbon reduction mechanisms associated with differing carbon tax levies, the effects of carbon emissions rights trading’s implementation, and the influencing factors on such trading. They systematically summarize, sort out, and evaluate the most recent, related carbon emissions rights trading literature, and then based on this analysis offer up insights regarding possible developments and refinements of future carbon emissions rights trading research.

China has allocated low-carbon targets into all regions and trades, and road traffic also has its own emission reduction targets. Congestion may increase carbon emissions from road traffic. It is worthwhile to study whether it is possible to achieve the goal of road traffic reduction by controlling congestion; that is, to achieve the equilibrium between traffic congestion and a low-carbon economy. The innovation of this paper is mainly reflected in the innovative topic selection, the introduction of a traffic index, and the establishment of the first traffic congestion and low-carbon economic equilibrium model. First, the relevant calculation method of the traffic index is introduced, and the traffic index is used to quantify the traffic congestion degree. Using the traffic index, GDP, and road passenger traffic volume, a nonlinear regression model of road traffic carbon emissions is constructed. Then, the calculation method of the carbon emission intensity of road traffic in the region is proposed. The equilibrium model of traffic congestion and a low-carbon economy is constructed to look for the degree of road traffic congestion that may occur under the permitted carbon emission intensity. Taking Beijing, where electric vehicles account for less than 3% of the total vehicles, as an example, it is difficult to achieve the equilibrium target between road traffic congestion and a low-carbon economy by alleviating traffic congestion in 2020. If the target of traffic carbon emission reduction in 2020 is adjusted from 40%–45% to 19.7% based on 2005, the equilibrium will be achieved. A negative correlation between road traffic carbon emissions and the reciprocal of the traffic index (1/TI) is found after eliminating the effects of GDP and PTV (road passenger traffic volume). As the traffic index decreases by units, the carbon emission reduction accelerates. The results show that carbon reduction targets cannot be simply allocated to various industries. The results of the research on the degree of the impact of traffic congestion on carbon emissions can be used as a basis for carbon reduction decisions of the traffic sector. The research method of this paper can provide a reference for the study of the equilibrium of traffic congestion and a low-carbon economy in other regions.
