The coal industry plays an important role in the economic development of China, and the performance of the listed coal companies plays a decisive role on the healthy and stable development of the coal industry. Using the method of data envelopment analysis (DEA), the paper made a detailed analysis on three coal companies which have similar size in the two coal provinces, Inner Mongolia and Shanxi. It then put forward suggestions on the sustainable development of Chinese coal industry, and showed the direction and the way for improving the operational efficiency of the industry.

At the beginning of the new century, China’s economic growth accelerated. The demand of coal as a basic energy is keeping increase [1]. With the progress of the mining technology, changed the past low efficiency, backward mode of production, but there are still many adverse factors that restrict to the sustainable development of coal industry in China [2]. Through detailed analysis of the current situation of China coal industry, find out existing problems of Chinese coal industry sustainable development, and using the basic principle [3], to find suitable to Chinese coal industry sustainable development scientific proposition -- Circular Economy [4], using circular economy this scientific model to guide Chinese coal enterprises transformation and development, making Chinese coal enterprises realize sustainable development.

Logistics is an important part in social reproduction; it not only has the physical recycling and energy conversion, but also involves value transfer and value realization. Besides, the logistics involved the economic system and ecological environment system. With resource constraints and environmental problems have become more serious; the sustainable development of logistics enterprise for industry manufacturing has become the focus of the academic community. Based on the concept of sustainable development and data envelopment analysis model, this paper constructs the evaluation index system of sustainable development for logistics enterprise for industry manufacturing, and clears the application process of the model according to the characteristics of its logistics enterprise for industry manufacturing.

Jiaozuo is a typical resource-based city, and its economic transformation has been an example of success in China. However, quantitative evaluation of the city’s development has scarcely been performed, and future development is not clear. Because of this, using the relevant data from 1999 to 2013, this paper uses the data envelopment analysis (DEA) model to evaluate development after the transformation of Jiaozuo with the aim of providing a basis for its future developing plan. The results show that DEA was effective in 2000, 2004, 2006, 2010, and 2012, was weakly effective in 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2013, and was ineffective in 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2011. By evaluating the development of Jiaozuo, this paper provides policy implications for Jiaozuo’s sustainable development, and it may serve as a reference for the sustainable development of China’s other resources-based cities.

The article analyzes the trends of the strategy of sustainable development of coal industry in Kuzbass and the prospects for its development. The main problems connected with the coal enterprises operations are identified, possible ways of their solutions are presented within the framework of the adopted "Strategy for social-and-economic development of the region for the period up to 2035". Having analyzed the program under study, the proposals for its correction or addition in terms of improving the ecology of the region, social-and-economic development, preserving the natural landscape and biogeocenosis were made. The options for transporting coal and increasing the level of coal production technologies in underground mining were proposed. The article provides statistical data on coal mining for the period 2009-2020, and international experience of coal-mining countries. The authors consider the problems of export and transportation of coal, the impact of world prices on coal production. In addition, the authors of the article focus on the legal and legislative consolidation of the main conditions for control and regulation of the subsoil use in Kuzbass, make proposals for its effectiveness, in order to reduce social tension, environmental pollution, reduce the risk of earthquakes, and preserve coal resources for future generations.

Romanian agriculture has a high productive potential owned to the existent agricultural area and to the employed population. The sustainable development of agriculture implies protecting the environment, improving quality of life in the rural area, manufacturing agricultural products based on green principles, but also practicing an efficient and competitive agriculture, based on high economic efficiency. Improving performance and competitiveness targets the efficient use of production factors in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) represents an opportunity to assess the performance of socio-economic systems, necessary to justify decisions to allot resources and to rationally establish the objectives in this sector. This method is used by the paper to show the current sustainable development stage of Romanian agriculture compared to the average level recorded by EU agriculture, which represents a goal for Romania for a medium-term time horizon. DEA confirms the information originated from the analysis of statistical indicators regarding the considerable gap between the performances of Romanian agriculture and the ones of the EU concerning the efficient use of land and labour force. The results of the analysis may serve to justify decisions regarding organizational, technical and economic changes that must be done through the agricultural policy of Romania to increase efficiency and competitiveness in this important sector of the national economy.

O uso de indicadores para avaliar determinado fenômeno tem sido empregado nas mais diversas áreas do conhecimento. Mais recentemente, indicadores têm sido utilizados com o intuito de vencer o desafio quando se discute a questão ambiental, e se busca a harmonia entre o crescimento econômico e a preservação do meio ambiente. Desse modo, o uso de indicadores pode ser o instrumento mais adequado para melhorar a comunicação entre os decisores políticos e a sociedade na discussão de temas complexos sobre os quais há necessidade de um consenso. O objetivo geral deste artigo foi determinar o índice de desenvolvimento sustentável (IDS) de 78 municípios do estado do Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), com a utilização de análise envoltória de dados (DEA), que permite a análise conjunta de diversas variáveis como os indicadores de natureza econômica, social e ambiental. Estes indicadores são os parâmetros do Triple Bottom Line (TBL), que permite avaliar o nível de sustentabilidade de cada município de modo multicriterial. Na determinação dos IDS foram utilizados dados secundários de diversos órgãos públicos no MS.  Como resultado geral, pode-se identificar e hierarquizar as cidades com melhores desempenhos em cada dimensão e também quando em conjunto. Foi possível identificar que os municípios com melhores índices de desenvolvimento econômico apresentaram menor qualidade ambiental e social, e os menos desenvolvidos encontram-se mais preservados. De modo semelhante, também foi analisado o desenvolvimento sustentável nas mesorregiões no estado do MS, com a mesorregião leste apresentando o melhor índice de desenvolvimento sustentável.  The use of indicators to evaluate a given phenomenon has been used in several areas of knowledge. More recently, indicators have been used to overcome the challenge when discussing the environmental issue, and seek harmony between economic growth and preservation of the environment. In this way, indicators can be the most appropriate instrument for improving communication between policy makers and society in discussing complex issues on which consensus is needed. The general objective of this article was to determine the sustainable development index (IDS) of 78 municipalities in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), using data envelopment analysis (DEA), which allows the joint analysis of several variables as Indicators of economic, social and environmental nature. These indicators are the parameters of the Triple Bottom Line (TBL), which allows assessing the level of sustainability of each municipality in a multi-criteria way. In the determination of IDS, secondary data from several public agencies in the MS were used. As a general result, one can identify and rank cities with better performance in each dimension and also when together. It was possible to identify that the municipalities with the best economic development indices presented lower environmental and social quality, and the less developed ones are more preserved. Similarly, sustainable development was also analyzed in mesoregions in the MS state, with the eastern mesoregion presenting the best index of sustainable development. Keywords: environment, sustainable development, local indicators, Mato Grosso do Sul.

In this paper, the indexes that are used to assess the influence of road construction on Inner Mongolia grassland have been proposed based on the environment protection perspective. The Analytic hierarchy process was employed to evaluate the importance of different indexes regarding to influence. These indexes would be used to provide information for decision making about road construction in order to achieve the sustainable development of grassland.

Inner Mongolia region is vast, and developable wind resource accounts for 50%. However, wind power grid has become the local wind development's main bottleneck. Therefore, studying the sustainability of wind power in this region has very important significance. This article from aspects of resource conditions, economic growth, wind power transmission, technical strength and policy environment analyzes the sustainability of Inner Mongolia wind power generation, then draws the conclusion that the bottleneck problem is expected to be solved and the sustainable development is expected to be realized.
