Process mining is helpful for deploying new business processes as well as auditing, analyzing and improving the already enacted ones. The business process system log often has a large number of the namesake task and repetitive task. The existing alpha algorithm of the mining algorithm cannot distinguish them very well. It leads to the results that the process mining often produce inaccurate flow model. In order to improve the accuracy of the process mining, the paper puts forward an improved method. The new method not only can dig the complex structure, such as circulation structure, free choice structure and so on, it still can dig the eponymous task and repeat task in the log.

Process mining is helpful for deploying new business processes as well as auditing, analyzing and improving the already enacted ones. This paper summarizes the scholars’ main studies in workflow mining, introduces the modeling process of two different kinds of mining algorithms in detail, compares and analyzes their performances, and explains the modeling process with an actual example.

The refined process mining framework contains a set of activities that use extracted information from event logs, discovered models and normative ones. Among these activities, we find those dealing with running events in a Structured Business Process (SBP) context, which are the Detect, the Predict and the Recommend activities. These three activities are nominated as an operational support system that aims at detecting deviations, predicting events and recommending actions. In this regard, operational support systems perform well on SBP while, it stills a challenging task for an Unstructured Business Process (UBP). This puts forward the difficulty of predicting events and recommending actions for UBP, because of its complex structure. In this context, simplification and structuring operations must be applied. Therefore, the intervention of other process mining activities is required for business process simplification and structuring. To this end, we present an operational support approach dealing with UBP, using the refined process mining framework activities.

The article proposes a methodology for assessing the innovative activity of a company, one of the areas of values of state corporations: «Innovation, innovative development, the ability to upgrade». To evaluate the effectiveness, the principle of decomposition of a global goal was used with its replacement for individual specific tasks according to the designated functional subsystems and objects (blocks) of assessment, which together give a generalized description of technological, technical innovations, their development and use, implementation of the latest digital information technologies, results intellectual research, the development of new business processes, management methods, organizational forms in business practice, as well as ability to sustainable renovation, improvement and prospects for innovative growth of the company and its sustainable renewal.The scoring methodology using the developed criteria boundaries of efficiency from ambitious to low efficiency and with assignment of significance scales by expert means involves the inclusion in each assessment block of six to fifteen traditional and composite author’s indicators, the complexity of which is determined by the complexity of the subject of the study and the described process. The methodology is universal in nature, can be used for large corporations and small companies according to a reduced set of indicators, it can be used in determining ratings.

For exploitation and extraction of an event’s data that has vital information which is related to the process from the event log, process mining is used. There are three main basic types of process mining as explained in relation to input and output. These are process discovery, conformance checking, and enhancement. Process discovery is one of the most challenging process mining activities based on the event log. Business processes or system performance plays a vital role in modelling, analysis, and prediction. Recently, a memoryless model such as exponential distribution of the stochastic Petri net SPN has gained much attention in research and industry. This paper uses time perspective for modelling and analysis and uses stochastic Petri net to check the performance, evolution, stability, and reliability of the model. To assess the effect of time delay in firing the transition, stochastic reward net SRN model is used. The model can also be used in checking the reliability of the model, whereas the generalized stochastic Petri net GSPN is used for evaluation and checking the performance of the model. SPN is used to analyze the probability of state transition and the stability from one state to another. However, in process mining, logs are used by linking log sequence with the state and, by this, modelling can be done, and its relation with stability of the model can be established.

<p>Communication has never been more accessible than today. With the help of Instant messengers and Email Services, millions of people can transfer information with ease, and this trend has affected organizations as well. There are billions of organizational emails sent or received daily, and their main goal is to facilitate the daily operation of organizations. Behind this vast corpus of human-generated content, there is much implicit information that can be mined and used to improve or optimize the organizations’ operations. Business processes are one of those implicit knowledge areas that can be discovered from Email logs of an Organization, as most of the communications are followed inside Emails. The purpose of this research is to propose an approach to discover the process models in the Email log. In this approach, we combine two tools, supervised machine learning and process mining. With the help of supervised machine learning, fastText classifier, we classify the body text of emails to the activity-related. Then the generated log will be mined with process mining techniques to find process models. We illustrate the approach with a case study company from the oil and gas sector.</p>

The Semantics of Business Vocabulary and Rules (SBVR) standard was developed by the Object Management Group (OMG) for business purposes. SBVR is used for transformation of business vocabulary and business rules into business processes. Gateways are used for regulating the divergence and convergence of flow objects in the business process. The existing business rules in SVBR do not support all gateways in BPMN, whereas there are conditions where branching situations in business rules occur. This article introduces parallelism rules (OR rules) and complex rules to increase 50.6% usage of the existing AND rules and XOR rules in SBVR. The main contribution of this research is to introduce new formal model of inclusive gateway (OR) and complex gateway that allow parallelism and branching to be modeled using SBVR. Thus, this study increases coverage of the usage gateway in SBVR achieved 66.7%. The authors provide branching cases with various levels of complexity, i.e. nested conditions and non-free choice conditions, using the formal description of SBVR.

Recent COVID pandemic situation, Organizations are willing to digitalize their environment without losing business. Digital technologies help to improve their capabilities to transform processes that intern promote new business models. Applications cannot remain static and should modernize to meet the evolving business and technology needs. Business needs time to market, Agility, and reduce technical debt. Technology needs consist of APIs, better Security, Portability, Scalability, Cloud support, Deployment, Automation, and Integration. This paper elaborates different transformation/modernization approaches for Legacy systems written in very long or End of Life (EOL) systems to newer digital technologies to serve the business needs. EOL impacts application production, supportability, compliance, and security. Organizations spend money and resources on Digital Transformation for considering Investment versus Return on Investment, Agility of the System, and improved business processes. Migration and Modernization are critical for any Legacy Digital Transformation. Management takes decisions to proceed with Digital Transformation for considering Total Cost Ownership (TCO) and Return on Investment (ROI) of the program. The paper also includes a TCO-ROI calculator for Transformation from Legacy / Monolithic to new architectures like Microservices.

This paper reports on a quasi-experimental field study in which business process redesign groups in four different US organizations used two different business process representation types. One of the representation types emphasized an activity flow (or workflow) view of business processes, which appears to currently be the most prevalent in actual operational-level business process redesign projects; the other emphasized a communication flow view. The study suggests that, contrary to assumptions likely underlying most of the current business process redesign practice, communication flow-oriented representations of business processes are perceived by those involved in their redesign as significantly more useful in the following aspects than activity flow-oriented representations: identification of opportunities for process improvement, application of process redesign guidelines, visualization of process changes, and development of generic information technology solutions to implement new business processes. Important implications for managers and researchers stemming from these results are discussed.
