Need Analysis for the Integration of Digital Tools for Teaching, Learning and Assessment of the Welders

This paper aims to identify the needs for updating the European Welder Training Guideline in order to introduce chapters for new digital innovative tools that can be used both in theoretical and practical training of welders. The objective of the revision of curriculum in the context of digital tools is to boost the digital skills of trainers, both youngsters (I-VET) and older personnel seeking further training (C-VET), thus targeting the issues raised during COVID-19 pandemic crisis as well as to increase the attractiveness of secondary/vocational schools and innovativeness of learning programmes. The paper present a research among VET school teachers for identify in what extent the new theoretical and practical digital tools can be implemented in order to increase the level of digital competences of the teachers as well as digital and professional competences of the learners.

AbstractThe objective of this study is to examine the factors that influence teachers’ acceptance of digital tools for undertaking distance teaching during the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on the variables of the technology acceptance model, we have conducted interviews with 15 secondary school teachers with varying degrees of professional experiences and combinations of subjects, from the federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg in Germany and analyzed the same. The results indicate that, other than user motivation, three areas, namely “regulations and specifications,” “technological infrastructure,” and “heterogeneity of students and teachers,” affect the adoption of digital tools. The Covid-19 pandemic, which inevitably led teachers to embrace digital tools, positively influenced the perception and immediate usefulness of digital tools. We assert that no other variable would have been able to universally influence technology usage and acceptance to such an extent as to replicate the findings of our study and simultaneously highlight the uniqueness of the current situation and the necessity for examining its impact.

An analysis is presented in this study that provides insight into a practical training process and its impact on teachers and their viewpoints toward the integrated STEM approach used in that training process, together with educational coding and robotics, over the first years of compulsory primary education, where STEM implementations are relatively new. A case study was developed by two teachers following the practical training course, including pre- and post-interviews and nonparticipative observation of their classroom practices during the teacher-training sessions. The results revealed the positive perspectives that the teachers held toward the STEM-integrated approach and educational coding and robotics, despite the difficulties that arose in classroom practice. It was concluded that the STEM approach and its methods were beneficial both to pupils and to teachers alike for improving the teaching–learning process.

Corporal Punishment yields negative impact on the behaviors of students and thus their learning achievements remain lower. Sometime, in a particular situation, students’ exhibit relatively better results but they actually get fed up with the learning enrolment and intrinsically intend to go away from teaching learning process. This study was under taken to get the opinion of primary school teachers and their practical behaviors towards corporal punishment at primary level in the Govt. Schools of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. In order to collect data, a questionnaire containing 35 questions was developed in Urdu for seeking opinion of primary school teachers. The questionnaire had two parts; the first part pertained to information about different aspects related to the classroom situation while the second part contained an open-ended question asking for suggestions.  Stratified random sample technique was used but only those school were selected which were willing to respond and easy to approach.  Data collected through questionnaire were tabulated and analyzed.  Although difference of opinion was found among the teachers on all issues yet an overall majority opined that corporal punishment must not be there as it was the greatest negative variable for creating a conducive environment for teaching learning process. New Zealand primary school teachers are expected to regularly reflect on their teaching practice in order to consider the implications of past teaching on future planning. Aligned to teachers’ ongoing reflection, the New Zealand Curriculum (Ministry of Education, 2007) contains a section on effective pedagogy—teacher actions promoting student learning, which includes a Teaching as Inquiry Cycle (pp. 34–35). Embedded within their inquiry, teachers consider the teaching-learning relationship and often turn to frameworks of knowledge for guidance. This article shares the implications of using a framework of teacher knowledge in research. While the framework used contained much detail for the researcher, it overlapped categories and at the same time lacked acknowledgement of some important concepts for teachers in classroom practice. Findings from using a framework in this research were combined with findings from previous research to formulate the Wheel of Professional Knowledge, which was developed for mathematics teachers to use when reflecting on their practice.

Community service activities are focused on the problem of enriching the understanding and practice of making governance a simple garden, edu-garden, which can be done by the students of primary school in Medan city rural areas, with the conditions of the lack of urban green areas as well as the mandate of the national education, 2013 to make education sustainable environment-based vocational called as Adiwiyata school. Partnering with school teachers MIS Al Hidayah Medan Johor and Medan Selayang, be forming edu-garden as an alternative to the procurement of the garden utilizing household waste. Minimal conditions to the availability of land recycling infrastructure can be used for urban green movement through practical training programs edu-garden forming by utilizing waste for gardening activities. The result is the creation of edu-garden forming by teachers and students as teaching materials module based educational environment. The results of the simulation training and edu-garden forming this a viable alternative layout creation of urban green neighborhoods in order to achieve environmental health and public welfare.
