Practical Design for Energy-Saving EDM Supply System

In this paper a kind of architecture for an energy-saving EDM supply composed of three serial stages in the topology and its practical design are discussed. Various special controllers and its assisted circuits are introduced in the each of the three serial stages. The PFC controller UC3854 placed on the front stage provides satisfactory input power factor of the system. The PWM controller UC3875 mounted on the middle stage realize the closed control of the current of the inductance limiting machining current. An embedded controller PIC16F877 on the final stage is chosen to setting such machining variables as peak current, discharge duration and pulse interval. The communication with host PC is also realized by the same embedded controller. The architecture based on model of multi-controller parallel working guarantees capacity of the system real-time process. The prototype of the energy-saving EDM pulse supply using MOSFET power device is developed. A lot of experiments have demonstrated the feasibility and stability of the practical design.

The aim of the work is to confirm the possibility of creating an energy-saving heat supply system for power facilities by using computer modelling, analysis of the potential use of heat losses of electromagnetic energy in magnetic circuits and windings of transformers of substations, as well as the development of schemes for heat recovery losses for heat supply of power facilities. Computer simulation of electromagnetic and thermophysical processes in the power oil-filled transformer is carried out. Energy losses in windings, hysteresis and eddy currents in the magnetic circuit, as well as temperature and heat flux fields in the longitudinal and transverse sections of the oil-filled power transformer in idle and short-circuit modes were determined. The transformer performance in terms of heat recovery losses was evaluated. The possible volumes of heat extraction for heat supply depending on the power of the transformer are determined. The automated oil-water system of heat recovery of the transformer for heating of electric power facilities is proposed. The significance of the obtained results for the construction industry is to confirm the possibility of creating an energy-saving heat supply system for electric power facilities while maintaining the operational characteristics of the transformer based on computer modelling; the significant potential of using the heat loss of power transformers of substations is shown, an automated heat supply system for electric power facilities is proposed.

To achieve a 50% worldwide reduction of CO2by the middle of this century, development of energy saving power device technology using wide bandgap materials is urgently needed. Diamond is receiving increasing attention as a next generation material for wide bandgap semiconductors owing to its extreme characteristics. Research studies investigating large wafers, low resistivity, and low dislocation have accelerated. This study targets the use of wafers for power electronics applications, and the required machining technologies for diamond, including wafer shaping, slicing, and surface finishing, are introduced.

In order to prolong continuous working time of one transmission line inspection robot, a power supply system with induction charging unit for this inspection robot is introduced in this paper. Special current transformer by which the robot could get power from power line is designed according to the magnetic field condition around the transmission line. Besides, charging circuit for Li-battery pack is also introduced. A fly-back circuit is applied in the circuit to provide precisely accessible input power for charging battery packs. Experimental results show that the power supply system could have good performance on extending the continuous working period of the transmission line inspection robot.

According to operation situation of power plant’s EP, the technical measures of energy saving in low-voltage power supply system have been analyzed over the years. Based on the classical theory of electrostatic precipitator and the operating status quo of EP, the paper has been focused on the principles of energy-saving and emission-reduction EP, established high-voltage current supply energy-saving and emission-reduction EP dust removal efficiency of mathematical models, analyzed energy saving and emission reduction technical measures of the low voltage device and proposed the technical solutions. It provided reference for design, adjustment, operation and energy saving of power plant’s EP.

More and more attentions have been paid on ice-storage low temperature air supply system because of its notable energy saving effects and comfort. The paper expatiate on that ice-storage low temperature air supply system brings a series of especial superiority to modern air-condition cause. The results show that low temperature air supply system can exert the potential advantage of ice-storage further. The combination of ice-storage and low temperature air supply system can obtain an “integrated approach”, which can save energy resources and improve human body comfort and indoor air quality.
