The present paper deals with the principles of process technology for concrete-polymer composites, the research and development history of the concrete-polymer composites, the recent trends in the research and development of the concrete-polymer composites and the present status of major standardization work for the concrete-polymer composites, on the basis of comprehensive literature survey. The future trends in the research and development of the concrete-polymer composites are predicted, and sustainable concrete-polymer composites are proposed for the 21st century.

The past decade has seen a resurgence of interest in understanding Indian business history. A number of business history books have been published in the academic and nonacademic press. Special issues on India have appeared in leading field journals, more management schools in India and outside are engaging with the field, internship and fellowship opportunities have been initiated, and business archives have sprung up. This article documents these recent trends, examines the emerging scholarship, and identifies gaps that need to be addressed in the future.

This research aims to reconstruct the history of human culture, and the depiction of alteration process of man’s culture in the past as well as contribute data about development history of figurine art, particuarly figurine with siva characteristic in Denpasar. Data were collected using observation, interview, and literature study method and were analyzed using qualitative analysis and iconography. The research result shows that figurines with siva characteristic in Denpasar distributed in ten sanctuaries. The types of siva character figurine are Durga, Ganesha, linga yoni, linga, yoni, holy priest, and nandi. Up to now those figurines are still functioned by the people for religious activities and as media to connect with God Almighty. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merekonstruksi sejarah kebudayaan manusia masa lampau, dan penggambaran proses perubahan budaya manusia masa lampau, serta memberikan sumbangan data mengenai sejarah perkembangan seni arca, khususnya yang bercorak Siwaistis di Kota Denpasar. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara, dan studi kepustakaan dan dianalisis menggunakan analisis kualitatif dan ikonografi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa arca bercorak Siwaistis di Kota Denpasar tersebar pada 10 tempat suci. Jenis arca bercorak Siwaistis yang ditemukan seperti arca Dewi Durga, arca Ganesha, lingga yoni, lingga, yoni, arca pendeta, dan arca Nandi. Sampai saat ini arca-arca tersebut masih difungsikan dan dimanfaatkan untuk kegiatan keagamaan sekaligus sebagai media untuk menghubungkan diri kepada Tuhan Yang Maha Esa.

The hematology care, research, and development in West Bengal had a glorious past. Dr. J.B. Chatterjea represented the pioneers in hematology practice and research from Calcutta, West Bengal. Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine (CSTM) is considered as the birthplace of Hematology not only in India but also in whole of Asia. Dr. J.B. Chatterjea single handedly took the Hematology Department to a new height and made it a center for learning and advanced research in hematology. Subsequently, many of his able disciples spread out elsewhere in the country expanding the mission of research in hematology. The tragic untimely death of Dr. Chatterjea in 1972 was an irreparable loss to the development of hematology in this country. The glory and glamor of hematology care and research in West Bengal faded way over time. In the recent years, with the establishment of new hematology care and research units at other Government Medical Colleges, private sectors and enormous contributions from the basic scientists have helped to rescue the lost glory and shaping the present day comprehensive hematology care and research in West Bengal, India. In this brief review, the present author tries to give an overview of the past and present of hematology care and research in West Bengal and the author in the present review does not claim to have described every bit of hematology development in this part of the country.

Background: As the quick development of modern methods and technologies currently, more and more drugs have been invented with a better efficiency. However, the poor water solubility has limited the drugs’ pharmaceutical application. Methods: Tremendous research has been put in the design and development of nanocrystals for pharmaceutical applications over the past few decades. The nanocrystals not only have the chance to solve the poor solubility problem, but also could conquer the bioavailability and even the specific delivery problems. The physical properties of drugs can be changed dramatically due to the change of their size in a nanodimension. Therefore, the nanocrystals have great potential to overcome the challenge to design and development of new drugs for pharmaceutical applications. Results: In this review, we provide an overview of the recent trends in nanocrystals for pharmaceutical applications. Conclusion: The current technologies including top-down, bottom-up, and combinative technologies for nanocrystals were fully examined. Most importantly, the emphasis is put on the pharmaceutical applications including their formulation, administration methods, safety, and toxicity. The commercial status, limitations, challenges, and future trends of the nanocrystals for pharmaceutical applications were also discussed.

Sustainable development as the leading civilization idea, and nanotechnology as the contemporary wave of technology significantly affecting the society, are brought together in this paper. A brief history of sustainability implementation from the start concept until European Construction Product Regulation is presented. The extended definitions of sustainable construction and sustainable material are analysed with adequate conclusions towards Concrete. The category of Exergy is implemented as a measure for “natural environmentally-friendly” meaning. The generalised concrete development curve is presented with discussion of Well Defined Concrete Performance. The statement that the sustainability is necessity for concrete and the nanotechnology is the chance for the future of concrete polymer composite is the final conclusion of the paper.

The article concerns dynamic aspects of scientific discourse understood as a domain of communication subject to cultural influences. The problem, inspired by Michel Foucault’s concept of archaeology of scientific reason, is presented through the ex- ample of alchemy, a specific phenomenon co-creating a scientific discourse both in the past and in the present. The relation of science with its discursive aspect (in various ways) with the past, and thus also with memory is undeniable, no matter how you consider the issue. This relation also affects the perception of science as such and scientific discourses, which is still an interesting field of observation. The discourse(s) on alchemy and its very status in the universe of communication confirm the dynamics of science and the discourses belonging to or co-constituting it, but in no way do they confirm the thesis of the teleological (in the sense of improving development) history of communication, including scientific communication.
