In this paper, the effect of sintering temperature on microstructure and donor solid solubility of Nb-doped TiO2 varistor ceramic is investigated. SEM and EDXS were carried out to study the microstructure and chemical compositions of TiO2 grain. The results show that the TiO2 sample sintered at 1350°C have better microstructure and properties. The grains size of the TiO2 sample is about 15μm and solid solubility of donor Nb 5+ cation solute in TiO2 grains is 1.49mol%.

The effects of sintering temperature on microstructure, micro-composition, barrier structure and electrical properties of TiO2 varistors ceramics were investigated. The microstructures and chemical compositions of grains in TiO2 ceramics were measured by SEM and EDS. Based on the thermo electronic emission theory, Grain boundaries barrier structure was calculated by analyzing electrical properties of samples. The sample sintered at 1350°C exhibits better microstructure and properties. The grains size of the TiO2 sample sintered at 1350°C is about 15m, and other electrical properties are as follows: solid solubility of donor doping Nb5+ cation solute in TiO2 grains of 1.49mol%, barriers height of 0.28ev, barriers width of 48nm, varistor voltages of 5.25V/mm, non-linear coefficient of 4.2 and relative dielectric constant of 1.1×104.

Calcium borosilicate (CaO-B2O3-SiO2, CBS) glass based glass-ceramic composites were prepared by introducing borosilicate glass. The effects of borosilicate glass and firing temperature on the microstructure and properties of the glass-ceramic composites were investigated. The results showed that the composites containing 0~40% (in mass fraction, the same below) borosilicate glass can be sintered at 850°C. The dielectric constant (εr) decreases with the increase of borosilicate glass content and can be adjusted in the range of 5.6~6.6. The coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) increases with the increase of borosilicate glass content. Increasing sintering temperature favors the precipitations of crystal phases, which have lower εr than CBS glass, resulting in the decrease of εr for the composites.

The present study investigated the effect of the sintering temperature and (Y2O3, V2O5) co-doping on the performance of TiO2 varistor ceramic which has lower varistor voltage and high nonlinear coefficient. The results showed that the TiO2-based varistor ceramic which doped with 0.35% mol and 0.25% mol of Y2O3 and V2O5 has good comprehensive electrical performance and excellent dielectric constant sintered at 1200°C. Its varistor voltage V1mA is 38.1V, nonlinear coefficient is 4.6.

This paper presents the results of density measurements carried out on Alumix sintered parts. ECKA Alumix aluminium powders were used because of their wide application in the powder metallurgy industry. The compacts were produced using a wide range of compaction pressures for three different chemical compositions. The compacts were then sintered under a pure dry nitrogen atmosphere at three different temperatures. The heating and cooling rates were the same throughout the entire test. The results showed that the green density increases with compaction pressure, but that sintered density is independent of green density (compaction pressure) for each sintering temperature.

VC/Fe composite samples were fabricated by sintering at 1050, 1100 and 1150°C in vacuum. The microstructure and mechanical properties of samples were examined, and the relationship of structure and mechanical properties for VC/Fe composite sintered at different temperature were studied. The results show that fracture toughness, hardness and density is increasing obviously at 1050-1100°Cwith the increasing sintering temperature, but the growth trend increases slowly at 1100-1150°C; in whole process with temperature increased, Flexure strength heighten trend obviously. The microstructure of VC/Fe composite changed from particles piled up together to the microstructure particles closely, VC particles set gradually into Fe with temperature increased, and the gap reduced gradually.
