AbstractChange mode and effects analysis (CMEA) is a powerful technique for measuring product flexibility toward future changes and diminishing the cost of redesign as well as shortening time to market. As a systematic methodology, it provides an in-depth view for the investigation of potential changes, causes, and effects in designs, products, and processes. Traditional CMEA determines the risk priorities of change modes by using change potential number, which requires the risk factors of design flexibility, occurrence, and readiness to be precisely evaluated. However, this is not always possible in real applications due to the uncertainty and subjectivity involved in the early design stages. It has been criticized much for its deficiencies in criteria weighting of the risk factors, change potential number calculation, and risk priorities determination of the change modes. This paper presents a systematic evaluation approach for determining a more rational rank of change modes by combining with the entropy weight method, rough number, and grey relational analysis. In this study, the entropy weight method is adopted to calculate the relative importance of risk factors. Rough number is presented to aggregate individual weights and preferences, and to manipulate the vagueness in the evaluation process. Then a rough number enhanced grey relational analysis is proposed to evaluate the risk ranking of change modes. Finally, a practical example is put forward to validate the performance of the proposed method. The result shows that the proposed change mode evaluation method can effectively overcome the shortcomings of traditional CMEA and strengthen the objectivity of product flexibility measurement.

In recent years, various large- and medium-sized shopping malls have been essential components of each city with the speed-up of China’s urbanization process and the improvement of residents’ living standard. A method for evaluating fire risk in shopping malls based on quantified safety checklist and structure entropy weight method was proposed according to related literatures as well as laws and regulations by analyzing the characteristics of fires occurring in shopping malls in recent years. At first, the factors influencing the fire risk in shopping malls were determined by carrying out on-site survey and visiting related organizations to construct an evaluation index system for fires occurring in shopping malls; afterwards, a quantified safety checklist composed of four parts (i.e. safety grade, grade description, scoring criterion and index quantification) was established based on related laws and regulations; subsequently, index weights were determined by utilizing structure entropy weight method, thus putting forward a method for assessing fire risk in shopping malls based on quantified safety checklist and structure entropy weight method. Eventually, the applicability of the evaluation method was validated exampled by Wal-Mart. The research result provides a theoretical basis for further improvement of the theoretical system for fire risk evaluation in shopping malls, and also exerts practical and guidance significance on timeous and effective early warning as well as prevention and control of building fires.

Abstract Partial destructive disassembly (PDD) is essential for end-of-life products to improve their automatic disassembly efficiency and reduce disassembly cost. A feasibility evaluation of the PDD is the key step to evaluate whether the PDD can be implemented. However, it has not been studied previously to our knowledge. To deal with this problem, a multi-granularity feasibility evaluation method is proposed. A multi-granularity feasibility evaluation model of the PDD was constructed based on the complex product’s hierarchical structure, which not only described the evaluation indices from the product level to the component level but also presented methods and rules to quantify them. 1Thus, disassembly entropy was introduced into the target group’s coarse granularity evaluation. The feasibility of the fine-grained index of the PDD for the component layer was constructed based on the product’s failure characteristic. The fine-grained index was calculated by the fuzzy trigonometric function and its weighting was obtained based on the structure entropy weight method. Thus, the results of the evaluation were used as feedback to guide the PDD process. Finally, a Passat engine case study illustrates the feasibility and effectiveness of the method.

In order to evaluate coaches, this paper established the model of comprehensive evaluation based on analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Firstly, I establish the hierarchical structure of the system; Secondly, for researching the influence of time line horizon in analysis, I divided coaches into several groups by their career time and calculated the weights of indicators of each group using entropy weight method; Finally, calculate the weight between the criteria layer and objective layer. Female coach data is difficult to find, so I select 100 college basketball male coach data. Put the data into model and get a score. The score showed the final result which can give us a sort of reasonable coach list. This model can reduce the influence of different time periods for evaluation of the coach.

For getting an objective assessment of product quality efficiently, the comprehensive evaluation method of generalized product quality was used to evaluate products. At the same time, the index weights were determined by entropy weight method. Taking air screener as example in this paper, we used the comprehensive evaluation method of generalized product quality which was based on entropy weight method to evaluate many types of air screeners and used the software which was made with VB to calculate the data, it made the evaluation process more objective and reliable. The result which was got with this method provided the scientific basis for users to choose the products and for companies to improve the product's quality.

In the past decades, despite considerable attention having been paid to third-party logistics (3PL) owing to its specialized service, sophisticated operation, and reduced cost, research on quantitative methods for estimating the efficiency of 3PL companies is still lacking, especially for those with small or medium scale. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to establish a quantitative evaluation method to measure the efficiency of the individual nongovernmental 3PL firms and explore the valuable information for the management of 3PL business with Apriori and K-means. Taking TopChains (an emerging nongovernmental 3PL company) as an example, the monthly supply and demand (S&D) level and matching degree were evaluated via the integrating data mining algorithm (i.e., Apriori and K-means) and TOPSIS entropy weight method based on historical data. The findings demonstrate that the S&D level varied with time and space, and the customer demand in February tended to reduce substantially. Besides, the outcome of S&D matching degree in June is undesirable, indicating the unsatisfactory efficiency in resource management. The evaluation maneuver stated in this study can serve as a valuable tool to measure individual nongovernmental 3PL enterprises’ efficiency in terms of S&D, and for reference, the results can aid in rational enterprise investment plan. Besides, this attempt broadened the direction of ARM and K-means being applied in the logistics field.
