Since application of integrated energy systems (IESs) has formed a markedly increasing trend recently, selecting an appropriate integrated energy system construction scheme becomes essential to the energy supplier. This paper aims to develop a multi-criteria decision-making model for the evaluation and selection of an IES construction scheme equipped with smart energy management and control platform. Firstly, a comprehensive evaluation criteria system including economy, energy, environment, technology and service is established. The evaluation criteria system is divided into quantitative criteria denoted by interval numbers and qualitative criteria. Secondly, single-valued neutrosophic numbers are adopted to denote the qualitative criteria in the evaluation criteria system. Thirdly, in order to accommodate mixed data types consisting of both interval numbers and single-valued neutrosophic numbers, the TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution) method is extended into a three-stage technique by introducing a fusion coefficient μ. Then, a real case in China is evaluated through applying the proposed method. Furthermore, a comprehensive discussion is made to analyze the evaluation result and verify the reliability and stability of the method. In short, this study provides a useful tool for the energy supplier to evaluate and select a preferred IES construction scheme.

"This work presents a simulated study of the energy management of an energy system connected to the grid with photovoltaic generation and battery storage. The work proposes a energy management system based on fuzzy logic. It is intended to be used in the hotel industry. The objective of the proposed controller is to maximise the renewable power source but including also economic criteria in the management. The proposal was implemented in simulation considering a 5,1kW peak photovoltaic installation and a set of batteries with a capacity of 384Ah. First results obtained show that the system achieves the specifications proposed. Thus, the study evidences the potential of the proposed control algorithm and demonstrate the suitability of the use of intelligent techniques for the energy management in hotels."

This paper deals with design optimisation of hydraulic hybrid drivelines during early concept design phases. To set the design parameters of a hybrid driveline such as gear ratios, pump/motor displacements and size of energy storage, the energy management of the hybrid machine needs to be considered as well. This is problematic since a nested design and control optimisation normally requires substantial computer power and is time-consuming. Few previous studies have treated combined design and control optimisation of hydraulic hybrid vehicles using detailed, non-linear component driveline models. Furthermore, previously proposed design optimisation methods for on-road vehicles are not suitable for heavy off-road machines operating in short repetitive cycles with high transient power output. The paper demonstrates and compares different optimisation approaches for design and control optimisation combining deterministic dynamic programming and non-gradient based numerical optimisation. The results show that a simple rule-based energy management strategy can be sufficient to find the optimal hardware design even though non-optimal control laws are used.

Two types of coronary artery system N-type and S-type, are investigated. The threshold conditions for the occurrence of Smale horseshoe chaos are obtained by using Melnikov method. Numerical simulations including phase portraits, potential diagram, homoclinic bifurcation curve diagrams, bifurcation diagrams, and Poincaré maps not only prove the correctness of theoretical analysis but also show the interesting bifurcation diagrams and the more new complex dynamical behaviors. Numerical simulations are used to investigate the nonlinear dynamical characteristics and complexity of the two systems, revealing bifurcation forms and the road leading to chaotic motion. Finally the chaotic states of the two systems are effectively controlled by two control methods: variable feedback control and coupled feedback control.

The growth in world trade and hence the demand for shipping is expected to continue into the 1980s despite the present temporary recession. Many countries in the Mediterranean and Pacific area and in South and Central America see shipbuilding as their way to start along the road to industrial development, and will be favoured by good climatic and labour conditions which can now be joined to imported modern technology. Conventional shipbuilding will therefore grow rapidly in these countries. Western countries will be able to preserve their shipbuilding industries by keeping in the forefront ol technical development and by a rigorous examination of designs from the production point of view, in order to reduce the labour content, and make the management and control simpler. This means changing from a largely labour intensive craft industry to a capital intensive, manufacturing industry. In order to sustain this type of industry long runs of similar ships, standard components, modulai constructions much of it in production lines, using group technology, will be the pattern in the 1980s. Much research and development is already devoted to these techniques and the industry is already at the early stages of changing over to this type of working.
