This study was an exploration of educators’ perceptions towards the adoption of Education 5.0 which was conducted at a state University in Zimbabwe. Education 5.0 is a new curriculum reform that would need a buy-in of educators for possible smooth implementation. The study revealed that educators perceived Education 5.0 as a helpful and more beneficial to the education system than the preceding Education 3.0 although they bemoaned lack of infrastructure and financial resources for proper implementation. The study recommended that the University administrators should source funding from business partners and banks to build physical infrastructures such as industrial parks and innovation hubs to support Education 5.0 adoption. The study also recommended that the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development conduct seminars with educators to address sticky issues regarding Education 5.0, since educators are directly involved in its implementation.

In his interview, the Rector of Voronezh State University highlights the milestones of VSU’s history and its achievements during the centennial  working experience. The history of Voronezh State University goes back to  1918, when the staff and students of Yuriev (former Derpt) University moved to Voronezh owing to the German occupation of Estonia. Today Voronezh  State University is one of most renowned universities in Russia, the largest  research university in the Central Black Earth Region. Its world  competitiveness can be demonstrated by the fact that VSU is listed among  the top universities in international and national rankings such as  Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking, Times Higher  Education (THE) World University Ranking, Interfax, Rating of Russian  universities. The advanced forms of interaction between University and  business partners and enterprises were described, such as centers of  corporate training (VSU has more than 10) and corporate postgraduate  courses (cooperation with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Bionorica SE and  others). The University is piloting the convergent educational programs, e.g. “Medical cybernetics”, mathematical modeling in pharmaceutical studies,  experimental technical school for gifted children.

The study sought to investigate on the effectiveness of approaches used in addressing depression among young adults at teachers’ colleges in Zimbabwe. The study adopted the post-positivism paradigm where a mixed approach was used through questionnaire and interview schedule as means of data collection. The sample consisted of 206 participants drawn from 180 students, two vice principal, two deans of students, 13 heads of departments, one chaplain and eight counsellors. While quantitative data was coded and analysed by the use of tables with frequencies and percentages, qualitative data was analysed through the thematic approach. The study concludes that cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral therapy and person centered therapy are used to address depression cases in Zimbabwean teachers’ colleges. The specific techniques which were commonly used include guided discovery, role play, cognitive restructuring, relaxation and visualization, exposure and person centered. The study therefore recommends that the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development and other stakeholders should come up with a policy which spells out expected counselling approaches and techniques to be used at the colleges to address the depression of students. The study further recommends the provision of more trained counselling personnel for the identified approaches to be effective in addressing depression.

Tertiary education is increasingly a contested space where advances in Information Communications Technologies and their application to technology-mediated e-learning environments have forced university administrators and educators to dislocate themselves from traditional correspondence modes of student engagement. Compounding this paradigmatic shift within the traditional sphere of distance education pedagogy are multiple and conflicting pressures on academics to develop flexible, engaging, cost-effective and sustainable interactive learning resources that incorporate both multimedia and hypermedia. This chapter reports on a study that examined factors that influence educators’ decision to adopt and integrate educational technology and convert traditional print-based distance education materials into interactive multimodal e-learning formats. Although the broader study was conducted in a single Australian university and investigated pedagogical, institutional and individual factors, this chapter restricts its focus to solely the pedagogical motivations and concerns of educators. It is argued that findings from the study have significance at the institutional level, particularly in terms of developing an underlying pedagogical rationale that can permeate the e-learning culture throughout the university, while at the same time, providing a roadmap for educators who are yet to fully engage with the e-learning format.

To enable pre-service teachers acquire certain teaching skills, well-planned educational programs and well-trained teachers are needed to implement them. Indeed, teacher education institutions hold a major responsibility in training qualified pre-service teachers, as it is essential for the welfare of a country and securing the quality of all educational levels from primary to tertiary education. To determine the level of teaching skills, a qualitative descriptive method was used with 96 pre-service teachers. The study adopted and modified a scale according to the needs of the study and validated by experts. The present study found that the pre-service teachers of Bukidnon State University (BukSU) generally are prepared for classroom work as revealed in the results of their internship in the laboratory school (which serves as the training ground where the education students of the University have their pre-service teaching) as well as during their off-campus experiences which consist of their roles as student interns and their ability to handle students’ participation. Qualitative research methods can be resorted in order to perform in-depth descriptive studies to investigate the differences in the teaching skills of pre-service teachers from different indicators. AbstractIt is widely believed that economic returns of tertiary education to the public are much higher than those in other sectors of the economy. Excellence in education and research, therefore, is an important factor for the welfare of countries. To improve the well-being of their citizens, governments invested heavily in higher education. The number of higher education institutes in the world has reached 18,000, and as a result, a larger fraction of people is getting tertiary education degrees. The expansion of the university system required a corresponding increase in the funding.

This report highlights some of the major developments in the area of speech anatomy and physiology drawing from the author's own research experience during his years at the University of Iowa and the University of Illinois. He has benefited greatly from mentors including Professors James Curtis, Kenneth Moll, and Hughlett Morris at the University of Iowa and Professor Paul Lauterbur at the University of Illinois. Many colleagues have contributed to the author's work, especially Professors Jerald Moon at the University of Iowa, Bradley Sutton at the University of Illinois, Jamie Perry at East Carolina University, and Youkyung Bae at the Ohio State University. The strength of these researchers and their students bodes well for future advances in knowledge in this important area of speech science.

The present article is dedicated to the problems of the organization and planning of scientific and research work of students of the University in English classes, gives grounds for the purposes and tasks of such competence-forming activity as part of the “Oriental studies” speciality program, the Russian State University for the Humanities. The article analyzes these competences, as well as forms and methods of their formation and development. The author presents demarcation of scientific knowledge and gives its characteristics: using most general qualities of a subject, objective reasoning, argumentativeness, results verifiability and reproducibility, consistency, practicality, capability to change, anticipating the future, making forecasts, methodological reflection. The author tried to analyze the reflexive component of scientific and research work of students in more detail. The article presents possible reflexive positions in the interaction between the teacher and the student and shows the dynamics of this interaction, i.e. gives a hierarchy of positions which the student can occupy in the educational process depending on how independent they are in their activity. The article also highlights the content of scientific and research work of students of the University in English classes on the basis of work with foreign texts in the macro-discourse for the “Oriental studies” speciality. The given foundations of the organization and content of scientific and research work of students have been regularly used in English language classes, as well as in optional forms of scientific activity. The students have shown good results and passion for this kind of work, which confirms the correctness of this approach.

University is relatively considered a stressful moment in the life of students due to numerous academic workloads and academic activities. The situation is further aggravated by the fact that some university students are in emerging adulthood, a developmental period which is psychologically fraught with uncertainty, instability and identity issues among others. Added to these, the context of most universities like Cameroon which is marred with political, economic and social turbulence common to other developing societies in the sub Saharan region makes life unbearable. Looking at the challenges that confront tertiary education students in the third decade of life, increases possibilities of fears that they will founder thus narrowing the route to a blossomed transition into adulthood and through the university from home into the world of work. However, observations reveal that some have remained hopeful as they continuously believe in themselves and their worth. As such, they have resiliently shrugged off the vast burden placed on them by the adult society as they struggle intentionally with continuous efforts to succeed. Being hopeful and self-efficacy beliefs are observed to be some of the effective drivers that pull emerging adults through the storms of university transition thus facilitating positive development into subsequent life stages. Unfortunately just a paucity of literature albeit theoretically actually narrates via scholarly corridors the monumental successes recorded by students as they sail flourishingly through university in the midst of storms an in the third decade of life. This paper examines and addresses the foregoing through the lenses of some theories.

Faculty engagement has been proved to be a critical driver of the universities’ efficiency and effectiveness. The first step towards building an engaged workforce is to get a measure of faculty perceptions of their engagement level to their universities. Accordingly, the purpose of this paper is to investigate the faculty members' engagement in the Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University. It examines the relationship between the faculty professional variablesand their level of engagement to their institutions. William Kahn's (1990) three-component model of employee engagement was partially adapted as a framework to measure the faculty members' engagement. A questionnaire was used to better address the objective of this study. The data were obtained from the Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (Dammam University) through an internet-based survey. The validity and the reliability of the questionnaire has been evaluated and reported. Results of the analyses show that cognitive engagement is reported to be higher than both the emotional and physical engagement, with a mean rating of 4.040 and a standard deviation of .487, based on the five-point scale. Given the engagement level of the faculty members in this study, the university administrators should develop policies, and strategies that encourage and support engagement among faculty members at the University in order to maximize their engagement. Policy makers must also take into consideration the needs of the faculty members
