Bronchial asthma is a heterogenous disease with reciprocity between genetic and environmental factors. The different triggering factors increase the frequency and severity of breathing difficulty attacks. The use of modern medicines is restricted due to its various local as well systemic side effects. The clinical picture of bronchial asthma can be correlated with Tamakashwas as explained in Ayurveda. In the present case study, a 24 years old female patient having signs and symptoms of Tamakashwas has been discussed. The treatment was administered in accordance with Shodhana Chikitsa, Shamana Aushadhis and Sthanika Chikitsa. Nidana Parivarjana is strictly instructed in order to avoid the stimulation to internal pathology of the disease. The classical management helps in relieving the symptoms as well as lowers the recurrence of the breathing difficulty attacks. Regular counselling and practice of Parnayama contributes in boosting and refreshing her mind. The assessment was done by using the gradation scale which was adopted from de-veloping guidelines for clinical research methodology in Ayurveda. This Ayurvedic management helps in achieving the positive output with complete stoppage of use of inhaler over a period of 6 months.

Assessment was recorded. Results – WBC count and ESR rate reduced to normal, Haemoglobin level increased, SGPT and Sr. Bilurubin level remains normal. Also significant resolution of lung Koch’s lesions was noted radiologically. Conclusion - Jivantyadi Ghrit as an adjunct therapy with DOTs reduces the side effects (especially hepatic) of DOTs therapy and also shows significant clinical improvement in sign and symptoms of PTB.

Episcleritis is an inflammatory condition of the episclera producing local redness and mild soreness or discomfort. By appearance it looks similar to conjunctivitis, but there will be no discharge or tearing. It typically affects young adults, being twice more common in women than men. There are many treatments available for episcleritis but they all include the use of corticosteroids which on long run produces side effects like posterior subcapsular cataract, glaucoma, allergic conjunctivitis. So the development of a treatment protocol devoid of corticosteroids is the need of today`s era. In Ayurveda, the signs and symptoms of this can be compared with the lakshanas of Sirapidaka. The present paper discusses a case of episcleritis and its Ayurvedic treatment.

When the shape, structure, and/or function of one of the parts of the components of the stomatognathic system change, structural and physiological changes also occur to absorb or compensate the consequent loads. Hence, an insightful rehabilitation of this type of patient involves essential procedures, such as: correct orientation of the occlusal plane, determination of the vertical dimension of occlusion, and a stable and healthy maxillomandibular relationship, since the nonobservance of these aspects may result in prosthodontic rehabilitation failure. The objective of the present case study is to report the preoperative planning and prosthodontic rehabilitation of an edentulous patient with severe maxillary atrophy and signs and symptoms of temporomandibular disorders. The patient underwent flat occlusal plane splint therapy to reestablish the condyle-fossa and maxillomandibular relationships and muscle activity, followed by prosthodontic rehabilitation with implant-supported complete dentures. The maxillomandibular relationship was determined by the intraoral tracing technique, with a 24-month follow-up.

In this global health case study, we describe a case of nicotine addiction due to chronic use of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarette) and discuss the beliefs on safety and awareness of their side effects. Many people believe that smoking an e-cigarette (vaping) does not have any side effects, especially among teenagers and young adults. Teenagers using an e-cigarette at a young age are twice as likely to try cigarettes later in their life because of nicotine dependency or other social factors. More recent studies have shown long-term systemic side effects of vaping regardless of traditional cigarette smoking history. This report was done for further assessing their risk and to clear out misconceptions of this large-scale condition.

Introduction: It is known that vision disorders are within the context of public health problems. In childhood, during the neuropsychomotor development phase, visual changes are crucial, since there is a strong correlation between poor school performance and changes in acuity. For these reasons, ophthalmological examination in children, including refraction, is extremely important, aiming at the early diagnosis of diseases and possible refractive errors that may compromise the child's life and development. 1% cyclopentolate hydrochloride eye drops are the most used during ophthalmic clinical evaluation as a cycloplegic and mydriatic agent to assist in refractive examination. Objective: The ocular and systemic side effects of 1% cyclopentolate hydrochloride eye drops were studied in patients who underwent static refractive examination in the strabismus sector of the Ophthalmology Discipline of the Centro Universitário FMABC. Methods: A drop of 1% cyclopentolate is instilled in both eyes of each patient and the possible ocular and systemic signs and symptoms presented were observed after 40 minutes and 24 hours after instillation. Results: we expect to find ocular side effects more evident than systemic symptoms in the two evaluation times (40 minutes and 24 hours after instillation). All symptoms (ocular and systemic) are reversed spontaneously. Conclusion: The present study aims to show that the side effects observed by the topical (ocular) use of cyclopentolate eye drops 1% are few and present spontaneous reversal both from an eye point of view, as well as from a systemic point of view.
