This research was designed to improve the students` reading comprehension through Think Talk Write at the first-grade students of SMKN 1 Lasusua. The research problem was “The reading comprehension of the first- grade students of SMKN 1 Lasusua is low”. The design of this research was collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR).In this research, there were two cycles. The first cycle was not success because the result of the students’ test did not fulfill the KKM, so there was the next cycle. The second cycle was success because the result of the student test achieved the KKM mandatory by the school. In addition, this research must get score of 70 to fulfill the Minimum Mastery Criterion – Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM). It could be seen in the average score, it was 68.6 in the first cycle, and there were only 17 students from 35 students got greater score than or equal 70. This score increased to be 74.77 in the second cycle, there were 26 from 35 students got score greater than or equal 70. It means that this research was successful. Based on the findings, the conclusion is Think Talk Write strategy could improve the students` comprehension in reading at the first-grade students of SMKN 1 Lasusua.

This research problem comes from low of students’ score of reading comprehension at English program academic year 2012/2013. It could be seen from some students failed in reading comprehension I. In order to researcher would do classroom action research by applying Think Pair Share technique to improve students reading comprehension on reading II. Purpose of this research were to describe applying Think Pair Share technique on reading comprehension of English program and knowing how can Think Pair Share improve students’ reading comprehension. In collecting data, researcher used qualitative data that consist of observation sheet, field note, and interview. In quantitative data, she used tasks and tests. In making note about what happened in this research, she helped by collaborator who teach reading comprehension too in English Department. This classroom action research consisted of two cycles; each of cycles consisted of four meeting. Three meeting did treatments, and one meeting for test. Related to finding of this research, Think Pair Share technique could improve reading comprehension. In addition, the factor that influence students’ learning by applying this technique were interesting technique, interesting topic of learning material then lecturer guiding on students in understanding learning material. The improvement of students’ learning could be proved on students’ score in each cycles. Mean score students’ reading comprehension for the first cycle was 63.8, then second cycle was 73.3. This research can be concluded that classroom action research by applying Think Pair Share technique could improve students’ reading comprehension on Reading II course at English program STKIP PGRI Sumatera Barat.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatan hasil belajar mahasiswa tingkat I PGSD STKIP Santu Paulus Ruteng melalui pendekatan taktik bermain. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (Classroom Action Research) yang terdiri atas dua siklus, menggunakan desain Kemmis & MC. Taggart. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan taktik bermain yang di padukan dengan permainan lempar tangkap bola dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar dan minat sepak bola mahasiswa kelas IF PGSD STKIP Santu Paulus Ruteng. Berdasarkan data hasil tes pada siklus I rata-rata nilai mahasiswa secara klaksikal megalami peningkatan yaitu terlihat dari pratindakan 30 orang (50,84%) naik menjadi 39 orang (67%) pada siklus I dan pada siklus II menjadi 45 orang (76%) yang tuntas/lulus dengan mencapai kriteria ketuntasan minimum yaitu 60. Kata kunci: hasil belajar, sepak bola, pendekatan taktik bermain   AN EFFORT TO INCREASE THE STUDENTS’ QUALITY AT PGSD OF STKIP ST. PAUL RUTENG IN PLAYING FOOTBALL THROUGH THE TACTICAL APROACH Abstract This research aims to seek the increasing result of the students’ learning process in the first grade at PGSD (Elementary School Teacher Education) of STKIP St. Paul Ruteng through the tactical games approach. This research is a kind of Classroom Action Research which consists of two cycles by using Kemmis & MC. Taggart’s design. The research result shows that the tactical games approach which is combined with throwing-catching of ball play can increase the learning result and the interest in playing football for the 1F-class students at PGSD of STKIP St. Paul Ruteng.  Based on the test result at first cycle, the average score of the students, is increasing classically which is shown by pre-action, namely 30 students (50.84%) becoming 39 students (67%) at first cycle, and then at second cycle it has been 45 students (76%) who have graduated/passed by reaching the minimum score criteria namely 60. AbstractThe main objective of this research is to improve the eighth graders’ reading comprehension through Jigsaw technique at SMP 1 PSKD. This research is a classroom action research in two cycles. The research was done on April 12th, 2016 until May 24th, 2016. The subject of the research was the students of VIII class at SMP 1 PSKD. There were 27 students (13 males and 14 females). The instruments of the test are pre-test and post-test. The non instruments test are observation sheets, interview, and researcher’s diary notes. The improvement of the eighth graders’ reading comprehension scores can be seen from the result of the pre-test and post-test. The average score of the students in the pre-test was 49.03 points and in cycle 1 the average score of the students was 65.78 points. So the increase between the two tests was 16.75 or 34.16%. In the cycle 2, the average of students’ score was 75.85 points. The result of the posttest 1 was 65.78 points, so the increase from post-test 1 in cycle 1 to post-test 2 in cycle 2 was 10.07 points or 15.75%. The improvement from pre-test to post-test 2 was 54.70%. In addition to the score increase, jigsaw technique can improve the students’ enthusiasm in learning reading comprehension. It can be seen from the result of the interview. The participants were interested in learning reading comprehension through jigsaw technique because jigsaw technique helped them in comprehending the text. This research was also supported by the result of researcher’s diary notes. The researcher’s diary notes shows that there were a positive changed from cycle 1 to cycle 2. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that jigsaw technique could improve the eighth graders’ reading comprehension at SMP 1 PSKD.   Keywords: jigsaw technique, reading comprehension

Improving The Students’ Reading Comprehension Through Know-Want-Learn Strategy at the first-grade students of SMA Negeri 18 Makassar. The objective of this research was intended to explain the improvement of the students’ interpretative and literal reading comprehension through Know-Want-Learn Strategy at the first-grade students of SMA Negeri 18 Makassar especially in class X 3. The strategy of this research was a Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisted of two cycles, one cycle consisted of four meetings. It means that there were eight meetings for two cycles. This classroom action research was done at the first-grade students of SMA Negeri 18 Makassar in Daya Regency for English subject. As the subject in this research was class X 3 in the 2012-2013 academic year with students’ number of about 32 students. Those consist of  22 women and 10 men. The instrument of this research was observation sheet and reading test or evaluation. The findings of the research were students achievement in reading comprehension was 54,07 in D-test, then Cycle I is 69,07 and it becomes 73,81 in Cycle II. The students'  activeness in learning reading comprehension in the first meeting of Cycle I was 45,39% then it becomes 90,78% in the fourth meeting of Cycle II.Keyword: Improving, reading, know, want, learn, strategy.

The problem of this research is the students’ low comprehension in reading descriptive text in term of generic structure, purpose, language features and vocabulary. This research aimed to enhance student understanding by using a constructivist approach in reading descriptive text. The design of this research was a classroom action research (CAR). The samples of this research were 40 students. Based on the result of the test, it was found that students’ average score was 77. The resulting score improved from the based score that was 69.5. Furthermore from the result of observation, field note and interview, it was found the factors influencing the improvement of students’ comprehension in reading descriptive text by using a constructivist approach, they were teacher’s strategy and teacher’s media. Finally, the researcher concludes that this constructivist approach can improve the students’ reading comprehension.

This research was based on the researcher's preliminary study which found that the students could not comprehend the meaning of texts in their textbook.   This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve the students’ reading comprehension in narrative text through simplified text at grade VIII of SMP Budhi Luhur Pekanbaru. The research was administered to the second year students of SMP Budhi Luhur Pekanbaru. The total population was 34 students. After analyzing the data, the researcher found a significant effect of simplified text toward reading at the second-year SMP Budhi Luhur Pekanbaru students, where the average score from the based score was 58. It increased to 66 at the end of the cycle I. Finally, the average score of cycle II was 75. So it can be concluded that simplified text can increase the students' reading skill at grade VIII SMP Budhi Luhur Pekanbaru

This research used Classroom Action Research. Think Pair Share can be trusted to help students comprehend reading skill. The population of the research were the students of SMPN 3 Klari Karawang in Academic years 2017-2018. The total population of the students in this academic year are 280 students. The number of sample were 30 students. The data was gathered from the test and observation. After being implementated of Think Pair Share activities in every cycle, the students’ reading score were getting better. We can see from the result of students’ average score Cycle I 63.47 and Cycle II 79.67. In conclusion, the Technique of Think Pair Share can improve learners’ reading comprehension.

This research basically is conducted to improve students’ reading comprehension through KWL (Know, What, to learn) at the eight grade of SMP Islam Al-Asmaniyah. This research had been done at eigth grade of SMP Islam Al-Asmaniyah located Kab. Tangerang, Banten. This research had been taken in semester II. It had done since April 2018 – June 2018 in academic year 2017 – 2018. This research is classroom action research with qualitative approach. As for design classroom action research which is used in this study is to use a model of Kemmis and McTaggart that used 3 cycles where each cycle included planing, acting, observing, and reflecting. The result of reading test in cycle I using KWL got the average score of 71,8 where there are 59 % students that got KKM. In cycle II, the result of reading test using KWL got the average score of 76 where there are 76% students that got KKM. The students were easier to read the text given. Although they still found difficult in understanding the text because of the limitation of their vocabulary. The result of reading test got better in cycle III. The students were more understand in doing their activity in KWL and more active in learning. In this cycle, they got the average score of 83,2 where there are 93% students that got KKM. KWL can be considered as an effective way to improve students’ achievement in reading comprehension.

This research objective is to find out the student’s ability in reading comprehension by using CIRC. The population was the first grade students of SMP Swasta Cinta Rakyat 1 Melanthon Siregar Pematangsiantar.The research design was used classroom action research. To collect the data, the researcher uses test that consist of pre test and post test that is formed of multiple choice. In analyzing the data the researcher uses theory from Harris, A. J (1984) and Arikunto, S (2007). Based on analyzing the data, the researcher found that mean score of the students in pre-test is 40,66 and mean score from post test is 73,33. From the score in pre test and post test, the researcher can seen the significant improvement score of the students. Based on the result of the research, the researcher can suggest that the CIRC method is the effective method to teach reading especially in reading comprehension a text.

This research was based on the students’ problem in reading comprehension of narrative text, especially in generic structure, purpose, language features and vocabulary. The purpose of this research was to improve reading comprehension in narrative text. The design of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research consisted of five meetings in one cycle. This research conducted on March 2018. Based on the test result, it was found that the average score of cycle was 80, 09. Furthermore, the data about factors that influence the students’ improvement in reading comprehension in narrative text were obtained by interview, observation checklist, and field note. The factors were interested of media, students’ enjoy and fun during learning process and this strategy was easily to comprehend. In conclusion, the use of FLIP strategy can improve students reading comprehension in narrative text.
