This research basically is conducted to improve students’ reading comprehension through KWL (Know, What, to learn) at the eight grade of SMP Islam Al-Asmaniyah. This research had been done at eigth grade of SMP Islam Al-Asmaniyah located Kab. Tangerang, Banten. This research had been taken in semester II. It had done since April 2018 – June 2018 in academic year 2017 – 2018. This research is classroom action research with qualitative approach. As for design classroom action research which is used in this study is to use a model of Kemmis and McTaggart that used 3 cycles where each cycle included planing, acting, observing, and reflecting. The result of reading test in cycle I using KWL got the average score of 71,8 where there are 59 % students that got KKM. In cycle II, the result of reading test using KWL got the average score of 76 where there are 76% students that got KKM. The students were easier to read the text given. Although they still found difficult in understanding the text because of the limitation of their vocabulary. The result of reading test got better in cycle III. The students were more understand in doing their activity in KWL and more active in learning. In this cycle, they got the average score of 83,2 where there are 93% students that got KKM. KWL can be considered as an effective way to improve students’ achievement in reading comprehension.

Improving The Students’ Reading Comprehension Through Know-Want-Learn Strategy at the first-grade students of SMA Negeri 18 Makassar. The objective of this research was intended to explain the improvement of the students’ interpretative and literal reading comprehension through Know-Want-Learn Strategy at the first-grade students of SMA Negeri 18 Makassar especially in class X 3. The strategy of this research was a Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisted of two cycles, one cycle consisted of four meetings. It means that there were eight meetings for two cycles. This classroom action research was done at the first-grade students of SMA Negeri 18 Makassar in Daya Regency for English subject. As the subject in this research was class X 3 in the 2012-2013 academic year with students’ number of about 32 students. Those consist of  22 women and 10 men. The instrument of this research was observation sheet and reading test or evaluation. The findings of the research were students achievement in reading comprehension was 54,07 in D-test, then Cycle I is 69,07 and it becomes 73,81 in Cycle II. The students'  activeness in learning reading comprehension in the first meeting of Cycle I was 45,39% then it becomes 90,78% in the fourth meeting of Cycle II.Keyword: Improving, reading, know, want, learn, strategy.

This research aimed at finding out whether Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) strategy improves students’ reading comprehension or not. The research was a classroom action research. The data collected through quantitative and qualitative approach. Quantitative data was gained from the result of pre-test and post-test from reading test. Meanwhile, qualitative data was gained from the result of observation sheets toward students’ and teachers’ activity. The instruments used by the researcher were test and observation sheet. The finding of the research showed that the strategy Listen-Read-Discuss improve the students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text. The improvement can be seen from the mean score of students from pre-test, post-test one, and post-test two. The mean score of pre-tests was 64.46 (50%), there were eight students who passed the minimum passing grade, in the post-test one, 75.35 (67%), twelve students passed the minimum passing grade and in the post-test two, 82.14 (89%), twenty-five students passed the minimum passing grade (KKM).

The research aimed to find out the improvement of students’ reading comprehension in terms of finding main ideas and meaning of words at the students’ of SMPN 4 Libureng in the 2012/2013 academic year. This research used A Classroom Action Research that consisted two cycles. The sample of this research consisted of 22 students, those consisted of six women and twelve men.The researcher obtained the data by using reading test and observation sheet. The results of the student's reading test in cycle I and cycle II had significantly different scores.  There was a better increase of gains by students at the end of the action in the second cycle. In the cycle, I, the students’ achievement of main ideas was 6,09, but after evaluation in cycle II, the students’ reading comprehension become 7,62.The other hand the students’ meaning of words was improved too from cycle I to cycle II, whereas in the students’ achievement of the meaning of words was 6,13, but after evaluation in cycle II, the students’ achievement becomes 7,74. From the findings indicated that there was the improvement in the students’ reading comprehension from cycle I to cycle II, whereas in cycle I students’ achievement reading comprehension was 23,81, but after evaluating in cycle II the students’ reading comprehension became 25,69. While the standard target achievement KKM 66. From these findings, the researcher made the conclusion that by using an eclectic approach could improve the students’ reading comprehension achievement.   Key Word: Eclectic Approach, Improve, Reading Comprehension

This research used Classroom Action Research. Think Pair Share can be trusted to help students comprehend reading skill. The population of the research were the students of SMPN 3 Klari Karawang in Academic years 2017-2018. The total population of the students in this academic year are 280 students. The number of sample were 30 students. The data was gathered from the test and observation. After being implementated of Think Pair Share activities in every cycle, the students’ reading score were getting better. We can see from the result of students’ average score Cycle I 63.47 and Cycle II 79.67. In conclusion, the Technique of Think Pair Share can improve learners’ reading comprehension.

The obejectives of this research are to know the improvement  of the students’ achievement in poetry mastery and their perception regarding to the semiotic method in teaching and learning poetry in  English Education Department, Languages and Art Faculty of State University of Medan. The research method used is the Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects of the research are the fifth semester of 37 students of 2013/2014 academic year. The data are collected by test in order to know the students’ achievment in poetry mastery. The students’ perception toward the implementation of the semiotic method for teaching and learning poetry is collected by questionaire. The data are analyzed by descriptive analysis. The result of research shows that (1) the average score of the students’ achievement of poetry mastery is (71.75) or it increases (11,59) point from pre-test (60.16) and (2) in general, the students’ perception toward the semiotic method for teaching and learning poetry are good and positive.

This research was designed to improve the students` reading comprehension through Think Talk Write at the first-grade students of SMKN 1 Lasusua. The research problem was “The reading comprehension of the first- grade students of SMKN 1 Lasusua is low”. The design of this research was collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR).In this research, there were two cycles. The first cycle was not success because the result of the students’ test did not fulfill the KKM, so there was the next cycle. The second cycle was success because the result of the student test achieved the KKM mandatory by the school. In addition, this research must get score of 70 to fulfill the Minimum Mastery Criterion – Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM). It could be seen in the average score, it was 68.6 in the first cycle, and there were only 17 students from 35 students got greater score than or equal 70. This score increased to be 74.77 in the second cycle, there were 26 from 35 students got score greater than or equal 70. It means that this research was successful. Based on the findings, the conclusion is Think Talk Write strategy could improve the students` comprehension in reading at the first-grade students of SMKN 1 Lasusua.

<p>This research was purposed to find out how the use of structural analysis improve the reading comprehension of E class second semester students of Business English and Management Major Tonggak Equator Polytechnic in the academic year 2017-2018 and how significant does the use of structural analysis improve the reading comprehension of E class second semester students of Business English and Management Major Tonggak Equator Polytechnic in academic year 2017-2018. This research was classroom action research which was set out in two cycles, they are the first and second cycle. The subject of this research was E class second semester students of Business English and Management Concentration of Tonggak Equator Polytechnic in the academic year 2017-2018. Field note and test were used in collecting the data. The test consists of pre-test and progress-test. The data of the students' pre-test and progress-test score were analyzed by using the mean score and the data of the observation by using field note was analyzed descriptively. The finding of the research was structural analysis positively improved the reading comprehension of E class second semester students of Business English and Management Major Tonggak Equator Polytechnic in academic year 2017-2018 within two cycles, and the significance of the use of structural analysis in improving the reading comprehension of E class second semester students of Business English and Management Major Tonggak Equator Polytechnic in academic year 2017-2018 could be seen based on the test given they were 64 for the pre-test, 71.6 for the first progress-test and 83.4 for the second progress-test, and from the field note, that the students looked tired, sleepy, looked for answer from student beside them and could not finish the test by the time given by the researcher in the first cycle but have significant progress in the second cycle that the students looked more relax in doing the test and could finish the test by the time given by the researcher.<br />Keywords: reading comprehension, structural analysis, classroom action research.</p>

This study aims to determine the efforts to improve the poetry writing ability of VB graders in MIN Wonosari, Gunungkidul Regency by using the field trip method 2015/2016 academic year. This research is a classroom action research. The subjects of this study were all students of V-B MIN Wonosari Gunungkidul Regency, amounting to 21 students consisting of 8 male students and 13 female students. Classroom action research steps include the activities of planning, implementation, observation, testing, and documentation. The results of the study can be concluded that: (1) the use of field trip methods can improve students' poetry writing skills-average value in the V-B MIN Wonosari class in Kab. Gunungkidul in the pre-cycle was 49.52 with learning completeness 42.86% with sufficient criteria. After carrying out learning with the field trip method increased in the first cycle, the average value became 76.19, with learning completeness of 61.90%, including good criteria. In the second cycle, the average score became 76.72, with 80.95 learning completeness, including very good criteria. (2) There is an increase in the implementation of the learning process and students. From these data, it can be concluded that the application of field trip methods can improve the ability to write poetry in students of V-B MIN Wonosari class, Kab. Gunungkidul.

This research is the classroom action research (PTK). It is held toward students of Department of Agribusiness 4 semester sixth of academic year 2014/2015 Faculty of Agriculture North Sumatra Muhammadiyah University, which is amount 40 persons. The research aims to improve the student’s learning result that in the low level and did not achieve the minimum completeness criteria (KKM) of 65 score. This classroom action research uses learning media of video which is used as instrument to motivate the students in the learning process so that the learning result become better and achieve the score of KKM. The instruments are used by researcher is the 20-questions-multiple-choice and 5-question-essay test, observation sheet either for researcher or students, and using media of video. The student’s learning result of the first cycle is the highest score of 78 and the lowest score 56. While the student’s learning result in the second cycle obtaining the highest score of 88 and the lowest score of 68. The average score of first cycle is 68.65 experienced an increase in the second cycle with the average score of 81.15. This shows that learning media of video plays an important role in improving the student’s learning result.

This classroom action research aims at improving statistical problem solving ability through the implementation of open ended problems in the students of MFB E semester VI STIPAR Triatma Jaya in the academic year 2016/2017. The design of this research is Classroom Action Research in which subject was student MFB E semester VI STIPAR Triatma Jaya consisted of 25 students. Data of problem solving ability were collected by using a problem-solving test in the form of essay test. Data of problem solving abilities were analyzed quantitatively. The results of this study show that: (1) implementation of open ended problem can improve the statistical problem solving ability of student MFB E semester VI STIPAR Triatma Jaya year lesson 2016/2017. In cycle I, the students’ average problem solving ability reached 70.28, whereas in cycle II the average value of problem solving ability was successfully increased into 80.08. These results indicate that there has been an increasing in the average score of problem-solving abilities by 9.8 from cycle I to cycle II. (2) Implementation of open ended problem can improve students' statistics learning mastery MFB E semester VI STIPAR Triatma Jaya year lesson 2016/2017. In cycle I the percentage of mastery was 68%, while in cycle II the percentage of learning mastery was successfully increased to 88%. These results indicate that there has been an increasing in percentage mastery learning by 20% from cycle I to cycle II.
