Background and aim: Authentic leadership is relatively a new paradigm that emphasizes leaders' credibility. It can serve the healthcare organization to build an organizational culture that reinforces the healthcare worker in being committed and engaged in work. This study aimed to examine the effect of authentic leadership on staff nurses' affective organizational commitment and work engagement through examining the mediating role of behavioral integrity. Methods: Study design: A descriptive correlational design was used in conducting this study. Setting: The study was conducted at two different hospitals, namely Menoufia University Hospital, and National Liver Institution, Egypt. Sampling: A Convenience sampling of two groups were selected; 64 front-line nurse managers and 320 staff nurses. Tools: Four instruments were used for collecting data; authentic leadership questionnaire, behavioral integrity scale, affective organizational commitment questionnaire, and Utrecht work engagement scale. Spearman correlation (r) and binary logistic regression analysis were used to achieve the study aim. Results: Total behavioral integrity (BI) score was significantly correlated with total authentic leadership (AL) and two of its subscales (internalized moral perspective and balanced processing). Moreover, a significant positive correlation was revealed between the enactment of espoused values at one hand and total authentic leadership and its subscales except for self-awareness. Correlation analysis between BI and organizational commitment revealed a significant positive correlation between the two variables. A significant positive correlation was also found between the BI total and its subscales with work engagement total and its subscales. Conclusions: This study supported the proposition that the relationship between authentic leadership and positive nurses’ outcomes including affective commitment and work engagement is mediated by behavioral integrity.

Context: All over the world, the increased awareness of the importance of early diagnosis of genetic diseases has given them priority in primary health care. However, more recent surveys indicate that genetics content is still lacking in nursing curricula. Aim: Evaluate the effect of educational empowerment on student nurses' knowledge, practice, and attitude toward genomic counseling. Methods: Quasi-experimental (pre/posttest) design was utilized to collect the data of this study. The study was conducted at the Faculty of Nursing affiliated to Ain Shams University. The subjects were all available adolescent nursing students who enrolled in the pediatric and obstetric course in the third year. The study sample was composed of 340 nursing students. Researchers used a self-administered questionnaire that includes characteristics of subjects and the assessment of knowledge, attitude, and practice of students. Results: 47.65% of the studied students had poor knowledge at the pre-educational program phase. In comparison, 55.88% had good knowledge at the post educational program, with a highly significant difference at p-value <0.01. There was a highly significant difference between studied students' attitudes toward genetic disease, health history benefits, genetic examination benefits, genomic counseling, follow-up, and decision-making process domains at pre and post-educational program at p-value <0.001. Also, the results reveal that 79.41% of studied students had unsatisfactory practice at the pre-educational program, while 70.59% of them had satisfactory practice at post educational program. There was a highly positive correlation between knowledge, practice, and attitude of studied students about genomic counseling at the pre-educational program. Conclusion: Educational empowerment positively affected adolescent nursing students' knowledge, attitude, and practice regarding genomic counseling. The study recommended continuous training for adolescent nursing students about genetic counseling to prepare them for their future roles. Future studies are needed to examine the relationship between knowledge, attitude, and practice of adolescent nursing students regarding genomic counseling.

The mean knowledge score of PPC for the control group is 6.88 (SD = 2.26), while that of the intervention group was 7.92 (SD = 1.99; p = 0.052). The mean attitude for PPC score for the control group was 95.88 (SD = 7.90), while that of the intervention group was 100 (SD = 10.95; p = 0.009). The current study was focused on identifying how interpersonal communication affects teamwork effectiveness and organizational commitment in nurses. The sample of (N = 150) nurses were recruited through purposive sampling technique from a public hospital of Lahore. To test the study assumptions, Socio- Communicative Orientation Scale (Richmond & McCroskey, 1990), Teamwork Effectiveness Self-Assessment Questionnaire (Sterling & Selesnick, 1988), and Organization Commitment Scale (Allen & Meyer, 1990) were used. Results showed that interpersonal communication was directly proportionate to teamwork effectiveness and all measures of organizational commitment. Whereas, team effectiveness was partially linked with dimensions of organizational commitment. Furthermore, findings showed that organizational commitment (affective commitment and normative commitment) was predicted by measures of interpersonal communication that is assertiveness and responsiveness. Interpersonal communication may play a leading role in developing organization commitment, therefore, efforts should be made to improve and enhance the interpersonal communication skills of nurses in Pakistan.
