This study investigated theperception and awareness of climate change among adult learners on attendance and performance in literacy centres in Ondo State, Nigeria. Five research questions were generated for the study. The descriptive research design of the survey type was used for the study involving a population of adult learners in literacy centres in Ondo State, Nigeria. Purposive random sampling technique was used to select a sample size of 100 participants drawn from the entire population of adult learners in literacy centres of Ondo State, Nigeria. A self-constructed questionnaire was used as an instrument for the study. Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics of frequency counts, percentage and mean deviation were used to answer the research questions raised for the study. Findings revealed that the level of awareness on climate change among adult learners on attendance and performance is very high because they were already aware of climate change and its effects on human existence. Also, adult learners do not perceive climate change as the work of nature alone but as well as the effects of activities of man on the environment. Findings also revealed that that several factors like deforestation, bush burning, air pollution and other man’s activities on the environment such as mining, science and technology among others are the causes of climate change. It is therefore recommended that, information should be disseminated to the people on proper management of the environment. Government should not relent in conducting house to house orientation on how to conserve the environment from the effects of climate change.

Competency is one of the essential elements in teaching. It also determines the effectiveness of teachers during the teaching and learning process and performance of students. The study therefore investigated the competency needs of business educators in Osun State with a view to know those competencies that are needed but not possessed. Descriptive research design of survey type was adopted for the study. The population was 613 business educators out of which 300 was sampled using simple and stratified random sampling techniques. A self-design 20-item questionnaire titled “Teachers’ Competency Assessment Questionnaire (TCAQ)” was used to collect data for the study. The instrument was constructed on 4-point scale. The instrument was validated by two experts. The reliability of the instrument was established using Cronbach alpha and this yielded reliability co-efficient of 0.78. The research questions raised were answered using the means scores. Any item with a mean score greater than or equal to 2.50 suggests moderate possession, item with mean score ranging from 1.50 to 2.49 suggests fairly possession while item with mean score of 1.49 or below suggests not possession. Findings of the study revealed that out four competencies assessed, two were moderately possessed (planning of instruction and classroom instruction skills) one was fairly possessed (practical demonstration skills) while the remaining one was not possessed (ICT skills). It was recommended among others that government and relevant agencies need to organize series of training for business educators to acquire the needed skills.

This study investigated consumer environmental consciousness and brand preference in Rivers State. The study sought to establish the extent to which brand sound influence repeat purchase of power generating plants, the extent to which brand heat generation influence customer referral of power generating plants and the extent which green protection determine customer loyalty of power generating plants in Rivers State. The study adopted descriptive research design. A population of 52 loyal customers of 5 different brands of power generating plants was randomly selected while 47 questionnaires were successfully retrieved for the study. Data was collected by use of questionnaire from the respondents. Three research questions were posed and three hypotheses were tested. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) while inferential statistics Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) was used to test the above stated hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The researcher utilized the Cronbach's Alpha for Reliability Statistics to arrive at 0.75 coefficient reliability, Findings revealed that there is a great correlation between brand sound and customer repeat purchase of power generating plants in Rivers state, that there is a low correlation between brand heat generation and customer referral of power generating plant in Rivers State and that there is a great correlation between green protection and customer loyalty of power generating plant in Rivers State. Consumers in Rivers State should be loyal to power generating plants that emit less carbon monoxide for green house protection

The study examines private sector initiatives and investment challenges in mainstreaming green economy in Ghana. An exploratory study design of qualitative research method was adopted. Due to the level of information required for the study, a purposive sampling technique was employed and a total of twenty-four respondents selected from 8 private sector organisations and some selected government ministries participated in the study. Data collected through in-depth interviews was transcribed, coded and analyzed thematically in line with the objectives and questions of the study. The study found out that green economy initiatives are not well mainstreamed in the private sector. Most companies’ involvement in climate change and green economy activities was commonly carried out through corporate social responsibility (CSR). The study further revealed that, government incentives for private sector investments in adaptation are not attractive. The study identified access to finance, poor knowledge base, weak collaborative effort, inadequate incentives, absence of clear-cut government policy and unsatisfactory recognition as challenges facing private sector-led investments in climate change adaptation. The paper recommends the need for government incentives to attract private sector investment, identification of green investment opportunities, collaboration among stakeholders, climate change sensitisation and education among the private sector in order to address the immediate to long-term consequences of climate change in Ghana.

Forest and the goods and services they provide are essential for human livelihood and wellbeing. An assessment on the likely impact of  deforestation on NTFPs along gender line is therefore imperative for effective adaptations for NTFPs collectors. The study examined the adaptive strategies to deforestation stress employed among NTFPs collectors across gender line in Oluwa Forest Reserve area of Ondo State, Nigeria. Multistage sampling technique was used to select respondents for the study. Data were collected with the aid of well-structured interview schedule on 181 NTFPs collectors (94 males and 87 females) and analysed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The data targeted socio-economic characteristics, level of availability of (NTFPs) in the mist of deforestation currently and 30 years ago as well as adaptive strategiesemployed by the respondents in the study area. Findings revealed that average age of male and female respondents were 48 and 43 years, respectively. Bitter Kola, Kola Nut, Mango and Walnut were NTFPs available in abundant 30 years ago. In recent years, the study discovered that only Mango and Walnut were available in excess despite persistent deforestation in the study area. Deforestation impacted more on female collectors compared to their men counterpart. The finding also shows that female collectors employed more of domesticated NTFPs and indigenous protection methods as adaptive strategies against deforestation. The study recommended training on scientific domesticated system of planting (NTFPs) for both male and female NTFPs collectors as well as community policing to cope against deforestation in the study area. Key words: adaptive strategies, deforestation, non-timber forest products (NTFPs), gender
