Organic manures are eco-friendly alternatives to inorganic fertilizers. However, a large volume of organic inputs is needed to meet the nutritional requirements of crops. Hence, there is a need to combine them with inorganic fertilizers to attain better crop yield. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of the combined application of organic and inorganic fertilizers on the growth and yield performance of sweetcorn and on the profitability of sweetcorn production. The treatments were as follows: T0 - -1 Control (without fertilizer applied), T1 - Inorganic fertilizer at 90-60-60 kg ha -1 -1 (N, P O , K O), T - 5 t ha of vermicompost + 45-30-30 kg ha N, P O , K O, T - 5 2 5 2 2 2 5 2 3 -1 -1 -1 t ha of poultry manure + 45-30-30 kg ha N, P O , K O, T - 5 t ha of cow 2 5 2 4 -1 -1 manure + 45-30-30 kg ha N, P O , K O, T - 5 t ha of goat manure + 45-30-30 2 5 2 5 -1 -1 -1 kg ha N, P2O5 , K2O, T6 - 5 t ha of mudpress + 45-30-30 kg ha N, P2O5 , K2O, T7 - -1 Foliar spray (Fermented Golden Snail) + 45-30-30 kg ha N, P O , K O. The 2 5 2 experiment was laid out in RCBD with 3 replications. Results showed that sweetcorn plants applied with organic + inorganic fertilizers regardless of source had comparable growth and yield performance to plants applied -1 with pure inorganic fertilizers. The highest net income of PhP62,086.00 ha was obtained from plants applied with combined goat manure and inorganic fertilizers. This suggests that in sweetcorn production, it is feasible to reduce the use of inorganic fertilizers by combining them with organic fertilizers

The study evaluated the effects of organic and inorganic fertilizers on the growth and yield of two lowland rice varieties; determined the proper fertilizer combination; and evaluated the profitability of rice production as influenced by the combined application of organic and inorganic fertilizers. This was laid out in split plot arranged in a RCBD design with variety and fertilizer treatments as the main plot and subplot, respectively. Results revealed that the period from sowing to heading, shoot dry weight, number of filled grains per panicle and weight of 1,000 grains were significantly influenced by the variety. The yield, yield components and harvest index (HI) were significantly influenced by fertilizer application. A significant interaction effect was noted on the period from sowing to heading as observed that inbred rice (NSIC Rc212) headed late than hybrid (TH82). Plants applied with 120-60-60 kg ha-1 N, P2O5 and K2O produced taller height, larger LAI, longer panicles, more productive tillers and filled grains, and consequently highest grain yield and HI. These plants also produced the heaviest root and shoot dry weights resulting to higher root shoot ratio compared to unfertilized plants. Highest net income was obtained in plants applied with inorganic fertilizer at the rate of 120-60-60 kg ha-1 N, P2O5 K2O due to high grain yield. Irrespective of fertilizer treatments, inbred rice was more profitable than hybrid. Highest production cost was incurred in plants applied with pure organic fertilizer due to the high cost of the material.

The effects of organic and inorganic fertilizers on the growth and yield performance of soybean was evaluated at ALIAS R & DE Center, Pampanga State Agricultural University, PAC, Magalang, Pampanga from December 2017 to March 2018. It was laid out in the field according to the procedures of randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The treatments tested were T1 – No fertilizer application, T2 – 500 kg/ha of Power Organic, T3 – 21.74 kg/ha of Urea and 150 kg/ha of Super Phosphate, T4 – 250 kg/ha of Power Organic + 10.87 kg/ha of Urea and 75 kg/ha of Super Phosphate, T5 – 375 kg/ha of Power Organic + 5.44 kg/ha of Urea and 37.5/ha of Super Phosphate, T6 – 125 kg/ha of Power Organic + 16.31 kg/ha of Urea and 112 kg/ha of Super Phosphate. Results revealed that all organic and inorganic fertilizers applied crops were significantly different in terms of days to flowering, plant height at flowering, length of pods, weight of 100 seeds and computed seed yield per hectare. Cost and return analysis reveals that the highest net income and return of investment was derived from the combination of 50 % organic and 50 % inorganic fertilizer. Conjunctive use of organic and inorganic fertilizer, that is, 50 % recommended rate of organic fertilizer (Power organic) along with 50 % recommended rate of inorganic fertilizer (Urea and Super Phosphate) can enhance the growth and yield performance of soybean and can help the farmer to increase their production with higher net income.

This study was carried out to ascertain the effects of organic manure (farmyard manure, poultry manure, and vermicompost) and chemical fertilizers NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium) on the growth and yield of onion. The research was consisting ten treatments with three replications. Different levels of nitrogen (0, 100, and 150 kg ha-1), phosphorus (0, 75, and 100 kg ha-1), potassium (0, 80, and 100 kg ha-1) fertilizers, and various rates of organic manures (20 ton ha-1 of farmyard manure, 20 t ha-1 of poultry manure and 15 t ha-1 of vermicompost) were applied to the soil at different combinations. The results of this study have shown that both inorganic fertilizers and organic manures significantly influenced all growth and yield parameters. Whereas, maximum plant height (50.50 cm) and bulb yield (30.75 t ha-1) were obtained at the combination of 20 t ha-1 farmyard manure + 150 kg ha-1 N + 100 kg ha-1 P2O5 + 100 kg ha-1 K2O. However, the minimum bulb yield (15.80 t ha-1) was observed with control where no fertilizer was applied. Therefore, application of 20 t ha-1 farmyard manure during field preparation followed by application of 150 kg ha-1 N + 100 kg ha-1 P2O5 + 100 kg ha-1 K2O can be recommended for optimal growth and maximum bulb yield of onion.

Soil fertility and maximum crop production can only be achieved through proper fertilization. Proper and balanced fertilization have a considerably positive effect on plant growth and yield. Due to continuous use of chemical fertilizers, the organic matter and nutrient content of the soil decreased gradually. Therefore, in modern era, agriculture scientists are now engaged to establish an agricultural system, which can not only lower the production cost, but also conserve the natural resources. Soil, as a source of nutrients, must be protected from various kinds of external factors, especially from the addition of fertilizers in excessive rates. Any degradation in the quality of soil can significantly produce many undesirable changes in the environment and also reduces the overall crop yield. So, the concoction of organic and inorganic fertilization is an alternative and most effective method for sustainable and cost-effective management for maximum crop production, without effecting the environment. The Integrated Nutrient Management provides an excellent opportunity not only for sustainability of the soil, but also enhances the overall crop productivity. The present review study was carried out with the main aim to evaluate the role of combined application of organic and inorganic fertilizers on wheat crop production. The outcome of the study concluded that combined application of both organic and inorganic fertilizers significantly improve the wheat crop production, as compared with the sole application of either organic or inorganic fertilizers.

The objective of the experiment was to evaluate the influence of organic and inorganic fertilizers on growth and yield of two onion varieties in the transitional zone of Ghana. The experiment was laid out in a split plot design with 3 replications. Two varieties [Bawku Red and Red Creole] were laid as main plots and fertilizer rates [10 t/ha Cow dung, 10 t/ha Poultry manure, 300 kg/ha NPK, 5 t/ha PM + 150 kg/ha NPK, 5 t/ha CD + 150 kg/ha NPK) and control (without amendment)] were assigned to sub-plots. The two field experiments were conducted in 2016 and 2017 cropping seasons at the research field of the College of Agriculture Education, University of Education Winneba, Mampong campus. The result showed that Bawku Red planted on 5 t/ha PM + 150 kg/ha NPK produced (P=.05) higher number of leaves per plant and shoot fresh and dry weight than the control during the 2016 cropping season. Red Creole planted on 10 t/ha PM had higher number of leaves per plant, taller plants and higher marketable bulb yield than the control during the 2016 cropping season. In both 2016 and 2017 cropping seasons, Bawku Red and Red Creole planted on 5 t/ha PM + 150 kg/ha NPK produced (P=.05) higher total bulb yield than the control. For maximum vegetative growth and yield in onion production, preferably Bawku red, sole poultry manure (10 t/ha) and/or in combination with NPK (5 t/ha PM+150 kg/ha NPK) is recommended.

[CABBAGE (Brassica olacea var. capitata) GROWTH AND YIELD AFFECTED BY COMBINATION OF ORGANIC AND INORGANIC FERTILIZER APPLICATIONS]. The use of organic fertilizer increasingly sought by farmers due to the increase in demand for organic products by consumers and also awareness of the sustainability of the land. The use of organic fertilizers in the cultivation alone could improve the soil quality but needs to be balanced with inorganic fertilizers to meet the nutrient adequacy. This study aims to examine the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers combination on the growth and cabbage yield, and also to determine the most efficient dosage combination of organic and inorganic fertilizers. This research was conducted at the IPB Pasir Sarongge Experimental Station, Cianjur, West Java from November 2020 to February 2021. The study was compiled using RCBD with 4 replications and 7 treatments. The results showed the combination of 0.75 doses of inorganic fertilizer (150 kg/ha of urea, 75 kg/ha SP36, and 75 kg/ha KCl) and 3 tons/ha of organic fertilizer could increase 14.87 to 15.44% plant height and the number of leaves at 12.82 -15.11% compared to the same dose of inorganic fertilizer treatment alone. The combination of 1 dose (200 kg/ha of urea, 100 kg/ha SP36, and 100 kg/ha KCl) inorganic fertilizer application and 2 tonnes/ha of organic fertilizer could increase 50,60% yield/plot and yield/ha cabbage than 1 dose of inorganic fertilizer treatment..

Background: French bean is used both as dry seeds or as green pod vegetable and it is in increasing demand throughout Fiji. Limited agronomical information is available for its cultivation which is one of the barriers in increasing its production in country. This research aimed to study the influence of organic and inorganic fertilizers on growth and yield of (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) in Fiji. Methods: This research was conducted during April to September 2018 in a Randomized Block Design with three replications and seven treatments of organic and inorganic fertilizers. Observations on growth parameters and yield attributes were recorded and analyzed using analysis of variance technique. Result: Organic and inorganic fertilizers combinations significantly increase the growth and green pod yield of French bean. The applications of nutrient in combination of organic and inorganic fertilizers were found more effective than inorganic fertilizers or organic manure alone for growth and yield of French bean. The combination of 100% NPK (200 kg ha-1) along with Poultry manure @ 5 t ha-1 was found most effective for enhancing growth and yield. It was recorded that on the basis of yield and growth performance treatment 100% NPK along with PM @ 5 t ha-1 was superior.

A study was conducted at the Soil Science Field Laboratory of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh during Boro season of 2014 to evaluate the effect of integrated use of manures and fertilizers for maximizing the growth and yield of BRRI dhan28. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with six treatments and four replications. The treatments include T0 [Control], T1 [Soil Test Basis-Chemical Fertilizer], T2 [(Cowdung) + STB-CF] on IPNS basis, T3 [(Poultry Manure) + STB-CF] on IPNS basis, T4 [(Compost) + STB-CF] on IPNS basis, and T5 [Farmer’s practice]. The maximum grain yield of 4340 kg ha-1 (95.59% increase over control) and straw yield of 4024 kg ha-1 (56.42% increase over control) were recorded in T3 [ (PM) + STB-CF]. The lowest grain and straw yields were found for T0 (Control) treatment. The N, P, K and S contents and uptake by BRRI dhan28 were profoundly influenced due to combined application of manures and fertilizers. The performance of the treatment T3 was better than T1, T2 and T4 in producing the yield of grain and straw of BRRI dhan28 although they received the same amount of nutrients. The results indicate that application of fertilizers in combination with poultry manure could be considered more effective in rice production. A field experiment was conducted at Dormaa Ahenkro, Ghana, to determine the impact of inorganic and organic fertilizers on the growth and yield of cabbage. The experiment was laid in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The experiment treatment comprises of sole application of poultry manure (PM), NPK 15:15:5, the combined application of poultry manure and NPK fertilizer (PM+NPK) and the control (no fertilizer). Data was collected on the number of leaves, stem girth, plant height, head diameter, head weight and edible head weight. There was a significant difference (P<0.05) among all the treatments. The combined application of PM+NPK recorded the highest values for all the parameters measured. From the results obtained farmers should consider the combined application of PM and NPK to maximize yield on their farm.

The objectives of this research were to determine the effect of natural materials added to the rice straw fermentation process; and to find the best formula for organic fertilizers to increase nutrient uptake, growth, and rice grain yield in newly opened and intensive lowland. The research was conducted at West Sumatra AIAT’s laboratory and lowlands at Dharmasraya Regency, West Sumatra Province, Indonesia from July to December 2017. The first research included three formulas of organic fertilizers and the second included six treatments produced from the first research. The results showed that increasing amount of titonia from 200 kg to 400 kg and rock phosphate from 5 kg to 20 kg per ton of rice straw increased compost’s nitrogen and phosphorus content of the compost from 1.22% to 1.36%, and from 0.75% to 1.68% respectively. Application of compost without inorganic fertilizers in newly opened lowland decreased 23% of yield and increased 4.7% yield when combined with inorganic fertilizers. The combined application of organic and inorganic fertilizers increased 10-12% yield and decreased 10% of yield without inorganic fertilizers in intensive lowland. Application of organic fertilizer without inorganic fertilizers not significantly influenced the growth. Combination of organic and inorganic fertilizers is the best way to increase lowland rice yield.
