Purpose: This study examined the determinants of the performance of water projects in urbanized centres based on a Case Study of Mji wa Kale in Mombasa County.Methodology: The study adopted to descriptive study with a target population of 10,069 people comprised of 10, 056 population of the sub-location (KNBS, 2019 Census), ten purified water service providers (purposive), and a respondent each from the region’s water supply regulators, i.e., Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), Mombasa Water and Sanitation Company and Coast Water Works Agency. They were sampled using Solvins formula n = N / (1 + N e2) and simple random reduction to 15% to utilize a sample size of 70 respondents. Data was collected through the use of questionnaires and, where possible, interviews. Data analysis was through mean, frequencies, inferential statistics and descriptive methods through Statistical Package for Social Sciences - SPSS. Data was narrated and reported below frequency TablesFindings: The study found that technology uses in water supply influences the Performance of Water Projects in urbanized centres and that water services companies have the relevant technology skills required in the current trends on new innovative technologies in their supply to the commodity. The study concluded a significant relationship between the availability of natural water sources, consumer preferences of price, appropriate technology, stakeholder involvement, management skills and Performance of water projects in urbanized centres.Unique contribution to theory, policy and practice: The study recommends that water management committees that have untrained community members should not be entrusted to manage these facilities, leading to mismanagement and unwarranted system breakdowns. The study also recommends that project leaders and members be trained on the effective use of scarce water supplied to reduce the losses in quantity and quality of water as delivered from source through to households for use to eventual disposal. There is a need to enhance transparency and accountability levels among the committee members. There is a need for close monitoring and evaluation of water projects by implementing organizations to enhance sustainability. Community participation right from conception and design of water projects to implementation is recommended to enhance water projects' community ownership. There is a need to encourage diversified livelihoods, especially those directly supported by water resources.

Purpose: The Purpose of the study was to establish Critical factors influencing implementation of road projects.Methodology: The study adopted a descriptive survey design. The target population of the study was all the road engineers, middle managers in department of KRB. The sample size was 188 respondents. Data collected was cleaned, pretested, validated, and coded, summarized and analyzed using statistical package of SPSS V23.  The study findings were presented using graphs, histograms, bar charts and pie charts.  Conclusions were derived based on the P.value and the coefficient of determination.  Results: The study found that the key significant determinants of sustainability of water projects in Machakos County were capacity of the project management, government policies, monitoring and resource support. The study concluded that project management capacity had the greatest determinant ofsustainabilityofwater projects in Machakos County, followed by resource support, then monitoring while government policy had the least determinant of sustainability of water projects in Machakos County.Contribution to policy and practice: The study recommends that the government should advocate for proper planning with involvement of the benefiting community and timely implementation with the required results. This can be done through making of a policy by the ministry demanding for the practice of the same by the involved organizations. The project committee should set up financial structures considering both rising of funds and dissemination of the same in relation to operating and maintaining of the project. This can be done through learning and training on the same. The study also recommended that water beneficiaries and management should be sensitized to improve their knowledge on conservation and protection of water facilities.

Purpose: The study sought to establish the determinants of sustainability of water projects in Machakos County, Kenya. Specifically, the study sought to establish the effect of project management capacity, government policies, resource support and monitoring on sustainability of water projects in Machakos County Kenya. The study was guided by Project Management Competency Model, Policy Theory, Resource Based View Theory and Program Theory.Methodology:The target population comprised of 244 water projects in the county implemented by the county government, national government community and non-governmental organizations. The unit of observation was water project managers. A descriptive research design was adopted in the study. The study applied Yamane sampling formula to derive a sample of 151 respondents to be involved in the study.  The study used quantitative data that was collected from respondents using 5-point Likert scales questionnaire with closed ended questions. Data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used. The study findings were presented through tables and figures.Results: The study found that the key significant determinants of sustainability of water projects in Machakos County were capacity of the project management, government policies, monitoring and resource support. The purpose of this study was to determine the major drivers of performance in community water projects – a case of water projects in Saku sub county, Marsabit County, Kenya. The study investigated; the role of management planning, availability of funding, community participation and projects governance policies on performance of community water projects in Saku Sub County. The study used Community Development theories’ and adopted a descriptive research design. The target population for this study was 106 with a sample of 84 respondents. The study use questionnaire where quantitative data was analyzed using SPSS 25.0, qualitative data using thematic content and inferential data using multiple regression. The research found that stakeholder involvement and planning all levels of project implementation influence performance of community water projects in Saku Sub County in Marsabit County, Kenya to a great extent. The study further found that trained, adequate human resource influence performance of community water projects to a very great extent. The research found that frequency of meetings; project ownership; and level of involvement influence performance of community water projects to a great extent. The study concluded that management planning had the greatest influence on performance of community water projects followed by funding, and then project governing policies while community participation had the least influence on the performance of community water projects. The study recommends inclusive planning at all levels of the project cycle and request the government develops mechanisms to curb corruption occurrences especially in the face of project implementation.

This project is on project management practices and performance of   water projects of Othaya-Mukurweini Water Services Company Limited. The need to implement successful water projects calls for optimum practices. As a developing country, Kenya is faced with project management challenges. Whilst projects in general have their challenges regarding implementation and consequently success, water projects in particular are plagued by a unique set of problems and challenges. This knowledge will provide important information that can be integrated to project cycle before or towards completion by government, private and non-governmental organizations. Lessons drawn from this study will be utilized by the communities, implementing water projects to address the project performance challenges and plan the better ways of implementing the water projects. The objectives of this study included how planning, stakeholder involvement, monitoring & evaluation affect the performance of Othaya-Mukurweini Water and Sanitation Company Limited. Key theories put into perspective in this study were systems theory, stakeholder theory, agency theory and balance score card theory. The study adopted the descriptive research design to allow the researcher to study phenomena without manipulation of variables. The target population was the clientele and staff of OMWASCO. The findings of this study were generalized to all other water companies in Kenya. The target population was 351 comprising of customers and staff of OMWASCO.This study employed systematic sampling on the beneficiaries of the two projects, whereby 30% of customers and project staff on each project area were interviewed. Primary data was collected using questionnaires. In the course of primary data collection unwilling respondents were encountered especially with revealing information classified as confidential. They were however reassured of utmost confidentiality and relevant authorization documents attached to the questionnaires. Secondary data was obtained from relevant publications and literature review from libraries. Data was tabulated and analyzed for purpose of clarity, using SPSS software. The study concluded that project planning, stakeholders’ involvement and monitoring & evaluation have a positive and significant effect on the performance of water projects of Othaya-Mukurweini Water Services Company Ltd. The study recommends that the organizations within the water sector in Kenya should implement their project planning by first defining the steps involved in project planning so that they can determine what and processes where cost reduction can be done, what can be done to reduce costs. The study recommends that for organizations within the water sector in Kenya to achieve their objectives, they should align the annual goals to their major change initiatives or quality programs and integrate them into the stakeholder involvement. The study further recommends that organizations within the water sector in Kenya should identify monitoring & evaluation ways that can help enhance performance of organizations within the water sector in Kenya.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to assess the influence of procurement specifications development on performance of the energy sector in Kenya with an aim of making recommendations on proper use of procurement specification development practices among energy sector in Kenya.Methodology: This research study adopted a descriptive research design approach. The researcher preferred this method because it allows an in-depth study of the subject. The target population was procurement officers in the energy sector in Kenya. The study employed stratified random sampling technique in coming up with a sample size of 154 respondents from a total of 253 target population in the energy sector in Kenya.  The study combined two methods in its data collection that is, questionnaires and key informant interviews. After data collection, quantitative data was coded using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 20. Data was analyzed through descriptive statistical methods such as means, standard deviation, frequencies and percentage. Inferential analyses were used in relation to correlation analysis and regression analysis to test the relationship between the four explanatory variables and the explained variable.Results and conclusion: The independent variables reported R value of 0.796 indicating that there was perfect relationship between dependent variable and independent variables. R-Square is a commonly used statistic to evaluate model fit. R2 is 1 minus the ratio of residual variability. The coefficient of determination also called the R2 was 0.634. R2 value of 0.634 means that 63.4% of the corresponding variation in performance of the energy sector in procurement specification development in the energy sector in Kenya can be explained or predicted by (planning and analysis, stakeholder involvement, vetting and approvals, revision and storage) which indicated that the model fitted the study data. The Findings of the Study Indicated That Planning and Analysis, Stakeholder Involvement, Vetting and Approvals and Revision and Storage Have A Positive Relationship with Performance of The Energy Sector.Unique contribution to theory, policy and practice: The study recommended that companies in the energy sector should embrace drivers of procurement specification development and further researches should to be carried out in other institutions to find out if the same results can be obtained.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to examine the key determinants influencing the performance of child welfare protection project in Kilifi county, Kenya. The study aimed to achieve the following objectives: to examine the extent to which training of workers influences performance of child welfare protection project, to determine the extent to which stakeholder engagement influences performance of child welfare protection project, to establish the extent to which availability of financial resources influences performance of child welfare protection project and to assess how monitoring and evaluation approaches influences the performance of child welfare protection project.Methodology: The study adopted the descriptive research design.  The target population was 20 directors and 110 project workers which summed to 130 persons. The study sampled 101 respondents which included (15) directors and (86) project workers in the social department of 15 child charitable institutions. Purposive sampling and proportionate sampling were utilized respectively. Primary data was collected by use of close ended questionnaire and the return rate was 70%. Quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS version) latest version. The study results were presented through frequency tables and narratives analysis.Results: The findings clearly depict that all determiners: training of workers, stakeholder engagement, availability of financial resources and monitoring and evaluation approaches were present in child welfare projects constituting of the composite mean of 3.9468, 2.988, 3.6798 and 3,9434 respectively while the dependent variable had a composite mean of 4.34. Hypothesis was tested on each alternative as per the objective using the simple Chi square test determined that training of workers had no significant influence on the performance of child welfare protection projects while stakeholder engagement, availability of financial resources and monitoring and evaluation had a significant influence on the performance of child welfare protection projects.Unique contribution to theory, policy and practice: The study recommends that further research be conducted on training to provide more insight of this variable. The study recommends training of workers through university-agency partnerships be fortified to bring about new ideas and skills among project workers in addition, firms should ensure child welfare practitioners are endowed with valuable M&E skills and suitable approaches to meet the set target and objectives.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to map the current organisation and implementation of children’s services in three regions of Spain, to identify strengths and gaps and to suggest proposals for improvement in line with European recommendations. Design/methodology/approach Spain features a decentralised approach when it comes to the organisation of children’s services. This means that relevant themes for children’s services refer to decentralised policies, which diverge within the regions in the country and therefore to illustrate this the authors focus on three specific regions. The study used an exploratory case study design and relied on qualitative methods, including the answers to open questionnaires provided by senior civil servants at key regional child welfare agencies, children’s services directors and service providers. Findings The main finding from the review of the legislation and the answers to the questionnaires is that public social services still follow an assistance logic rather than a social investment approach in regards to children’s services. Although a significant development of laws and policies has taken place, ensuring the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes and services for children remains a challenge. Research limitations/implications The answers provided by the respondents may be subject to limitations imposed by the agencies for which they work. A general disadvantage of qualitative research is the use of subjective criteria to interpret the relevance of the results. The study was further challenged by differences across regions when it comes to their legal and policy frameworks, development of provisions and implementation and outcomes’ evaluation. Practical implications The findings could be used to assess the state of play in regards to children’s services across the regions studied and beyond with a focus on children being placed at the centre of public services’ intervention, using a comprehensive approach and promoting critical thinking and reflective practice. Social implications The three selected case studies provide additional insight into policy and legal developments, implementation and evaluation of activities and efforts to improve policy and practice in children’s services. Originality/value This paper contributes to the evaluation of the current situation of children’s services in Spain from a decentralised perspective with the aim to facilitate changes to improve planning, implementation and evaluation of children’s services and secure better outcomes for children.

The last decade has brought many changes to Colorado's water supply outlook. Despite the recent economic recession, the state has experienced significant population growth, and Colorado's population is expected to nearly double within the next 40 years. Other pressures on Colorado's water supply include severe drought, a desire to meet multiple needs (i.e., municipal, environmental, recreational) with existing resources, and impacts to agriculture due to water shortages, urbanization, and transfers to new users. To address these challenges, the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) has undertaken a visioning process to explore solutions to these future water supply challenges. As part of this process, CWCB has led the state in identifying demand and supply strategies to meet the state's future water needs while considering agriculture and the environment. These strategies have been combined into varying portfolios that include methods such as conservation, local water projects, new Colorado River development, and agricultural transfers. This paper details the development and evaluation of these portfolios and describes stakeholder's efforts to balance meeting Colorado's water needs in the future.

Mobile phones have undeniably brought a paradigm shift, affecting both the lives of people and the business environment. Today, mobile phone has permeated the lives of billions of people around the world, becoming for many an indispensable device. Moreover, adoption of mobile banking has significant impact on reducing costs and enabling change in retail banking. Factors influencing the intention to use or adopt mobile banking are very important and will play a vital role for mobile banking service providers. The proposed study focuses on a comprehensive set of potential factors that influence the adoption of mobile banking. The research model identifies appropriate factors and captures dependency relationships among these factors in the form of a number of hypotheses to be tested in this research. This paper aims to design a scale with a high degree of reliability, validity, and dimensionality which helps to determine the appropriate technology adoption model based on the identified constructs, viz. Optimism (OPTI), Innovativeness (INNO), Insecurity (INSC), Discomfort (DISC), Perceived Usefulness (PU), Perceived Ease of Use (PEU), Perceived Risk (PR), Subjective Norms (SN), Attitude (ATTI), Behavioural Control (BC) and Behavioural Intention (BI). The data were collected through questionnaire survey from 201 respondents comprising software engineers, bank employees, professors, entrepreneurs. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to test the validity of the proposed measurement scale for all the identified constructs. This instrument helps bankers to determine and design there applications which will contribute to the knowledge of predicting customer intention.
