Soil-structure interaction(SSI) analysis is the study of the dynamic response of a structure as influenced by the interaction with the surrounding soil. The SSI response is sensitive to the characteristics of the soil, structures, and ground motion, as well as the depth of embedment. The concept of soil-structure interaction was introduced , and the research methods were discussed. This report presents a synthetic of the body of knowledge contained in SSI literature, which has been distilled into a concise narrative and harmonized under a consistent set of variables and units. Specific techniques are described by which SSI phenomena can be simulated in engineering practice, and recommendations for modeling seismic soil-structure interaction effects on building structures are provided. An attempt was made to summarize the all terms in this area of study.

Abstract: In the analysis of structures subjected to earthquake forces, it is usually assumed that the structure is fixed at the base to simplify the mathematical problem. This assumption leads to gross error in assessment of overall response under dynamic loads. The interaction phenomenon is principally affected by the mechanism of energy exchanged between the soil and the structure during an earthquake. In the present investigation, a multi-storied building which is located in Amaravati is chosen as the study area which consists of different types of soil / rock profiles at different locations. Many high rise structures are expected in future in the new city. Earthquake analysis is carried out when similar structure rests on different types of soils and the results of fundamental time periods, base shears and displacements are compared with the results obtained from fixed base condition.

This paper deals with static and dynamic analysis of asymmetric high-rise building. Two alternatives have been analysed – without dilatation and with dilatation. Then, the influence of the dilatation was discussed. The building was located in 4th seismic area in Slovakia (Bratislava). The description of the building, applied load, considered soil-structure interaction, created calculating models, used analysis and obtained results are mentioned here. The conclusions and the photos of defective repairs of real structures are depicted at the end of the paper.
