Abstract. Butuan City lies along and is being transected by the Philippine Fault: Surigao Segment. As earthquakes occur more recently, the city is more vulnerable to earthquake hazards, especially soil liquefaction. With the city proper situated mostly on areas susceptible to soil liquefaction and with no constructive evacuation plan against this kind of hazard, it puts the city at risk. This problem highlights the importance of vulnerability assessment for the identification of the road networks that would be most optimal to use in occurrence of an earthquake and an earthquake induced liquefaction. With seven parameters to consider for the assessment, it would be easier to assess by using the pairwise comparison technique of the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Geographic Information System (GIS). The analysis was performed by using AHP to assign weights to the parameters and using these weights to classify the road networks into vulnerability classes. The result of the analysis yielded to 34.87% of the road networks with low vulnerability, 65.09% has medium vulnerability and 0.03% are considered to be highly vulnerable. Majority of the road networks especially in the city proper exhibit medium vulnerability in terms of earthquake occurrences. With unavoidable chances that this kind of disaster would happen, these results would benefit the decision makers involved in disaster risk reduction.

This research aims to evaluate and rank the Circular Supply Chain (CSC) enablers for the effective implementation of CSC management. From the literature and input received from industrial experts, 30 CSC enablers are identified. Further, the selected CSC enablers are classified into seven main categories. This research employs the Pythagorean fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (PF-AHP) technique to prioritize the selected CSC enablers based on pairwise comparison of criteria and sub-criteria. The effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated with the help of responses received from an Indian manufacturing industry. The result reveals that global climate pressure and ecological scarcity of resources is the most significant enabler and the environment management certifications and systems is the least important enabler. The result of the present study will assist the practitioners / decision makers in implementing CSC in manufacturing organizations by adopting the ranking obtained in a systematic way.

Abstract Environmental hazards (natural and man-made) have always constituted problem in many developing and developed countries. Many applications proved that these problems could be solved through planning studies and detailed information about these prone areas. Determining time and location and size of the problem are important for decision makers for planning and management activities. It is important to know the risk represented by those hazards and take actions to protect against them. Multicriteria analysis methods - Analytic hierarchy process, Pairwise comparison, Ranking method are used to analyse which is the most dangerous hazard facing Libya country. The multicriteria analysis ends with a more or less stable ranking of the given alternatives and hence a recommendation as to which alternative(s) problems should be preferred. Regarding our problem of environmental risk assessment, the result will be a ranking or categorisation of hazards with regard to their risk level.

Abstrac :Road handling priority determination is an important tasks faced by decision makers and is regarded as a complex multi-criteria problem. It requires a system to categorise and ranks the project order using several criteria. Officially, SK. No. 77 of the Directorate General of Highway issued in 1990 is a method used in the local government. This method however, has been considered to have limitations to determine road handling priority. Using previous studies, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the combination of FAHP and TOPSIS methods are considered relevant to determine road handling priority. These methods incorporates a variety of criteria which can also be considered by the decision makers. Using the AHP, the criteria of road conditions, traffic volume, economic and policy factors are 41.8%, 25.4%,  21.6 and 11.2% respectively. Meanwhile, a combination methods of FAHP and TOPSIS give the criteria of road conditions, traffic volume, economic and policy factors of 33.8%, 26.6%, 24.7% and 14.9% respectively. Both AHP and FAHP produce the same result in terms of criteria rank. This is not the case however, in the sub criteria rank. This study found that AHP gives road handling priority differently to the SK. No 77 of Directorate General of Highway (1990). In contrast, a combination methods of FAHP and TOPSIS produces road handling priority in the same way to the SK. No 77 of Directorate General of Highway (1990). Denpasar city government is suggested to consider the use of FAHP and TOPSIS method in determining its road handling priority. This method is considered to have a capability to combine many criteria using a priority weighted score. The road handling priority results therefore, are more realistic.

With this work, we developed a multi-criteria decision-making model to assess and select an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), using a multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA). A hybrid multi-criteria methodology is used for the assessment and selection of an ERP, combining the MMASSI/IT methodology, which is used to both define the relevant family of criteria, based on their features and flexibility to change and adapt to a given scope, and the weight of criteria. Then, the well-known Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) methodology is used to perform the decision-makers’ value function elicitation preference of alternatives pairwise comparison in each criterion. The additive aggregation is used to compute the alternatives global score. The proposed hybrid model was validated in an industrial context by three Decision-makers.

: Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) helps decision makers (DMs) solve highly complex problems. Accordingly, MCDM has been widely used by DMs from various fields as an effective and reliable tool for solving various problems, such as in site and supplier selection, ranking and assessment. This work presents an in-depth survey of past and recent MCDM techniques cited in the literature. These techniques are mainly categorised into pairwise comparison, outranking and distance-based approaches. Some well-known MCDM methods include the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), Analytical Network Process (ANP), Elimination et Choix Traduisant la Realité (ELECTRE), Preference Ranking Organization METHod for Enrichment of Evaluations (PROMETHEE), Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) and VIseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR). Each of these methods is unique and has been used in a vast field of interest to support DMs in solving complex problems. For a complete survey, discussions related to previous issues and challenges and the current implementation of MCDM are also presented.

Basically there are three kinds of snow removal: mechanical snow removal (MSR), snow-thawing pipe systems (STP) and snow-conveying open channels (SCOC). This paper identifies inhabitants’ attitudes toward snow-removal options and quantitatively evaluates their preferences by applying the Analytical Hierarchy Process (ΑΗΡ) method. A hierarchy is specified separately for the road in front of a house and the site of a house. A case study carried out for citizens living in the city of Ojiya in Niigata reveals that the space available for walking is an important factor, and hence STP scores considerably higher than SCOC and MSR. For the evaluation of a house site, the frequency per season of removing snow from a roof is the most important factor. House designs for overcoming snow accumulation are also evaluated.

This paper analyzed and assessed the pedestrians’ mobility issues that are affecting their free movement and safety in the City of Kigali by outlining  the major challenges in the City and providing alternative solutions and measures for improving the mobility and safety of pedestrians. The  methodology of the paper was designed based on qualitative method with application of structured and unobtrusive. Referring to the paper  findings about the mobility challenges of pedestrians within the City of Kigali, it is noted that the mobility of the pedestrians and their safety is still  low and typical problems including road crossing viewed as the second challenges about pedestrians mobility, walking along very close to the road networks due to insufficient footpaths, lacking of enough road signs, lacking of information about pedestrian behavior on road networks, and  improper functioning of existing traffic signals as the first challenge. The paper found that the majority of road networks in the City of Kigali did not provide walkways, traffics signals designs and availability is very poor and some of them not functioning, zebra crossing facilities were not provided adequately, pedestrians shelter on bus stop are almost absent and ignored, vehicles travelling speed is still high and does not allow pedestrians to move freely, and the mobility of physically challenged people has been forgotten and there is a need of introducing the pedestrian overpass bridges in clouded zones of the city center, Nyabugogo, Kicukiro and Remera-Giporoso areas of the City of Kigali. The spatial pattern is a kind of typical structural knowledge that reflects the distribution characteristics of object groups. As an important semantic pattern of road networks, the city center is significant to urban analysis, cartographic generalization and spatial data matching. Previous studies mainly focus on the topological centrality calculation of road network graphs, and pay less attention to the delineation of main centers. Therefore, this study proposes an automatic recognition method of main center pattern in road networks. We firstly extract the main clusters from road nodes by improving the Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise (DBSCAN) with fuzzy set theory. Moreover, the center area is generated with road meshes according to the area ratio with the covering discs of the main clusters. This proposed algorithm is applied to the road networks of a monocentric city and polycentric city respectively. The results show that our method is effective for identifying the main center pattern in the road networks. Furthermore, the contrast experiments demonstrate our method’s higher accuracy.

Priority vectors in the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) are commonly estimated as constant values calculated by the pairwise comparison ratios elicited from an expert. For multiple experts, or panel data, or other data with varied characteristics of measurements, the priority vectors can be built as functions of the auxiliary predictors. For example, in multi-person decision making, the priorities can be obtained in regression modeling by the demographic and socio-economic properties. Then the priorities can be predicted for individual respondents, profiled by each predictor, forecasted in time, studied by the predictor importance, and estimated by the characteristic of significance, fit and quality well-known in regression modeling. Numerical results show that the suggested approaches reveal useful features of priority behavior, that can noticeably extend the AHP abilities and applications for numerous multiple-criteria decision making problems. The considered methods are useful for segmentation of the respondents and finding optimum managerial solutions specific for each segment. It can help to decision makers to focus on the respondents’ individual features and to increase customer satisfaction, their retention and loyalty to the promoted brands or products.
